Greenfield, Indiana, United States
1966 CHEVELLE SURVIVOR, LET ME START BY SAYING THIS IS ONE OF THE NICEST ORIGINAL 66 CHEVELLES YOU WILL EVER SEE. THIS BEAUTY HAS ONLY 32,000 ACTUAL MILES AND HAS BEEN IN DRY STORAGE SINCE 1976 AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GARAGED CAR. IT IS POWERED BY A 283 ENG THAT PURRS LIKE NEW AND HAS THE POWER GLIDE TRANS THAT SHIFTS SMOOTH AS SILK. THE PAINT IS ABOUT 85% ORIGINAL WITH ZERO RUST ON TOP AND BOTTOM. PAINT LOOKS VERY NICE AND SHINES GREAT. THE RIGHT REAR LOWER QUARTER PANEL HAS SOME CRACKING IN THE PAINT BUT HARD TO NOTICE UNLESS YOU GET DOWN AND LOOK FOR IT. THE CHROME AND THE STAINLESS ARE NEAR MINT COND AND ORIGINAL. STILL RETAINS ALL OF THE T3 HEADLIGHTS. THE GLASS IS ALL LIKE NEW WITH ONE SMALL ROCK CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT I AM SURE THE WINDSHIELD DOCTOR CAN FIX IF YOU DESIRE TO. THE WINDOWS ROLL UP AND DOWN WITH ONE FINGER. LOTS OF ORIGINAL PAPER WORK INCLUDING THE POP, SHIPPING INVOICE AND ALL OWNERS BOOKS AND MANUALS. THE INTERIOR IS BEAUTIFUL AND LIKE NEW (100% ORIGINAL INCLUDING THE CARPET.) THIS CAR HAD CLEAR BUBBLE PLASTIC SEAT COVERS ON IT WHEN I PURCHASED IT AND FROM THE LOOKS OF THE SEATS I AM SURE THEY WERE ON THERE SINCE IT WAS NEW. THE SEATS ARE STILL GOOD AND FIRM AND WHEN YOU SIT DOWN IN IT THEY COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER WHEN IT ROLLED OUT OF THE SHOW ROOM. IT STILL RETAINS THE ORIGINAL SPIRAL SHOCKS AND ORIGINAL SPRINGS WITH NO SAGGING LIKE MOST OF THESE CARS DO OVER TIME IT SITS UP NICE, I HAVE THE ORIGINAL WHEELS , TIRES AND HUB CAPS. TIRES ARE OVER 40 YEARS OLD AND DRY ROTTED BUT THE CAPS WOULD PASS FOR NOS. THIS CAR RIDES AND DRIVES LIKE A BRAND NEW CAR. "VERY IMPRESSIVE". HERE ARE THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN REPLACED RECENTLY , NEW WHEELS AND TIRES, GAS TANK, FUEL PUMP, WATER PUMP, BELT AND HOSES, DIST CAP AND ROTOR BUTTON, POINTS PLUGS. BRAKE SYSTEM, FLUSHED RADIATOR, IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL PLUG WIRES DATED 66, NOTICE ONE OF THE FACTORY INSPECTION TAGS STILL ON THE REAR WHEEL HUB. 5 classic trucks and their polarizing modern revivals
Sun, Mar 3 2024EVs are helping eliminate Detroit's gas-guzzling problem. Some revivals of gas-powered classics are getting the EV treatment. But not every revived model looks exactly like its original counterpart. We're in a new era of hulking Detroit metal, and you can thank EVs. Americans can't get enough of their big, beefy trucks and SUVs. But for many years, some of the biggest gas guzzlers fell out of fashion as gas prices rose and emissions regulations tightened. But in the past few years, some of the most iconic American truck nameplates have been brought back to life with electric motors, like the GMC Hummer. In other cases, as with the Ford Bronco, improvements in engine technology and more interest in rugged adventure vehicles made a gas-powered revival possible. Even some revivals that started as gas-powered, like the Chevy Blazer and the Jeep Wagoneer, are now getting electrified spinoffs. (Even if they don't always look quite as sleek as their original inspiration.) Here are side-by-sides of five classic American trucks and their modern counterparts. The Jeep Wagoneer 1975 Jeep Wagoneer and 2024 Electric Jeep Wagoneer SStellantis After a long wait, Jeep released its revival of the classic Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in 2020. Starting later this year, an electric version of the luxury Jeep SUV will join the Wagoneer lineup. The Chevrolet Blazer A 1973 Chevrolet Blazer and a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EVGetty Images, General Motors The Chevrolet Blazer was first rebooted in 2019 as a sporty family SUV. The modern Blazer shares zero resemblance to its boxy, off-roading older sibling, but it has still managed to become one of Chevy's more popular SUVs in recent years. The Blazer EV came later, and was one of the first models GM built on its new Ultium battery platform. The Hummer A Hummer H2 and the 2023 Hummer EV pickup truckGetty Images, General Motors Once the poster child for Detroit's big, bad gas guzzlers, the Hummer got new life as an electric pickup truck in 2021. The Ford Bronco A 1971 Ford Bronco and a 2022 Ford BroncoFord Motor Co. After a rouge group of engineers and designers inside Ford spent years trying to breathe life back into the Blue Oval's boxy off-roader, the Ford Bronco was finally resurrected in 2020 amid a rise in popularity for rugged adventure vehicles. GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]
Fri, 30 Aug 2013When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.
