![]() | I have had this rare Impala for quite some time and the previous 25+ year owner was a good friend of mine. With the exception of one quality repaint 27 years ago in the factory color of Tuxedo Black, the car has remained almost entirely original and in beautiful condition. Even the interior is day-one original and gorgeous. The drive-train is numbers matching with clear castings and block stamps to support that claim. Trunk and undersides are dry and solid. The total miles traveled since 1963 is 119,030 and only 3000 miles in the last 30 years. Purchased new at Crescent Chevrolet in Des Moines Iowa and taken to Kentucky for the original owners college years. She's been here in the Pacific Northwest since the 1980's and always parked in a climate controlled garage. Further description provided below the upcoming photos.
I will also make a few brief comments under certain pictures throughout the photo display. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Impala in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately from as many angles as I could think of. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My telephone number is 503-575-0404 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 5th of November at 7:30PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available.
*If you are outside of the U.S. or Canada, PLEASE contact me to confirm your bidding activity as genuine.* Everyone, please be sure to read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION
I did not set a reserve price on my Super Sport. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see in my driveway at home the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE |
![]() | | This is the original interior. Yes, original. Seats, door panels, headliner, dashboard, etc, are all 50 years old and in wonderful condition. I'm also 99% positive that the carpet is original as well. Even the Chevrolet logo floor mats are originals, not reproductions. One look inside is all it takes. |
![]() | | This is the original, factory installed 409. Very correct and as it has always appeared since 1963. I do have a black positive battery cable to replace the blue one. Hoses, clamps, etc, are correct. The engine runs smoothly and performs well. She always starts easily even when cold and after sitting ignored for extended periods in the garage. The original 4 barrel carburetor was completely rebuilt many years ago and still functions perfectly. Crisp throttle response and smooth idle. There are no ticks, misses, hesitations, knocks or noises of any kind. The only major motor work ever done was a replacing of the timing chain and valve-guide seals less than 1000 miles ago. She will smoke a little if not driven. I'm assuming the valve-guide seals have dried again due to hibernating. This car has primarily sat since the late 70's. She drives beautifully down the road. The powerglide transmission shifts flawlessly. The power steering turns with one finger and the power brakes stop on a dime. All suspension is tight and sound. Cooling system is perfect. Service and maintenance has been done at all times whenever needed. The car has never been neglected. Always well cared for. This car has not experienced even one day of abuse. Respected since new. Currently, I am aware of no needed repairs. All systems operating as intended. |
![]() | | The left set of numbers on the engine block pad perfectly match the vehicle identification number (VIN). The second set of numbers ending in QG designates 1963 409, 340hp for powerglide transmission application. This is the original engine. It doesn't get more documented than this. | ![]() | | The exterior of the car is stunning. No picture has been photo-shopped. Every picture was taken with my point and shoot CANON digital camera the day before this auction started. | ![]() | | Body and paint are very nice. She is an original Tuxedo Black car, paint code 900. Repainted only once almost 30 years ago in correct lacquer. A high shine and mirror finish are on every panel. Body gaps, fit and alignment are excellent! Under very close inspection, there are a handful of minor imperfections. There is no orange peel or fish-eye effect. Even the long and sleek quarter panels are arrow straight with NO waviness of any kind. Clear reflections can be seen throughout the entire car. Very impressive for 30 year old technology and lacquer paint. Each photo depicts her real appearance. She shows and presents extremely well. Paint is impressive and the car is beautiful. Overwhelming compliments and words of praise every time I take her out in public. Black is a difficult and unforgiving color. My Impala wears it proudly. | ![]() | | The vinyl top was replaced during the repainting process almost 30 years ago. | ![]() | | These tiny pimples have been beneath the top in this isolated area since it was put on 3 decades ago. It was actually a Chevrolet-Buick dealership that performed the work. According to the previous owner, they had a very hard time getting the vinyl to lay down smoothly, possibly the adhesive they used. In any case, this flaw has remained unchanged and doesn't take away from the obvious quality of the car but needed to be mentioned. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | All glass is crystal clear and excellent. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Every piece of chrome, all stainless moldings and bright-work is original, NOT reproductions. All exterior trim is original and in impressive 50 year old condition. Both original bumpers are very nice as well. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Even the rear window area is outstanding. | ![]() | | Again, all exterior chrome and stainless moldings are exceptionally nice and original. No ugly pitting or tarnish of any kind! | ![]() | | Side glass is also excellent. All windows roll up and down easily. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | The view from my front porch never looked better. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Look closely at all exterior photos. The body panel fit and gaps are amazing on this car. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Looking down the sides of the car is nothing short of impressive. One of the straightest examples anyone will find. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() |
| ![]() | | | ![]() | | Again, the bumpers are in great original shape showing only light superficial blemishes. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | All 4 factory SS hubcaps are excellent and yes, the steel rims are the rare deep-dish correct originals. The Goodyear Bias-Ply tires were purchased in around 1982 and still have 90% tread remaining. Due to the climate the car is always parked in they are still in perfect shape. No cracking or checking. Regardless, they should be replaced before a long trip. Just one more thing that supports the life she's had. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Entire grille area is beautiful. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Small flaw on original quarter panel molding between the M and P. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | I could have waved in every photo but figured this one would prove my point. The paint is like a mirror. Hello. | ![]() | | Body seams are also gorgeous. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Each and every light works! Even the license plate, glove box and back-up lights. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Factory rear defrost. | ![]() | | This is the original vinyl on all seats. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Door panels and rear side panels are MINT. | ![]() | | Headliner is perfect. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | The chrome in the interior is also very nice and free of the typical pitting found on most cars of this vintage. Impressive to say the least. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Original tissue dispenser. Absolutely everything on the car functions properly. All lights, gauges, tachometer, heater, wipers, horn, etc. The clock and radio have both been rebuilt but have minds of their own and work when they want to. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | The original padded dash is very nice with 2 cracks at the speaker. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Steering wheel is excellent. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Even the "COLD" light works. | ![]() | | I only looked away from the road for a second to snap this pic showing the tach and speedo functioning. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Total mileage since 1963 is 119,030 | ![]() | | | ![]() | | The tachometer has decided to only work when the lights are on. | ![]() |
| ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | There is no evidence of previous accident damage anywhere on the car. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Yep, trunk light. | ![]() | | The entire trunk area is spectacular and I do have the jacking instructions sticker. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Correct spare and original jacking hardware are in-place. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | The weather seal channels are gorgeous. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Back sides of both quarter panels are excellent. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | The undersides of the car are very nice and all of the floor pans are original. The previous owner shared with me that one body mount was repaired 25+ years ago but I am unable to see it. The undercarriage is dry and rock-solid. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | This is possibly the body mount repair mentioned above. I have personally been under the car many times during my ownership. The belly of the car is in great shape stem to stern. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | There are no fluid leaks leaving puddles on my garage floor. Maybe a drip or two after sitting but certainly nothing of concern or requiring attention. Most gaskets were replaced when the timing chain was done. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | | ![]() | | This photo and the next one show the area behind the front bumper. Dry and rock-solid. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Until recently, the original dual exhaust system was still in-place. I really only replaced it for cosmetic purposes. | ![]() | | Original gas tank and trunk pan. | ![]() | | | ![]() | | Original VIN tag. | ![]() | | | | | ![]() | I'm hoping that my appreciation for this car is contagious and that your impression is fully formed by now. Thanks again- ____________________________________________________________ Terms of Sale: 50yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following:I have described my car honestly and to the best of my ability based on over 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. This is a rare and very nice car but certainly not perfect. I have faith in the drivability of my Impala. I enjoy driving this car without concern but she is 50 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected based on her age and original components. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding, NOT after. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. Free and clear Certificate Of Title will be provided. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My telephone number is 503-575-0404
PAYMENT TERMS
A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements please contact me BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland Oregon for over 9 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. *The remaining balance in-full is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds.* Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding and that my payment time-lines can be met. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPINGI am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this entire process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately dispatched trucking company. They have handled my transport needs perfectly for the last several years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them before I started using only private carriers were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1200.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. *If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me to confirm your bidding activity as authentic.* If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or even a low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids at any point for these reasons. Email or phone contact is fine. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.

The world of off-road pickups sure seems like it's getting crowded, but the reality is that half-ton trucks were always pretty capable, even with what seemed like fairly basic 4x4 packages. It wasn't until recently that manufacturers really started to carve out different off-road niches for their mainstream pickup offerings. With the introduction of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X (alongside its mechanical twin, the Chevy Silverado ZR2), the crowd has grown even thicker. Even we have trouble keeping up with the increased segmentation of off-road pickup trucks, so we threw together this handy guide to help you understand just where these various packages fit into the broader pickup hierarchy. Let's dive in. Your basics If we say "Z71" or "FX4" to you, both will probably ring a bell. That's because they've been around a few days short of forever and their respective customers have grown so used to these package codes that OEMs got into the habit of just plastering them on the side of so-equipped truck beds. Anybody who sells a pickup truck offers some sort of basic off-road prep package like this one. Z71 is found on GM vehicles; FX4 is Ford's. Ram just calls it "Off Road Group," but no matter what you call them, they're all pretty similar. Typical upgrades for this category include some additional ground clearance, a basic all-terrain tire, heavy-duty suspension upgrades and likely either a limited-slip or locking rear differential. These are pretty handy for anything beyond a rutted dirt road. On newer trucks — especially on higher trim levels — you'll probably also get some dedicated off-road drive modes. Mid-range This is where things start to get interesting. To qualify for this category, a locking rear differential is a must. Most of the names in this segment are well-established too, though some (Nissan Titan Pro-4X, anyone?) may not necessarily be on your radar. The Toyota Tundra TRD Pro checks in here, as does the Ram Rebel, Chevy Silverado Trail Boss and GMC Sierra AT4 (no X!). Realistically, if there's somewhere you need to go and one of these trucks won't do it, you might want to consider a helicopter. But it's 2021, and our thirst for capability is strong, so of course, there's a way to spend more of your money on this type of thing. Onward! Entry-hardcore Here we are, the home of the new 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X and Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. This is a tiny niche, otherwise occupied only by the Ford F-150 Tremor.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro beat some very steep competition to earn the Golden Calipers as Motor Trend's Car of the Year. The magazine praised the sixth generation's fantastic engines, great handling, and lighter platform. "Our 2016 Car of the Year, the Chevrolet Camaro, is one of the finest driving vehicles in the world at any price," editor-in-chief Edward Loh said, "though its price is well within reach of the average consumer." The Camaro conquered some high-performance challengers to take the victory, including the Audi TT, Mazda MX-5 Miata, and Mercedes AMG GT S. It also bested technologically cutting-edge vehicles like the BMW 7 Series and Toyota Mirai. The latest Honda Civic rounded out the competition. To earn the prestigious award, nine judges evaluated the finalists in six categories: advancement in design, engineering excellence, safety, efficiency, value, and performance of intended function. The Volkswagen Golf won last year. In an engaging story on Motor Trend's website, it explains what a revelation the new coupe is and that they consider the model the best production pony car ever. The piece is well worth a read. Motor Trend also handed out the Person of the Year honor to Subaru of America President and Chief Operating Officer Thomas Doll. It praised him for the Japanese brand's massive success in the US like tripling deliveries since 2007. "By any measure, the business Tom Doll leads is an outstanding success," editor-at-large Angus MacKenzie said. "And he is the person whose unique vision and quiet leadership made it happen." It won't be long before we see the official, production-ready Chevrolet SS sedan (hint: it will be revealed this weekend). And to tide us over until all of the official details are released about the US-spec version, we have this: the Holden VF Commodore SS V show car, a performance-oriented brother to the Calais V that debuted earlier in the week. What we really want to know about the SS V is what lies underhood, but General Motors' Australian arm is keeping that under wraps until the Chevy model breaks cover this weekend. Nevertheless, it's obvious that the SS V will be a serious performer, with all sorts of aggressive cues driving that home on the car's exterior. Take a look at those 20-inch billet aluminum wheels that hide big Brembo brake calipers up front, the sculpted hood and front fascia, the wide air intakes with LED running lights and the quad exhaust pipes out back. It's like the Pontiac G8 GXP never even left us. Inside, there's a sporty-looking interior with aluminum accents that mix in with black leather and suede surfaces, all tied together in the middle with an eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It looks great, and again, while we don't know anything regarding powertrain details, it makes us oh-so happy to see a manual shifter smack dab in the middle of the center console.
