For your consideration:..........  ARIZONA EL CAMINO. NOW IN IDAHO..........!
One very clean, straight, El Camino SS Tribute. New paint, 350/350....... cloned out to be a Super Sport with SS 396 emblems on fenders.
Odometer reads 46,000 miles, but I believe there's only @ 23,000 since rebuild. Runs Very strong.
Rebuilt 350 tranny with Stage II shift kit, done by local transmission shop in June 2013,
and a tranny cooler was also added.
Painted 3 years ago, by local professional Paint and Body shop. Paint is just beautiful, NO dings, dents, or scratches. I've included 2 pics (red) of Elky on the day I bought it. It shows the hard fiberglass tonneau cover on it. Drives great, front end, steering is tight, rear air shocks, and more. There is some minor paint blistering behind the driver's side rear wheel well.

NEW:
New SS Cowl hood.
New Aluminum intake.
New Aluminum water pump, high volume.
New Chrome 600 cfm carb.
New Chrome Edelbrock air cleaner.
New Corrosion resistance alternator.
New front headlamps, Front, and rear lights, lenses, etc.
New black grille.

New fuel pump.
New Hood pins.
New door sill plates..
New wiper arms/blades.

New chrome bumpers. Rear needs to be mounted, have all hardware.
New stainless everything front to rear.
New kick panels........ the ones that accept 6X9 speakers.

Sits on nice, newer, Super Sport wheels, with B.F Goodrich raised white letter tire.15 " Rear tires are wide! I can list exact sizes a.s.a.p.
New Dual Flowmasters. 50's series. They run, then drop behind rear end for a clean look.
Sound deadener.
New Powder coated headers.
Electronic ignition.
New Optima Red Top. ( needs new battery tray...... it's corroded from previous battery acid).
All new rubber seals for doors, wing vent, under hood, hood to cowl, etc.
New hood heat insulation.
All fluids changed, and freshly tuned. NO leaks. Everything works as should. The only thing I would change is the dash bezel It's not cracked, shows age, but could simply be redone.
Sweep speedo, non a/c.
Bench seat needs re-upholstered.
Heater fan makes a weird noise, but I never use it. Driven in summer, only after streets have been washed of salt.
If your unfamiliar with El Caminos, there's a storage compartment behind driver's seat. The edges of the square opening was slightly rusted but was painted with a rust inhibitor. It can be covered with new compartment by buyer (not included).

All brand NEW interior from OPGI still in boxes, door panels, water shields, window/door handles, springs, spring washers, arm rests, interior/exterior mirrors, headliner, wind lace, sail panels, carpet kit, rear view mirror, sun visors, door, window, and wing vent handles, the list goes on. The door panels, and carpet kit are the top of the line ones. Everything to finish interior is there. I was going to dye dash to match all new black interior. Thousands in receipts. You finish inside, with all the new parts that go with it. After that, this car would blend right in on a showroom floor.
I literally have $$ THOUSANDS$$ in receipts, not to mention shop labor rates. Someone will make out like a bandit, but more important, very pleased. No disappointments.

Car looks, and runs GREAT. A real head turner, and a true American muscle car. I'm basically the 2nd owner of this Arizona Elky. Assembled in Van Nuys, California. Lots of receipts, and build sheet.

The bed (does have a few dents), was protected by a hard fiberglass tonneau cover, (Protect-O-Top). I still have this serialized numbered f/glass cover if you have any interest. They are very expensive these days to fit that exact year, would look great painted black. Light surface rust on under carriage, (a car this age..... they all have some, NOTHING major, nothing even close to rotted thru, it's just your typical light surface rust. I've seen 10 yr. cars with twice as much, so have no concerns about rust issues.), but mostly that black tarry stuff that possibly came from factory. I could easily scrape it off, and shine it up with rattle can paint, but just didn't want to conceal anything.
Pics really don't show true color. I will add one a.s.a.p. It's a light metallic, blue with gold specs. Pics were taken on overcast morning. When in the sunlight you can see the gold flakes better. The paint on bed is presentable. It was never color sanded, as I planned on the "spray in bed liner". For the buyer, they'll obviously see there is no rust. I didn't want to spray it, because I felt a potential buyer would be skeptical over covering up any "sins". Have you ever wondered what lies underneath some of these spray in liners???

If you're thinking of restoring a 1970......... consider this one. It's mostly finished, and I know for certain I will be taking a loss. This El Camino was purchased new, and was a one owner who worked on transformers for the power company, and I'm guessing he was in his 30's when he purchased it. After owner passed away he handed down the vehicle to his daughter, who kept it in a barn. I bought it because it was so original, but mostly because it was RUST FREE, since it lived it's life in Arizona. Engine compartment needs detailing, It's rather dirty. LASER straight...... body lines are perfect. It's one honest El Camino, and I feel the original owner took good care of it, unlike some El Caminos which have been abused over the years. Never wrecked, and it shows.

I will change pics soon. The ones posted DO NOT show true color, it's a really nice ice blue, with gold flakes. One VERY small chip where hood meets head light housing, approx less than 1/2" chip another much smaller chip lust above rear window. Easily fixed, but just wanted to disclose that. NOTE: All NEW interior is BLACK. Dash is perfect, no problems mechanically, electrically, etc. Doors open, and close freely, no play, or sagging door hinges. With the brand new 600 cfm carb, this gets up, and goes, please just don't expect it to be a race car, nor a rust bucket. It's not. Not butchered, or hacked. You finish interior. Bid with confidence. Seller has the right to end auction at any time. Hagerty will insure this car at $25,000.00. Feel free to check with them. I'm only asking the listed price due to health reasons. I'm not getting any better, and have sold all my other cars in my small collection, and plan to have only one 4X4. That's all this "old guy" needs.

Note: I have owned the vehicle for approx. 6 years. It's been my Sunday driver, and it's a fun ride. Always get waves, and thumbs up, guys naturally like, women LOVE it,(they drool....lol). I've only put on about 1,000 miles since I've owned it, I am disabled, and don't drive much. All the new engine parts listed are about 10 months old, but weren't put on in until May 2013. When intake manifold was swapped out, my mechanic expressed how clean the inside was. I think the valve covers are a little cheesy looking, I should have gone with something else......oh well. Strong running.Wires shown in one pic. are from an old 8 track stereo I removed. I do have the brand new fender tip, and cowl hood stainless trim. I don't have the trim for rear, and front glass. Paint is nicer than most I've seen. Never driven on freeway, and driven only in summer. Never wrecked, and no bondo. You'd be hard pressed to find such a straight Elky, then do all I've done to it. Brake booster is rusty, and engine bay just needs to be detailed. I encourage anyone who is interested to call.  Car will be sold "As is, where is" with no warranty. Buyer please call me to help assist with your shipping company. License plates not included. When Cashier's check clears, you get the vehicle. Car will not leave until paid for. Clear title in hand.  I am trying to very detailed, and honest as I can. Thank you for taking the time to read my ad. Buy with confidence, and good luck.

This Elky would make an awesome CHRISTMAS gift for that El Camino lover in your life.

Bidders please give me a call if you if you have any questions, or concerns. My name is Mike, Ph. #: 208 968 9729

Petrolicious profiles one man and his duo of '64 Impalas

Wed, Jul 1 2015

Restoring any vintage car is a labor of love. In the end, the investment of time and money is often more than the vehicle is realistically worth on the open market. Deciding to take all of that work on yourself doesn't make things any easier, but it can only increase your connection to the project. Don Rogers, the subject of the latest video from Petrolicious, shows this passion perfectly with his duo of 1964 Chevrolet Impalas – a hardtop and convertible. Both of these Chevys had been sitting for years before Rogers got his talented hands on them, and he did all of the work himself. Now, driving the pair is therapy for him, and he's not worried about anything breaking because he knows he can put it back together. Rogers says he enjoys wrenching on his vehicles even more than going to shows. Doing your own work comes with advantages, like tailoring a project's look to your preferences. It's not original, but Rogers used the crimson interior color from a '59 Impala on his convertible to make the interior pop with the top down. Rogers is undoubtedly a talented builder, and his work is worth checking out in the latest from Petrolicious. Related Video:

McLaren and Alonso will use Chevy engines at Indy 500

Tue, Dec 4 2018

Fernando Alonso will have a Chevrolet engine in his McLaren when the double Formula One champion attempts to win next year's Indianapolis 500 in his second attempt, the British team announced on Tuesday. The 37-year-old Spaniard led 27 laps last year on his debut at The Brickyard in a Honda-powered Andretti Autosport car before retiring with an engine problem with 21 laps to go. The 2018 Indy 500 winner, Australian Will Power, won with Chevrolet-powered Team Penske last May. "Having Chevrolet power behind me means we're putting ourselves in the best possible position to compete at the front," said Alonso in a McLaren statement. The double Monaco Grand Prix winner, who won the Le Mans 24 Hours with Toyota this year, left Formula One at the end of the season last month and is targeting Indianapolis as the final part of the "Triple Crown of Motorsport": winning the Formula One championship (or Monaco), Le Mans and the Indy 500. The late Briton Graham Hill, also a two-times Formula One champion who died in 1975, is the only one to have done it, completing the triple in 1972.Reporting by Alan BaldwinRelated Video: Motorsports Chevrolet McLaren Racing Vehicles IndyCar

GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
