I am selling my 1970 Nova SS 396 L-78.  I do not have any paperwork on the car but it has all the signs of a real L78 Nova.  (big block heater core, big block radiator core, single 3/8 gas line and sending unit.)  The motor is not the original one but it is a real CKO L-78 396 from another Nova. The motor has been completely rebuilt with all correct numbers and correct date coded parts. There is very little rust on the car.    This car has been off the street since 1981.   It runs great and  is very fast.

Block:    3969854    CKO                         Trans:                3925661,  P0S18A, 10W185998

Heads:    3964291                                     Water pump:     3969811

Intake:    3963569                                     Distributor:       1112000

Exhaust: 3909879, 3916178                     Alternator:        1100837

Carb:      4557                                           Rear end:          CBT  3:55 Posi

The transmission is the original one to the car. It works great. P0S18A date code

The rear end is not the original one to the car but it is a correct 12 bolt CBT 3:55 posi rear end that has been rebuilt. The  date code is CBT 0501  2  E

The car has new rear leaf springs, gas tank, tires and restored wheels.

The interior is mostly original except for the front bucket seats someone installed.  This car was originally a bench seat 4-speed.  The shifter hole was cut out a few inches so that a Hurst shifter could be used. (easy fix).  The carpet, headliner and rear seats are original and are in good shape. It has a remote side mirror and a rear defrost.

The body has all original panels as far as I can tell.  The front fenders and rear wheel well lip have some rust but are not bad. (see pics).  There is a little rust on the deck lid an at the front of the dash by the windshield.  The frame is solid.   The floor pans and trunk are in good shape.  Original color was Champagne Gold which can be seen all over the car.  All the glass is good and original.  Has a black vinyl top.

This is a great car to finish up or drive around like it is.  Look at the pictures and ask questions. I can send more pictures if anyone wants.   If you would like to come look at the car that can be arranged.  I have a clear Texas title.  This car is sold as is, ask questions or come and look at the car before bidding.  Good luck.

Peter Max staring down $1M lawsuit over Corvette collection sale

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Pop artist Peter Max recently sold off his collection of 36 vintage Chevrolet Corvettes – one each from 1953 to 1989 – for an undisclosed amount. The new owners have already announced plans to restore some of them and auction the models off sometime soon. Up until then, the sports cars had been languishing in various garages around New York City for decades and were caked in dust and grime. However, Max's end of the transaction has just become more complicated, because two men are suing the artist claiming he employed them to complete the deal first. The men allege that Max hired them to broker the sale of the 36 Corvettes in exchange for a 10-percent commission, according to the New York Post. They claim to have emails and text messages proving the existence of the deal, and are taking Max to court for $1 million over the squabble. The collection of Corvettes was amassed in 1989 as part of a prize package from the television network VH1, and Max bought the cars from the winner intending on using them for an art project. He never got around to it, though, and parked the sports cars around New York, until he finally sold them over the summer.

Is Buick's surprise Detroit concept a Camaro-sized coupe?

Sun, Jan 10 2016

Tomorrow night marks the unofficial start of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Keep your eyes peeled for a number of reveals, including a surprise debut from Buick. Yes, Buick. And we think it's going to be something really hot. According to a report from Bloomberg, the Tri-Shield's secret car could be a Camaro-sized sport coupe concept. As Bloomberg explains, it'd certainly gel with the impression the company is trying to put out – that it's no longer a brand for those with one foot in the grave. Introducing a sports coupe, even as a concept, could certainly reinforce that message. And if it happens to make production – which is not a certainty, Bloomberg's secret source says – it could certainly help Buick drive its average buyer age down from 59. Bloomberg doesn't offer any speculation on Buick's new coupe, but we have no problem making educated guesses. Our most reliable conjecture is this: it will ride on General Motors' Alpha platform, which underpins both the Camaro and the Cadillac ATS. And with a certain twin-turbocharged V6 in the GM stable, we've got an idea of what kind of engine could be shown. That speculation will have to suffice for now. But don't worry, we'll have official details, live images, and video tomorrow when Buick unveils its new concept in Detroit's Eastern Market.

Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra could get independent rear suspension

Fri, Jan 3 2020

The Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra could reportedly receive a variant of the four-link independent rear suspension found under the new Tahoe and Suburban. While that's not a surprise, a recent report suggests electrification, not comfort, convinced General Motors to make the change. Replacing the time-tested solid rear axle with an independent suspension will improve comfort, handling and off-road prowess, while adding weight, and likely making the trucks a little bit more expensive. It's a fair trade-off, but GM Authority learned the real reason for the swap is that at least one of the pickups will spawn an electric model, and it's more difficult to package a bulky battery pack around a solid rear axle. The independent rear suspension takes up far less space, even if it has more moving parts. General Motors will build its first regular-production electric pickup on an evolution of the Silverado's T1 platform named BT1, according to the same source. The b stands for -- you guessed it -- batteries. The firm reportedly doesn't want to make two suspensions for cost reasons, so the independent setup will come standard regardless of whether the truck runs on gasoline, diesel, or electricity. As a bonus, Chevrolet and GMC could choose to offer their T1-based trucks with Magnetic Ride Control or an air suspension, options available on the 2021 Suburban and Tahoe. The independent rear suspension will also find its way to the next-generation GMC Yukon due to be revealed January 14, and to the 2021 Cadillac Escalade scheduled to make its debut February 4. The long-rumored, born-again Hummer will get it, too, because it will arrive as an electric model built on the BT1 platform. It's worth noting none of this is official, and General Motors has remained quiet about what's next for its new suspension design, and what will be under its electric truck's sheet metal. If the GM Authority report is accurate, the Silverado (pictured) and the Sierra could ditch their solid rear axle for the 2021 model year. The change will likely be accompanied by other tweaks inside and out. Featured Gallery 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 View 16 Photos Chevrolet GMC Truck
