1965 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe w/ factory 396
Glen Green with Black interior
Original survivor car from California
Original car - 70,180 miles
Originally purchased at Courtesy Chevrolet in San Jose California
One of the 618 Corvette 396 Coupes made.
Factory options include:
M20 4-speed transmission
Power disc brakes
Power windows
AM/FM radio w/ power antenna
Teak steering wheel on telescopic steering column
Car also has American Racing special D-spoke wheels made specifically for Corvette w/ disc brakes.
Parts that have been replaced through the years that I know of:
Fan clutch
Spark plugs/wires
hoses/clamps
Windshield
Passenger side muffler
front head pipes
Radiator - was bought new from Chevy dealer in '87
The engine had a bad piston when I bought the car and was gone through. Engine has all of the original components
with the exception of the transistor ignition, which was gone when I bought the car.
I have owned this car over 26 years, and have put 80 miles on it in those years. It has been kept indoors, always.
The exterior of the car has good patina, showing rock chips in the expected places. The car has had some paint
work, most likely in the '70s, as it has aged consistently with the rest of the finish and is nearly impossible to
distinguish where the work has been done.
This coupe is in excellent condition with a consistent patina, showing even wear throughout the car. This is not a
restored car and has the look and feel that a true survivor should. This car has not been detailed and is presented
exactly as it has been stored for the past 25+ years. And yes, that peace sign in the rear window is from back in
the day...
This Corvette drives excellently, with a very tight feel with zero bumps/rattles. Clutch and transmission work
effortlessly as you run through the gears and the car stops very well with the factory power disc brakes.
If you are looking for a restored Corvette then this is not the car for you. If you want an honest survivor with a
consistent look and feel throughout, and a car that you aren't afraid to drive, across country if you are so
inclined, than you will find none better equipped.

Chevy to offer new Cruze as a hatchback in the US

Mon, Jun 22 2015

Chevrolet plans to offer a five-door hatchback version of the new Cruze in the United States, according to the latest intel from Automotive News. In addition to the sedan form we're familiar with, the outgoing Cruze was offered as a hatchback in some markets overseas, but not in America – a decision which Mark Reuss, GM's EVP in charge of product development, characterized as "a pre-bankruptcy planning mistake." The new Chevy Cruze is set to debut later this week. Although the American automaker has yet to confirm which bodystyles will be offered where, AN reports that a five-door model was already shown to dealers at their national meeting in Las Vegas last week. AN points out that the Ford Focus with which the new Cruze will be contending is offered as both a sedan and hatchback in America, with the latter accounting for some 40 percent of sales.

GM patent reveals new two-stage turbocharger

Fri, Jun 24 2016

Modern turbochargers may be some of the best ever made, but performance is something that engineers are always trying to improve. According to GM Inside News, General Motors (GM) is hoping to alleviate some of the negative aspects of a two-stage turbocharger setup with a newly-patented design. The patent, that was filed on May 19, 2016, reveals a clever bypass system that allows the engine, a four-cylinder unit, to optimize both the low-pressure and high-pressure inlets for its respective functions. According to the filing, a conventional two-stage turbocharger setup is engineered to allow both turbines to operate simultaneously at low and mid engine speeds. At high engine speeds, only the low-pressure turbine works. The setup can't isolate either the low or high pressure side, which can impair low-end performance. GM's new two-stage turbocharger setup looks to eliminate this by linking the high-pressure turbo to the exhaust manifold through the high-pressure inlet duct. The low-pressure turbo is attached to the high-pressure turbo by a low-pressure inlet duct, which is linked to a connecting channel. A single actuator that is housed in the exhaust manifold creates a bypass that can opens the high-pressure inlet or close the connecting channel. Depending on what the engine load and speed is, the ECU guides the actuator—a single rotating spindle with discs corresponding to flanges on the high and low pressure sides—to isolate one of the two turbos. Isolating the turbos allow the respective inlets to be engineered for the best possible fluid dynamic performance. The setup should increase performance and decrease lag. There's no word on what car this setup will make an appearance on, but it will most likely be used in premium vehicles before trickling down to the rest of GM's vehicles. 7 major automakers to build open EV charging network

Wed, Jul 26 2023

A new joint venture established by BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis will build a new North American electric vehicle charging network on a scale designed to compete with Tesla's industry-benchmark Supercharger network. The 30,000-plus planned new chargers will accommodate both Tesla's almost-standard North American Charging System (NACS) and existing automakers' Combined Charging System (CCS) options, effectively guaranteeing compatibility with the vast majority of current and upcoming electric models — whether they're from one of the involved automakers or not.  "With the generational investments in public charging being implemented on the Federal and State level, the joint venture will leverage public and private funds to accelerate the installation of high-powered charging for customers. The new charging stations will be accessible to all battery-powered electric vehicles from any automaker using Combined Charging System (CCS) or North American Charging Standard (NACS) and are expected to meet or exceed the spirit and requirements of the U.S. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program." Critically, the automakers involved will have a say in how the charging tech is implemented, guaranteeing that the hardware will play nicely with each automaker's in-house charging systems. Hyundai and Kia, for example, were hesitant to jump on board the Tesla NACS bandwagon earlier this year over concerns that the Supercharger network is insufficient for powering the two automakers' 800-volt charging systems; similar tech is used by Volkswagen and Porsche.  In addition to providing much-needed capacity and high-output charging for America's growing fleet of electric cars and trucks, the new network will integrate seamlessly with each automaker's in-app and in-vehicle features, rather than forcing customers to use third-party tools and payment systems, as is the case with some existing public charging infrastructure.  "The functions and services of the network will allow for seamless integration with participating automakersÂ’ in-vehicle and in-app experiences, including reservations, intelligent route planning and navigation, payment applications, transparent energy management and more. In addition, the network will leverage Plug & Charge technology to further enhance the customer experience," the announcement said.
