Offering a few of my projects from 30 years of building 59's in the next several weeks due to a possible move this fall. Have brother-in-law who is OTR owner/operator with access to 10 car hauling trailer, so I can take it if nessessary. It will only be listed once on ebay, then go to auction with estate sale via Vanderbrinks/proxibid or similar. This project is very similar to the one sold at Lambrects for 9k, but really a more solid car overall at a much lower price. This is a 59 Impala 2 door htp. It was side swiped on the drivers side in the early 70's and has been in storage since. Original white 936A car with turquoise interior. Was a 6cyl/3 speed car, but has no motor or trans in it now. The interior is all there with the exception of the front door panels. There is a replacement door and upper quarter half(with door jamb and inner panel) that comes with it. It will still need lower qtr sections on drivers side. I also have gather a complete set of drivers side trim that is nice and restorable. These pieces all come with the car, but like I said, you will need to purchase left lower qtrs. The floors and trunk floor will need replaced, as they all do, as you can see in the pics. You may also need to do some work to the left wheel tub, although it doesn't look too bad and did not even get into the window post, or it probably would have broken the rear glass. This is definitely a savable car as hard as these are to find and the prices they bring. Not for the faint at heart, but very much repairable. What you see in the pics is what you get, and as I said, I am including a full left side set of trim. The frame looks to be solid in all of the common tor areas. It may need some minor repair in the very rear corners to the gussets. The car rolls and steers easy and tires hold air for easy loading. I also have a tractor to assist. Overseas bidders are welcome, however a tractor/trailer cannot get in my private road, so in the past I have loaded the car on my trailer and met the transport at an agreed on local site at 65109. I have no problem doing this for you , as I have done for several over the years. The car is sold as-is where-is and will not leave the property until all funds have cleared my bank account. Immediate deposit required with buy now options, otherwise full payment expected in 7 days with 1000.00 deposit at end of auction. Buyer is responsible for all shipping cost and arrangements(allow for extra qtr panel unless you want me to cut the lower rusty section off and stick it through the rear seat opening). The car can set here for up to 30 days after auction ends. Will try to ad pics of trunk and trim by tomorrow. Thanks for looking! Recharge Wrap-up: BYD electric buses at Special Olympics, hybrids perform better than rated
Mon, Aug 3 2015A new study finds that real-world fuel economy of hybrids could be significantly higher than EPA ratings. Researchers at the University of Vermont, with the help of their own "total on-board tailpipe emissions measurement system," found the fuel savings of Toyota Camry Hybrid over a standard Camry to exceed its sticker values by 18 percent on the highway and 33 percent in the city. The results of this study suggest that the projections of the fuel and emissions benefits of hybrids could be adjusted to reflect more these more positive real world values. The study's authors, Britt A. Holmen and Karen M. Sentoff, say more research is warranted based on these findings, and that "similar studies can be used to develop robust models of all types of HEV platforms under actual driving conditions and improve quantitative estimates of the future fleet contributions to the US CO2 emissions inventory and petroleum consumption." Read more at Green Car Congress. The 2016 Chevrolet Volt made an appearance at the 2015 Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Chevy displayed the silver Volt alongside a Camaro and Malibu of the same color and model year. BYD electric buses provided transportation at the Special Olympics 2015 World Games in Long Beach, CA. Shuttling 6,500 athletes required the help of multiple charter companies, including local buses from the Chinese automaker. "BYD stepped up majorly as one of our key supporters and their tremendous efforts made our athletes feel welcomed," says Long Beach Community Foundation President and CEO, and 2015 Host Town Transportation Coordinator Marcelle Epley. New Chevrolet Silverado to be revealed on Facebook on Thursday
Tue, 11 Dec 2012There's not much to see here, but if you're one of those waiting for the reveal of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, above is the teaser image that Chevrolet posted on its Facebook page. We've seen the truck in form-fitting camo before, and even less can be made out here beyond those seriously punchy Silverado-esque fenders and the knowledge that the projector-beam headlamps teased previously do indeed work. We'll have to wait until Thursday for a full perusal of the "bold exterior design" and "careful attention given to every detail" we've been promised.
Gathering intel and rumors, magnesium and aluminum contribute to the Silverado's weight loss plan, the purported "High Country" top-tier trim will contribute to luxury pickup truck competition and profit margins and the next-generation small-block V8 will contribute to improved fuel economy. On the engine note, there have been rumors of available V6 engines, and when Facebook user John Jones asked "Where's your answer to that EcoBoost Chevy?", the Bowtie replied "stay tuned on the 13th. We think you'll be pleased...".
Along with the "Raise the Bar" tag, Chevrolet says of the Silverado, "You asked, we delivered." You can watch the reveal live on Chevrolet's Facebook page at 9:30 am EST, this Thursday, December 13. The GMC Sierra 1500 will also be there, and we'll see both in person at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts
Wed, 27 Feb 2013There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
