Chrysler was said to have developed the Crown Imperial Sedan to compete with the Cadillac Sixty Special. The owner of this Chrysler has owned both, and much prefers the drive of the Imperial.

If your looking to find a car that is almost guaranteed no one else will have, then here is your chance to own this amazing 1941 Chrysler Imperial. It is believed to be one of only six known to remain and is also one of only two that are still in service.

One of 894 built, this 1941 Chrysler Crown Imperial was sold in Hartford, Connecticut and remained there for 50 years. It has been designated as a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America.

The Town Sedan model of the Chrysler Imperial, was produced for only one year.  It was not the most popular series , more than likely due to it's price. Very few cars from this generation still can stand in glory in its current form. This Chrysler is going to exceed all car show expectations for years to come.

The wide white wall tires were replaced in 2011. At that same time, the carburetor, starter, and water pump were rebuilt.

The exterior first grabs your attention with the massive chromed horizontal grill. It flows flawlessly towards both the front headlights and above the gorgeous front bumper, which is also chromed.

The black paint is in better condition than you may expect considering how old the car is. The car retians much of it's original paint, with just some touch up on the fenders done several years ago. Large white wall tires wrap around the factory steel wheels, which are finished off by a chromed dish hubcaps.

The interior is where much of the style, class and beauty will be found. Most of the interior, like the steering wheel, dash, wood grain and upholstery has been recreated to match the original look.  Peroid brochres were used in the restoration of the interior to bring it as close to original as possible.

The owner sent the dash and all of the wood grain parts to Bob Kennedy in California, known for his outstanding work on classic woodies, he actually repainted and cleared all of the wood grain to recreate the original look.

The owner also decided to have his entire interior reupholstered and chose to have Village Upholstery and the services of it's owner Larry Hankins do the work. You can see the results. The interior is outstanding.

The fluid drive works very well in this outstanding car.

The radio is working as it was back in 1941, all of the gauges and each and every option available as well. 1941was the first year for power windows, and it is common to have issues with this system. The owner had all of the components rebuilt in 2011/12. However the passenger side front window does not work as well as it should. All others opperate just fine.

There is plenty of chrome trim located all over the car from front to rear. The front emblem, side moldings, even along side the foot boards are in very good condition.

Powering this beauty is a 323 cu. in. straight-8 engine, which produced around 143HP. The car moves along with the aid of the fluid drive transmission.

Bob Lutz, UAW rep commend Chrysler for not bowing to NHTSA recall pressure [w/poll]

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

Bob Lutz, the well-known executive with a range of automakers including both General Motors and Chrysler, says he supports Chrysler for not caving under federal pressure to issue a recall on 2.7 million Jeep vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is arguing that the plastic fuel tanks positioned behind the axles of certain 1993-2004 Grand Cherokee models and 2002-2007 Liberty models may become punctured in a collision and potentially catch fire, so it has called upon Chrysler to recall the vehicles. 15 deaths and 46 injuries have been attributed to the issue. For its part, Chrysler has maintained that its models "met and exceeded" all safety applicable mandates when they were manufactured, and furthermore, they argue that the government agency's own data proves that the vehicles are no more dangerous than similar SUVs produced by other automakers at the time. As a result, it is taking the unusual step of refusing to recall the vehicles.
According to The Detroit News, Lutz says Chrysler is right to push back when the government is out of line. Lutz also said that he wished he could have done the same when NHTSA urged Chrysler to issue a recall on certain minivans back when he was with the automaker 25 years ago.
Meanwhile, United Auto Workers Vice President General Holiefield also defended Chrysler by saying, "Our legendary Jeeps are crafted with pride by our dedicated UAW American workforce who work tirelessly to ensure the utmost quality of each Jeep that is produced for customers."

Pickup prices rising at 2x industry average

Tue, 11 Jun 2013

We've said it before, but bears repeating: Pickup trucks are the financial engines of America's automakers. Good thing, then, that the segment is in rude health - in fact, Automotive News is suggesting that pickup truck sales are arguably healthier than they were pre-recession, even though the segment's volume is still significantly down from where it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy. That's because per-unit profits on full-size trucks are skyrocketing, outpacing the industry's average price increases by more than double since 2005. According to data from Edmunds, the average transaction price of a full-size pickup is now $39,915 - a heady increase over the $31,059 average price in 2005 - a gain of over 8 percent after inflation is factored in.
Just how important are trucks to automakers' bottom lines? Automotive News quotes a Morgan Stanley analyst as saying the Ford F-Series is responsible for 90 percent of the company's 2012 profits, and General Motors isn't far behind, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins chipping in about two-thirds of the automaker's earnings.
Automotive News points out that Detroit's automakers now have the money to invest in modernizing their full-size truck offerings, in part because they don't have the same overhead and legacy costs that pushed General Motors and Chrysler into bankruptcy. Certainly, the pickup segment has seen a lot of innovations as of late, including turbocharged V6s, coil-spring rear suspensions and active aero. Those improvements in important areas like fuel economy and ride comfort have given existing pickup buyers new reasons to upgrade. In addition, automakers are piling on the tech and luxury goodies, creating more and more high-content, high-profit models like the Ford F-150 King Ranch, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (shown).

More 2015 Chrysler 200 photos surface

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

Just 24 hours after the first official 2015 Chrysler 200 shot made its way onto the web, a whole smattering of images have surfaced, courtesy of the folks at Motorward. Here, we can see the new Chrysler family sedan from every angle, including the interior, and might we say, she's pretty.
As we told you yesterday, the new 200 will be offered with either a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque or a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 295 hp and 262 lb-ft. A nine-speed automatic transmission accessed through Chrysler's rotary shifter (mounted on a Volvo-style floating center console) will direct power to the wheels. We've heard that both front- and all-wheel drive will be available, and what's more, it's been said that the new 200 will be able to achieve at least 35 miles per gallon on the highway.
An on-sale date has yet to be announced, but the new 200 will reportedly be priced at $21,700, not including $995 for destination. Have a look at the new round of photos in the gallery above - the striking blue model above looks to be the sportier 200S - and stay tuned for the officially official stuff early next week... if not sooner.
