Custom 1986 Corvette With Glass Top on 2040-cars
Linwood, North Carolina, United States
This is a custom 1986 Corvette. It has a 91-94 rear bumper cover so it looks like a 91-94 Corvette. It has a glass top, side ground effects kit. New chrome aftermarket wheels, custom stereo and a customized interior. The interior has matching burgundy pieces all throughout the interior. The engine is an LT1 that's runs strong. The transmission has a stout shift kit. Its what I call a dash rattler. The interior needs the rear hatchback area replaced. The front is in good shape. It has a large flip screen stereo which is also a TV, DVD, CD, Navigation, XM, etc. The car needs minor attention here and there. NOTHING major, just some small attentions to detail. The AC does not work. It needs a new electrical plug. The dash is fully functional but I can only read the gauges when I have my sunglasses on. It needs a new window regulator on the drivers side. I am taking the regulator out tomorrow to see if it can be easily repaired. The heater knob is missing but I ordered a new one today from Corvette Central. The drivers west needs redone. Right now I just have a seat cover over it. It is a daily driver and runs strong with no issues. I just replaced the battery and flushed the radiator. The front tires are about new and the rears at about 50% For some reason Experian shows damage to the car. I have the title and it is clear with NO damage. NHTSA ends GM steering investigation without seeking a recall
Wed, Jun 8 2022DETROIT — U.S. safety regulators have closed an investigation into sticky power steering on thousands of older General Motors SUVs and will not seek a recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says GM in 2014 issued “special coverage” to fix the problem on the Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain and other models. The coverage replaced a steering gear with an improved one. The agency said a recall isn't needed because of the coverage and low complaint and warranty repair rates. The agency opened the probe in June of 2020 into steering problems affecting an estimated 781,000 of the SUVs from the 2010 through 2012 model years. Increased friction could make it feel like the steering wheel is stuck. But GM said the SUVs could still be turned, although with more effort than usual. “In view of the special coverage, low rate of failure and low potential hazard to drivers, this preliminary evaluation is closed,” the agency wrote in documents posted Wednesday on its website. Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
