1984 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged 350

This is a 1984 Monte Carlo SS with a supercharged 350 capable of 1000+ horsepower!  It has new paint but needs to be wet sanded and buffed.  The headliner is sagging.  I changed the interior from the original blue to black.  The seats were re-covered in the original type material.  The dash was covered with a black factory style dash cover.  It looks just like the original except for the color.  The speedometer recently stopped working.  I believe the speedometer cable is broke, which would be a fairly easy fix.  The front suspension was rebuilt with new polyurethane bushings and new springs.  It sets up a little high in the front end, but it should settle down after it is driven for a while.  I have a set of 2in. drop spindles for it, but it drives so good that I decided not to put them on.  The engine is an aftermarket GM block.  It has a Callies rotating assembly with forged blower pistons. The heads are dart pro 1's.  The supercharger is a Weiand 6-71 topped with 2 Holley 750 vacuum secondary blower carbs.  It has a boost referenced MSD programmable distributer.  The distributer comes with a cable to hook to a laptop and the software to tune it with. The supercharger is set at 12% underdriven.  On the 12% underdriven street tune it was dynoed at 500hp.  With the supercharger pulleys swapped around to the race tune it made 1100hp on 12% overdriven.  Swapping the pulleys around requires the use of race fuel, re-jetting the carbs, and lowering the timing.  On the street tune you can fill it up with 87 octane and drive it anywhere without any sign of problems.  The transmission is a built turbo 350 with a 5000 stall converter.  It has a set of BFG T/A drag radials on the back pushed by a set of 308 gears.  The car came factory with air conditioning but the compressor and condenser are off of the car.  I have them in the trunk if anyone wanted to put it back on.  This old Monte is a surprisingly good street car with plenty of get up and go when you want it.

If you have any questions please e-mail me at rod_bender65@yahoo.com.  If you want to talk in person I will send you my number.  Please don't send me messages asking what the reserve is.  It is priced WAY cheaper than what you could build the motor for.  If you have 0 or negative feedback contact me before you bid.  If you do not your bid will be canceled.  I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.    Thanks for looking!

I will try to get more pictures listed tomorrow.

Autonomous tech will drive motorheads off the road

Thu, Nov 9 2017

While autonomous technology could make car travel much safer and more efficient — and automakers and marketers are salivating over the prospect of a "passenger economy" that could potentially generate $7 trillion by 2050 — those of us who enjoy driving are not so stoked. Experts have predicted that as autonomous vehicles are deployed in large numbers, human-driven cars eventually could be outlawed on public roads due to the carnage they create, which is currently more than 41,000 deaths a year in the U.S. alone and climbing. Such scenarios have driving enthusiasts envisioning a "Red Barchetta" style nightmare becoming reality, making Rush lyricist Neil Peart a clairvoyant as well as one of rock's most badass skin-pounders. But there could be a couple of refuges left for motorheads, and they won't be on public roads. As Popular Science's Joe Brown points out in a recent editorial, we're seeing a wave of vehicles being offered by legit mainstream automakers that aren't made for public roads. The poster child of this vanguard is the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which comes with a crate full of goodies that lets you turn the already formidable street-legal muscle car into a drag-strip dominator. Brown also notes that two out of five of the Ford GT's driving modes are for use on the track, "catering to the $450,000 machine's club-racing clientele." We're also currently enjoying the heyday of production off-road-ready pickups that kicked off with the Ford Raptor in 2009. The latest salvo in this escalating war of overachieving trucks is the Chevy Colorado ZR2 that can take on the likes of California's Rubicon Trail without issue. Brown also gives a shout-out to his magazine's Grand Award Winner, the Alta Motors Redshift MX, which "isn't even allowed on public roads" and is "meant for bombing around motocross tracks, big backyards and single-track woods trails." If you follow Brown on Instagram, you know that he's also a two-wheel aficionado, and he points out that sales of off-road bikes are leaving street machines in the dust. Sales of off-highway motorcycles rose 29 percent between 2012 and 2016, according to the Motorcycle Industry Council — compared to 6 percent for road-bike sales during the same period. "That's a nearly 400-percent drubbing," Brown remarks.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

2016 Chevy Volt orders start tomorrow

Thu, May 28 2015

For anyone in California who wants to be among the first adopters of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, then May 28 is very important. Dealers in the Golden State get to be first to place orders for the range-extended electric vehicle on that day, but buyers in the rest of the US just have to wait a few months until their turn comes. This info comes from dealer data gathered by Inside EVs and confirmed by General Motors to AutoblogGreen. According to these slides, dealers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont must wait until August 27 to place an order for the Volt. Finally, the reservations for the rest of the nation open up on October 1. The first production of these new models starts in August after a six-week shutdown at the Hamtramck factory to prepare for it. We already know that the 2016 Volt starts at $33,170, plus $825 destination, before federal or state incentives and is available in seven exterior colors and five interior upholstery options. The sedan is offered in LT and LTZ trims. Opting for the higher level adds features like an upgraded audio system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, front and rear heated leather seats, wireless device charging, and Automatic Park Assist. A navigation system on an 8-inch screen and safety assist suite are also optional, according to these documents. Related Video:
