3 DAY AUCTION ONLY !!!!!!!!! If you've always wanted a Corvette but thought you couldn't afford one, heres your chance. This is a whole lot of car for a small amount of money. This is a 1979 Corvette with the 350 engine and automatic trans. Don't think its the original engine but not absolutely sure. This car has been off the road a while as the owner passed away a few years ago and it has been parked since. He was in the process of fixing some minor things such as the wipers as the wiper motor is missing. This was and is a running driving car although it needs some work to be road worthy. The engine runs but has a good bit of blow by. There is a little lifter noise but an oil and filter change may fix that. Remember this has been sitting so you have to expect it needs a little attention. It has a new carburetor that needs adjusted but it is brand new. All the AC parts are there but the belt is off of it. It has a new radiator installed. The Vette has the painted T-Tops on it that are in good condition except for the inside liner on one of them, they latch fine. The drivers seat needs some work but good for a daily driver, pass side seems fine just needs a good cleaning as does the complete interior. Door panels are pretty good, no visible damage, dash top has some cracks, carpet is dirty but all there. The carpeted panels that go on the sides of the console are gone, think they just deteriorated. It has the tilt and telescopic steering column that's in good condition but the leather on the wheel looks bad. The rear compartment carpet is fair, just needs cleaning. The factory wheels are all there including the center caps, how rare is that? The tires hold air but have dry rot. Now the body on this Corvette is pretty nice for a 79. All the white looking areas you see in the pictures is just where the paint has come off for some reason, just need refinished. There are a few minor cracks or flawed places on it but nothing major, think Ive included pics of most of those areas. Guys this is a great project car and you can be riding with minimal work depending on how nice you want to make it. The buy it now price is extremely low for what your getting. You don't find a low price Vette everyday. Also the frame on this car is super nice, do not see any rust issues at all. That's about all I know to tell you so if you have questions please email me and I will get back to you asap. Checkout my feedback guys as its well over 500 and all positive. You don't get great feedback like that if you lie and cheat people, I tell it like it is. Read the description carefully, look at the pics and you will know exactly what your bidding on. If you have less than 10 positive feedback you must contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. This corvette is for sale locally also so I reserve the right to end the auction early should it sell. Thanks for reading my novel and good luck should you decide to bid on this great 1979 Corvette, running driving project car. REMEMBER THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!!! It has a clear VA title.

On Dec-05-13 at 17:36:55 PST, seller added the following information:

Just wanted to clarify a thing or two from questions ive been getting. The miles are 100,00 plus what is now on the odometer. Don't think theres any 79 Corvettes out there with 35000 miles on it. Sorry for the confusion and if you need to retract your bid that's fine. Also the old battery wont hold charge but it can be jump started. Guys this is a 79 Corvette that has been sitting quite awhile. Please be realistic when you look at the pics and the description and realize its a low priced running project car. Hope this helps and also the car is located in Union WV 24983 just like the auction states. Thanks for all the interest and if you still have questions let me know. Checkout my feedback, over 550 and all positive. Im not on here to scam anyone.

My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry

Wed, Dec 1 2021

The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer.  The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

Race Recap: Rolex 24 at Daytona was fast and feisty

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Let the record show that victory at the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona went to the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Target/Ford EcoBoost Riley DP driven by Verizon IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan and NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Kyle Larson. The winner did 740 laps to cover 2,634.3 miles in 24 hours and 57.667 seconds. That's a statement to this year's pace in spite of 18 cautions, two more than last year: the Michael Shank Racing Ligier got pole with a time of 1:39.194, slower than last year's pole time of 1:38.270; however, the winning car last year only did 695 laps. The fight for top honors was shaved to a four-car battle over the first third of the event. The No. 02 Ganassi car took the lead on the first lap, swapping it well into the night with the No. 01 Ganassi car, the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, and the defending champion No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP, all of them staying within about 20 seconds of one another. The Action Express car had a fuel connector come loose and lost three laps getting towed back to the pits to have it reattached, but was back in the lead 18 hours in. The No. 01 Ganassi car dropped out with recurring clutch problems 22 hours in, retiring not long after. A race-within-the-race is where the concluding action happened, a seven minute, 30-second dash from the end of the last caution to the checkered flag. During the penultimate pit stops with an hour to go, Dixon was in second place followed Jordan Taylor in the Wayne Taylor Racing DP into the pits but beat him out, taking the lead. The Action Express car was in third. In the last pit stops of the race, Dixon gained even more time, getting a four-second advantage over Taylor. Then a full-course caution came out twenty minutes before the finish when a Prototype Challenge car hit the wall and caught fire, bunching up the field. That closed the pits, but the Wayne Taylor Racing car had to pit during that yellow because of a miscalculation of driver time. No driver can be behind the wheel for more than four hours in a six-hour period but Jordan Taylor was going to go over, so he came in to swap out for brother Ricky. That cost the team any chance of second place, since they took an additional drive-through penalty for entering closed pits. When the track went green again, Sebastien Bourdais in the Action Express car stayed all over Dixon for the final five laps but couldn't get around him.
