1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Convertible! 140 Hp 4 Speed! Gorgeous Car! on 2040-cars
Saint Louis, Missouri, United States
1965 was the first year for the totally redesigned Corvair. This particular example is finished in period correct Medira Maroon over a beautiful black interior and is a rare Corsa convertible model which featured a higher output 4 carburetor 140 HP air cooled flat 6 cylinder engine. This uncommon classic also boasts a 4 speed manual transmission and rally dash.
As can be seen in the photos, this Corvair is in superb condition having received a thorough cosmetic and mechanical restoration over the last 3 to 4 years. Interior is all new, paint is approximately 1 year old and was done professionally at a considerable expense. This car also has 15" Chevy rally wheels, new weather strips, a rebuilt engine and transmission, new clutch as well as rebuilt suspension and brakes and more... The result is a show quality vehicle that can be driven on a regular basis. The car tracks perfectly straight even at highway speeds and brakes solid with no swerving, it is a blast to drive and garners a lot of attention wherever it goes! All lights function properly, there are no electrical issues, no battery drains, car always starts readily and runs strong. Overall I would rate this example as a very solid 3+ high quality driver. It is very showable and could even be an award contender at local level shows. However, it is not flawless or a trailer queen. Chrome presents well but does show some age, convertible top is older and in average condition but is totally usable as is. Trunk compartment is extremely nice, engine compartment is presentable but would benefit from a thorough detailing. Undercarriage is extremely solid with no rot or rust damage. Please view the photos and contact me with questions. I have sold literally hundreds of cars on the internet over the years and will gladly answer all questions as well as assist with shipping arrangements. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs. $500 deposit is required to secure the vehicle, cash, cashier's check, and bank wire transfer are all acceptable forms of payment. I HAVE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS and 2 videos, serious potential buyers please email me for more photos and links to videos, or call, Jamie 314-368-4564. Anyone who wishes to see the car in person is more than welcome to, just contact me to make arrangements. Corvair Corsa Convertibles in this condition are a very rare find, act quickly! I have a tremendous amount of money tied up in this car and am not in any way desperate to sell it. If you what to make fixer-upper offers, then buy a fixer-upper and find out for yourself how expensive it is to restore a car, not to mention the time commitment to get it sorted out after restoration. For those that understand the value inherent in buying a "done" car, this one is for you, all serious offers will be considered. |

GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry
Wed, Dec 1 2021The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer. The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).
GM offering factory-backed extended warranty for Chevys, GMCs, Buicks and Cadillacs
Mon, Oct 15 2018Cars are generally more reliable than ever before. When things do go wrong, every automaker offers some form of factory warranty (in most cases at least three years and 36,000 miles, though many extend even longer), providing peace of mind to new-car buyers that many faults will be fixed at no charge to the customer. Starting today, GM is offering a new optional plan that will extend the factory warranty on all new Chevy, GMC, Buick and Cadillac products. In the past, extended warranties have been offered as dealer add-ons, with all profits from these sales going to the dealership. GM's new program can be viewed as another nail in the the looming dealership-model coffin. According to Automotive News, some dealers aren't happy to see GM cut into their business like this, saying that it helps GM far more than it does dealers. GM says the new program will help keep customers in the GM family. Customers are also more likely to visit a GM service center rather than going to an independent repair shop. Currently, new Chevy and GMC vehicles come with three-year/36,000-mile warranties. Buicks and Cadillacs are covered for 4 years or 50,000 miles. The new program extends Chevy and GMC warranties to five years or 60,000 miles. Buick and Cadillac warranties extend to six years or 70,000 miles. GM, citing IHS Markit, says most owners keep new cars for about 6.8 years, so these warranties will cover most of the length of their ownership. The extended warranty will add between $1,000 and $2,000 to the price of a vehicle, and the additional cost can be rolled into the vehicle's purchase or lease price. Unlike many dealer extensions, the factory program covers the vehicle no matter who owns it. That should help increase the car's resale value if it's sold within the covered timeframe. GM says there's no deductible and no need to file a claim form when getting warranty repairs. Additionally, dealerships can continue to sell their own extended warranties or service contracts.
