I looked for 2 years for this truck and finally found it in Pennsylvia in 2004 and had it titled in August 2004 showing 76,185 miles. It now has 84,060. Less than 1,000 miles per year. I have a second truck which you can see parked  behind this one, which gets double what this big block 454 gets. 9 mpg when travelling empty or small load and only 7mpg when pulling trailer with skid loader on it.  I bought the truck and trailer to pull the skid loader but have only taken it out from the farm 4 times to do local work on properties we own, plus at a church camp 14 miles away. 1984 was the last year a pick up with a 454 could be titled without a catalytic converter which is what I was looking for. I was also looking for the fuel pump to be outside the fuel tank. This truck is much easier to work on than the '88 and later ones. I have replaced the starter and have no problems starting it, even in the winter. The last time I took this truck off the farm was in October of 2012. It sits in the shed waiting to be used which is not often. It's black on the outside and I'm not sure what the color of the seat is. I bought this truck from a man who rebuilt the cab and fenders and hood and tailgate from a rollover. He stored it in his basement garage until his wife got a new car 7 years later. When I bought it from him it was sitting along side the road with a for sale sign on it and the choke was stuck. Ran really poorly until it was freed and then I drove it maybe 150 miles home from somewhere near Pittsburg. There are a number of little things that I have never gotten around to correcting, such as the power locks do not work, one of the electric window switches goes on the blink every once in awhile. The air conditioning did not work when I bought it and I didn't plan on using it so it is still there but not working. The turn signals are not self cancelling so you have to turn them off like back in the old days, which speaking of old, I'm 69 years old. Truck has brand new Goodwrich T&A mounted on 8 bolt aluminim rims with 2 of the lugnut bolts brocken off by the inspection station back in 2004. Never replaced them--one of the pics shows them. The new BF Goodrichs are  33x12.5x16.5 and they do deliver the power to the road really well. I can drive this truck 50 miles one way to deliver before the end of August. Pay deposit on paypal and the rest in cash in person. The motor and transmission and rears seem to be fine and when I go out I expect to come back and that's what the truck does. The kid in the window thought he was going to get the truck when he turned 18 but that's not going to happen. Dog in the picture just caught a groundhog and she doesn't know that the truck is being sold. Car has been smoked in, but not since I've owned it. Dog always rode along on her own blanket, her name is Buckle. No spare tire. Yes to a jack. New battery. New top and bottom radiator hoses.

2014 Chevrolet Impala [w/video]

Can A Fleet Queen Become a Fullsize King?
On paper, the Chevrolet Impala is a pretty strong seller, posting annual sales that have hovered right around 170,000 units for the last two years, but it only takes one trip to practically any rental car agency to discover where the majority of those sales have come from. In fact, General Motors told Autoblog that a full 70 percent of Impala sales last year went to fleet companies for things like rental cars and government vehicles. Logic tells us that this is neither good for resale values nor name equity, so Chevrolet is getting ready to roll out an all-new Impala with improved comfort, styling and technology, hoping to turn the tables on its retail-to-fleet ratio.
Chevrolet's sedans have come on quite strong in the last few months with the introduction of the Cruze diesel and the SS sedan, but while these will likely be low-volume sellers, there's more pressure for the new Impala to perform well as GM looks to slash fleet sales and compete with the wide variety of full-size sub-luxury sedans. Riding on a platform shared with the Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac XTS, the 2014 Impala will compete against the Hyundai Azera, Ford Taurus and Toyota Avalon on the more traditional side, while also looking to take a bite out of somewhat sportier models like the Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger twins and the Nissan Maxima. We headed to sunny San Diego to see if this totally new Impala can stand on its own without the assistance of fleet companies and rental agencies. [w/video

GM says over 40% of new China launches in next five years will be EVs

Wed, Aug 19 2020

SHANGHAI — General Motors is planning an electric car offensive in China with more than 40% of its new launches in the country over the next five years set to be electric vehicles (EVs), the U.S. carmaker said on Wednesday. GM's electric vehicles, many of which will be all-electric battery cars, will be manufactured in China with almost all parts coming from local suppliers, the company said in a statement released at its Tech Day event in Shanghai. Reuters reported earlier on Wednesday that GM was planning to overhaul its Chinese line-up to stem a slide of sales after more than two decades of growth in a country that contributes nearly a fifth of its profit. GM's new China boss Julian Blissett told Reuters that new technologies, such as EVs and cars with near hands-free driving for highways, would play a key role in GM's China initiatives, which are part of a push to get annual sales in the country back to the 4 million peak it hit in 2017. GM did not say in its statement how many new or significantly redesigned models it was planning to launch in China over the next five years. "China will play a crucial role in making our vision a reality," GM CEO Mary Barra said in the statement, referring to its initiative to create what it describes as a future of "zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion" through electrification and smart-driving technologies. GM has said it plans to invest more than $20 billion in electric and automated vehicles globally by 2025. It was not clear how much of that investment will be spent in China. GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.
