this 63 nova gasser was purchased in casper,wy.(original owner out of wisconsin).the car does run and drive, but will need a bit of work(not been raced or driven, except for around shop area in years.will need gone through)the body is in decent shape for the year of the vehicle, has few dents and rear wells were cut,but nicely done, but will need some repair(cracking and minor rust),car has no hood and trunk lid has been gutted, grill and headlight buckets in good shape as is all glass, however the side windows do not operate(due to gutting the doors)
the interior has also been gutted and replaced with aluminum floors, dash, door panels and aluminum over where back seat would go.it has gauges, tach starting switch and thats it(no wipers, lights horn, etc, this is strictly a race car).there is a 4 pt rollbar,it was a 6 pt but someone cut out the 2 forward bars.has 2 lightweight racing seats(old school type)
the front end is fitted with an older speedway straight axle which is moved forward a few inches.has 3 inch blocks under springs, which i would take off for better look.has dual master brake cylinders
the motor is a 60's 427 tall deck with a tunnel ram and 2 450 holleys.as specified earlier was an old hilborne 8 stack fuel injection unit, wish still had
again i have no clue what has been done to motor internally, tried to locate guy in wisconsin.the car has a motor plate instead of the normal motor mounts, the car also had 8 pipe zoomie headers on it,but somewhere they got switched for the funky homemade headers(i would definitely change, see pics)
the trans is a turbo 350 that replaced the built powerglide and has cable shifter that needs tightening.car has driveshaft safety loop and the frames were tied
the rearend is the original 1957 olds rear with a locker,,again dont know what gears, assume racing
car sits on 15x 4.5 inch wide skinnys on front and 10 x 15 on rear on mt slicks(all will need replaced, but holding air

Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1
Wed, Aug 20 2014Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party. Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
GM under fire from safety advocates over braking problem caused by recall fix
Thu, Feb 6 2020Safety experts are lambasting General Motors over what they say is the automaker’s slow notification of owners of certain 2019 sedans and trucks that a recall fix could cause power braking to fail and increase the risk of a crash, the Detroit Free Press reports. GMÂ’s original recall in December targeted about 550,000 Cadillac CT6 sedans and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups, all from the 2019 model year, over potentially defective electronic stability control and antilock brakes. In that case, GM said the errors would not show up as a diagnostic warning on the instrument cluster. But after GM had done recall work on 162,000 vehicles, about 1,700 owner have complained that their power brakes didnÂ’t work after they had the recall done and then used the OnStar app to start their vehicle. GM then issued a supplemental fix for customers whoÂ’d already had their vehicles serviced. In this case, a diagnostic warning should illuminate saying either “Service Brake Assist” or “Service ECS,” which GM says is a signal that a customer should not drive the vehicle and instead call their dealer, which will tow the vehicle and have it repaired. Safety advocates say the automaker hasnÂ’t gone far enough to protect customers. “The fact that you could potentially start a vehicle and not have brakes is a pretty risky proposition,” Sean Kane, president of the Safety Research and Strategies, which works on auto issues for plaintiffs and governmental organizations, told the Freep. “The fact that they wouldnÂ’t notify owners (sooner) is pretty stunning.” GM told the Freep it was required to notify the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and file paperwork before it notified customers about the original recall, which was made Dec. 12. It then had to investigate and resolve the problem created by its original recall fix before alerting customers. GMÂ’s call center and dealers are contacting the remaining 900 customers who havenÂ’t yet had the update made to the original recall repair. GM also hired a vendor to send recall letters to the 550,000 customers affected by the original recall notifying them about the update. There are no known injuries or deaths related to the problem.
