Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Survivor!  Mileage is accurate at 15,483 and works out to 344 miles per year! Third owner.  The only changes are new measurement-correct Coker tires (to replace the 1969 originals), front discs to replace original drums (it actually stops now but I still have the original drums if you like to live on the edge) and electronic ignition.  Otherwise, stock.  The way she rolled out of the factory.

Base model '69 Newport. No Air, no tilt, no cruise, no P Windows or P Locks. AM only radio.  Clock not working but that's it. Always garaged.  A pristine monument to gigantic cars that will never come again.  This vehicle was originally purchased in Jamestown, NY where it actually was driven for by a little old lady.  I purchased it from her relatives in Binghamton NY and drove it across the continent 10 years ago.  It never gave me any trouble...except...no cupholders.  Has a 383 2-barrel that actually gets decent mileage.

I have service orders from the original owner that show the vehicle was serviced at McFadden Chrysler in Jamestown.  What's interesting is the first work order is from July 10, 1995 and shows a mileage on the car of 10,195.  A year later, a work order from the same dealer dated July 11, 1996 shows a mileage of 10,313.  That's 118 miles in one year.

If you're looking for a no-restoration-needed, pristine sedan, here it is.  Vehicle located in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Note:  Odometer photo indicates 15,481.  Since then I've driven it around the block a couple of times.  Started up like a champ.  The correct mileage is 15,483.

Located in Canada.  Will sell to Canada and the United States. (Lower 48 states)

Chrysler recalling 382k Ram HD diesel pickups, 184k SUVs

Wed, 29 Oct 2014

Between GM's ignition switches and Takata's airbags, it's been a big year for recalls, but they keep rolling in. The latest comes from Chrysler, which has announced a pair of recalls for certain heavy-duty pickups and SUVs.
The first issue revolves around the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine available in the 2010-2014 Ram HD trucks, including 2500 and 3500 series pickups as well as 4500 and 5500 series chassis cabs. In the affected units, "a terminal connector near the fuel heater may be subject to friction-induced corrosion," according to the first of the two announcements from Chrysler below.
The problem could result in overheating and fuel leakage. Chrysler launched its investigation following cases of overheating, none of which actually started a fire, much less an injury or accident. As a precautionary measure, however, Chrysler is instructing service technicians to replace the terminals on an estimated 381,876 Ram units around the world - the vast majority of those (314,704) registered in the US, another 59,432 in Canada, 1,803 in Mexico and 5,937 abroad.

Fiat Chrysler global HQ lands in London's ultra-posh West End

Thu, 18 Sep 2014

It seems Fiat is bent on bolstering its image as a global automaker, as word has leaked out that the Italian/American conglomerate has chosen to locate its global headquarters in a rather swanky neighborhood in London. According to Bloomberg, the rental location on St. James Street in London's West End is a 10-minute walk from Buckingham Palace, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will fill up three complete floors of an office building that also houses The Economist magazine.
As a neutral location between Italy and the United States, the London-based headquarters makes sense, though, at $277 per square foot, this area is said to be the most expensive office space in the world. There's no mention of what FCA has actually agreed to pay for renting the space, but we're certain it isn't coming cheap.
Not surprisingly, Bloomberg also cites research indicating that the largest number of immigrants moving into London from January through August of this year hail from Italy, which makes sense considering the number of Italian executives and workers we'd expect would have to relocate to the UK in order to work at Fiat's new home. The company reportedly plans to be in place in London by the time it holds its next round of board meetings in October.

Dodge to resurrect Scat Pack?

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

Before social media ever existed, if automotive enthusiasts wanted to be noticed or recognize other fans, they joined a car club. For Dodge muscle car lovers from 1968 through 1971, that group was known as the Scat Pack. Just like the Charger, Challenger and Dart nameplates, it looks like the Scat Pack could be getting a resurrection by Chrysler.
Automotive News is reporting that Chrysler recently renewed its trademark on the Scat Pack name, and while this is in no way a guarantee that the name will return, AN talked to Tim Kuniskis, Dodge President and CEO, who stoked the fire a little more. In the article, Kuniskis said that the name is "a very important part of our history" and added that "we like the whole idea of having a Scat Pack of cars." Scat Pack models were identified by their bumblebee stripes and helmet-wearing bumblebee logo, and the idea of a modern Scat Pack doesn't seem all that outlandish in light of recent vehicles like the Charger SRT Super Bee and the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee Concept.
What do you think, is this a cool idea, or is it just an unwelcome bit of nostalgia? Have you say in Comments.
