This is your chance!  You have a 300 hardtop you want to build, but you would rather have a convertible!  Here is the car you need.  Take your solid hardtop and turn it into a convertible.

This car came out of pole shed in Michigan.  Untouched for the last 20 years, other than being used as a table from time to time, it appears.  The upside is that the lack of movement has prevented parts from going missing.  That I am aware, the only parts not present in this car are:
Carpet
Front Kick Panels
Passenger Mirror
1 hubcap

I have the keys for the car.  I am going to walk through all areas of the car regarding condition.  My goal is that you know what you are buying as much as possible.  If I haven't covered an area that you have questions about, please do ask a question or ask for additional pictures.  My reserve is low for what I think this car could be.  I will not share what my reserve is.

Overall, the car is rusty on the bottom.  The higher up on the car you get, the better the car is.  It appears to have been redone at some point.  The paint currently is silver, but it appears it was white at some point.  There is some white over-spray on some of the trim.

I am going to start with the rear of the car.  The rear bumper has lots of crazing, and it has several dents in it.  The tail lights are in good shape.  No apparent cracks.  The chome has pin point pitting, but they clean up fairly nice.  The trunk sealing lip is solid with no rust through.  The trunk floor has some small holes, but it is pretty solid overall.  The sides have had some metal added in.  It appears it was added in during a rebuild, or it could be factory.  I am unsure.  The trunk lid does have some rust on the underside.  It is bubbling.  Not sure if there is rust through, but it appears there is some filler from the prior repaint.  The lower inner quarters are rusted on both sides.  The passenger frame rail is solid.  The Driver's side frame rail is rusted out.  Frame rails are rough on the underside, but the sides and tops appear solid.

Rearend is present.  Unknown condition overall.  Tires are rollers at best, but they are holding air.

The Inner fenders that the top mounts are welded into are in good shape and do not have rust.  The panel between the inner fenders does have some rust through in the pressed in channel.  The drain is present.  The top boot has been cut out at some point.  The top trim where the cover snaps onto is there and in good condition.  The cover is present, but there is a seam that is coming apart.  The top motor is present.  Unknown condition.  The top cylinders are present, but they are disconnected.  The top can be raised by hand currently.  The top frame is in good condition overall.  The top itself is not.  The frame does have some detioration mainly in the tack location on the rear most cross piece.  The top latch is present, as are the catches and pins on the front edge of the top frame.

The interior is all present with the exception of the carpet and the front kick panels.  The door panels are decent, but they appear to have different fade rates between them.  Front seat is present.  Seat bottom needs redone.  Seat tops have some seams coming apart and the fabric is dry.  The rear seat frame is also present, and it has some seams coming apart as well.  The material is there, so patterns could be made.  The rear side panels are present and in fairly good condition.  the convertible only rear seat pieces are there and restorable.

The floors are gone in the lower sections.  They are better at the high points, including the trans tunnel.  There is some rust through under the rear seat, but not bad overall.  The frame sections under the seats have rust through in spots in the underside, but the car feels  solid overall.

The doors appear to be in fairly good condition, and they may have been changed at some point in the car's life.  The door handles are pretty cool looking, but they have some crazing. T he outer door handles don't appear to have much pitting, just the crazing.  The chrome/stainless trim along the body line of the car is in good condition, but there are some dings along it.  The inner door handles and window cranks appear to have some pitting.

The dash is in really good condition.  There is surface rust on the steel, but the panels the switches are in are in good condition.  All switches and buttons are present.  There are 2 missing screws in the heater face plate.  The transmission buttons operate, as does the park pawl.  All switches move, but I am unsure of condition.  The dash pad is in really good shape.  I was not able to find any cracks in it.  Some of the chrome on the dash has pitting.  The glove box opens hard.  The inside glove box is good.  There is an owner's manual with the car.  It does have some water damage.

The windshield has a scratch in it.  This is a scratch, not a crack.  It is likely savable.  The window frame is in good condition.  The vent window frames are good, and they have some tiny dot type pitting, but they shine up nice.  The window moulding is there and in good condition.  Wiper arms are in good condition.  Blades need changed.  Side window and quarter windows are all present and in good condition.  Window mechanisms all work.  Doors shut really nice.

Cowl vent appears good.  Hood appears to have some filler, but does not appear to be rusted out.  The fenders have had some rust repair and filler.  The rockers have had rust repair.  Front frame is in better condition than the rear frame.

The 361 engine does not currently turn, but it is complete.  The PO had begun a swap to a 4 barrel intake, and the car was running prior to that.  The new intake is on, and the carb that is now on the car is corroded.  Wiring in the engine bay does not appear to be hacked.  The engine is complete.,  I do have the air cleaner, though it is not shown in the pictures.  All accessories are present.  The radiator is present.  Condition unknown.  The car does have power steering and power brakes.  The brakes are currently working and keep the car from being moved while it is pushed.  There is some rust through in the inner fender and radiator support area.

Grill is in good overall condition.  Hood latch works, and the way it is hidden in the grill is pretty darn cool.  Front bumper has some damage.  Light bezels are good overall.  They have a couple spots of pitting each.Trim on the car is all complete.  In the trim around the trunk and the rear bumper, there are a couple locations where a PO has used screws to hold them on.

The fuel tank looks to have been epoxy coated on the outside.

Overall, my assessment of this car is that it is best used in conjunction with a rust free 2 door to build a nice convertible.  I do know the location of such a car.

I have tried by best to let you know EXACTLY the condition of this car.  If you do have other questions about things I have not answered, please let me know.  I will try and respond as quickly as I can.

If the car sells, I would like a non-refundable 500$ deposit via paypal within 3 days.  I feel that I have given you all enough information about the car that you can make an informed decision.

I have WAY WAY WAY more pictures available than Ebay will let me post....  You can also come check out the car if you are local to me.  It is POSSIBLE I may be able to deliver the car, as I have been buying cars throughout the midwest to part out.  Please communicate with me regarding that possibility prior to bidding.  If the car does not sell, I will be parting it out.

In all likelihood, I have forgotten something.  I will add it should I remember, or, please ask if you desire further information.

UAW urging Chrysler to sell shares to investors

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

The United Auto Workers union is pushing Chrysler to sell 16.6 percent of its stock to investors in an attempt to establish the value of the shares. The UAW is currently locked in a lawsuit with Chrysler parent company Fiat over how much the Italian automaker should pay to buy shares from the trust fund. Last year, Fiat told the trust it intended to exercise its right to purchase 3.3 percent of the union's shares at issue. But the union contended the 54,154 shares were worth closer to $381 million instead of the $155 million Fiat offered.
Currently, the UAW owns 41.5 percent of Chrysler while Fiat holds 58.5 percent of the company. Currently, it's unclear whether the UAW could force Chrysler to put the shares on the open market. Doing so would be the first step toward a much-anticipated initial public offering. Chrysler has said it will comply with its shareholders agreement, and Fiat has echoed that tune. According to The Detroit Free Press, the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust has declined to comment on the situation.

Ram trucks lead 2021 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

Tue, Aug 31 2021

For the first time ever, Ram leads in J.D. Power's annual Initial Quality Study with a score of 128 PP100, or problems experienced per 100 vehicles in the first 90 days of ownership. Ram was in third place in last year's rankings. Coming in second place is Dodge (139 PP100), a sister division to Ram under the Stellantis umbrella, followed by Lexus (144 PP100), this year's highest-ranked premium automaker, in third. These findings reinforce an overall trend over the last few decades where mass-market brands have outperformed premium brands that tend to introduce bleeding-edge technologies that can confuse owners or fail to work entirely. Genesis (148 PP100) is the only other premium automaker to perform better than average. At the bottom of the official rankings is Chrysler (251 PP100), which seems to make little sense considering most of its technologies are shared with Dodge and many with Ram until you consider that Chrysler only offers two platforms and one of them is the Pacifica/Voyager minivan twins that are unique to the brand. The next worst are Audi (240 PP100) and Volkswagen (213 PP100). Tesla would fall in between VW and Audi with its score of 231PP100, but because the electric car manufacturer doesn't provide access to J.D. Power in every state, it's not officially included. Interestingly, J.D. Power said on a followup call that the problems that Tesla owners report most often are more traditional issues, such as panel fitment, interior noises or paint problems instead of problems with the car's electronics. According to J.D. Power, the industry averaged a score of 162 PP100. That is four points higher than the overall score in 2020, and 20 of 32 brands improved their quality scores over the last year. That's a two percent increase in quality in 2021, which is good but slightly lower than the average rate of improvement over the last decade. On a car-by-car basis, the Nissan Maxima leads the overall field with a score of 85 PP100. Issues with infotainment systems — and in particular problems pairing smartphones with in-car technologies — continue to be the top-reported problems. Headaches connecting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto dominate the complaints. "Owners want wireless connectivity, and the industry has responded," according to Dave Sargent, vice president of automotive quality at J.D. Power. "However, this has created a bigger technical challenge for both automakers and tech companies.

Proposed deal averts strike between FCA and UAW

Thu, Oct 8 2015

With the deadline rapidly approaching for a strike, FCA US and the United Auto Workers were able to hammer out a potential agreement late last night to avoid picket lines, at least for now. While the UAW said in a statement that it "secured significant gains," the actual contents of the deal haven't been published yet. Before going public, the offer still needs the consent of the UAW National Chrysler Committee, and that body has a meeting on 11:00 AM Eastern on Friday, October 9, to make a decision. If the Chrysler committee signs off on the deal, it would then go to the union's 40,000 FCA US workers for a vote, according to The Detroit News. "We have made real gains and I look forward to a full discussion of the terms with our membership," President Dennis Williams said in the UAW's statement. FCA US isn't providing any answers about the proposed contract either. In a release about the negotiations, the automaker said: "FCA US confirms that it has reached a new tentative agreement with the UAW. Because the agreement is subject to UAW member ratification, the Company cannot discuss the specifics of the agreement pending a vote by UAW members." The original tentative contract with FCA US promised raises and the creation of a healthcare co-op. However, 65 percent of union members rejected the deal, The Detroit News reports. Workers didn't like that the offer kept a two-tier wage system between veterans and more recent employees. The details of the health plan also weren't explained well, and there wasn't much info on possible production changes. UAW-FCA NATIONAL BARGAINING COMMITTEE VOTES ON PROPOSED TENTATIVE AGREEMENT Featured / News / October 8, 2015 UAW National Chrysler Council Leaders to Convene for Vote on Friday, Oct. 9 — Terms to be announced following Friday vote Detroit, Mich. – After a lengthy bargaining process, the UAW FCA National Bargaining Committee has secured significant gains in a proposed Tentative Agreement with FCA US announced today. The bargaining committee unanimously voted to send the proposed Tentative Agreement to local union leaders who make up the union's UAW National Chrysler Council. The UAW Chrysler Council will meet in Detroit at 11 am on Friday to discuss and vote on the agreement. "We heard from our members, and went back to FCA to strengthen their contract," said UAW President Dennis Williams.
