1971 Chevy Chevelle
400 V8 TH350 Automatic transmission
This Chevelle project is as rust free as anyone could hope for!The only reason I am moving on is my 15 year old son decided he wanted an LS1 trans am instead after I started the resto. New quarter panels were installed because of dents, NOT rust! I have pictures of under the quarter panels on my phone and it is amazing. The floors are also incredibly rust free. Since it was to be for my son I also did the full complete Power disc brake conversion.New parts and high lights include:
  • New Power Disc Brake Booster
  • New Master Cyl
  • New Rotors and Calipers
  • New Front Bearings and seals
  • New front spindles
  • New brake Lines and fluid
  • New Cowl Hood
  • New Grille (in box)
  • New front and Rear Transmission seals and fluid
  • New diff Fluid
  • New passenger door skin not installed
  • Oil, anti freeze, hoses, valve covers and gaskets, plugs
  • This is an AC car no refrigerant in the system but is complete
  • Front seat is reupholstered I have New upholstery for the rear seats. They are all blue, door panels are white but need replacing anyway.Windshield is cracked.Bumpers, front bezels, grille, hood and all lights are removed for body work/paint. Easily installed but if I was buying this car I would want them off so I could choose the paint color and finish the car. I have all the parts and they are included. No carpet as again I would want to see how clean the floor pans are. I also have pictures of the floor pans underneath before undercoating. The pans were sanded for adhesion of coating only and are the cleanest un-restored I have ever seen. I wanted a safe rust free car to build for my son, too bad he couldn't wait! The original color was a copper so please dont confuse that for rust. The darker interior floor pan color is the factory sound heat proofing not rust.

This is a running drivable car! I got a lot of questions regarding this so I guess my ad wasn't clear. The picture of the engine was to show how clean the rockers etc are. No gunk. The car starts and runs and drives. It sit now as the picture with the cowl hood on. The engine is in and runs great. Put the bumpers and lights on and bolt in the front seat and belts and it could be driven home! I left it on the lift hoping someone will come look at it. The undercarriage is spectacular! I can't seem to delete any pictures so Im unable to ad those.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.

How Chevy used popular Instagram user to promote 2016 Volt

Thu, Feb 26 2015

A picture is worth a thousand words. When it comes to Chevrolet and its Volt extended-range plug-in, the automaker is hoping pictures can be turned into a few more buyers. The company extended a little love to one popular social-media practitioner to see if the trick works. Former biochemical engineer Kevin Lu started his Instagram account a couple of years ago during a road trip, and the quality of his shots has attracted about 181,000 followers. With that popularity in mind, Chevy brought Lu up to Detroit to check out the unveiling of the next-generation Volt at the Detroit Auto Show last month. Lu also got to see the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly factory where the Volt is built, Automotive News reports. As for the next-gen Volt, Chevy says a more efficient powertrain and lighter battery help give the car an all-electric range of up to 50 miles and a total driving distance of more than 400 miles. Chevy also touts the model's streamlined grille and (tight) seating for three in the rear. General Motors hopes a combination of those improvements and exposure from sources such as Lu and his Instagram account (and some sleepy ads, apparently) revitalize sales of the model. Last year, Volt sales fell 19 percent to 18,805 units.
