UP FOR AUCTION IS A 57 CHEVY BEL AIR 2 DR HT. I PURCHASED IT AS A COMPLETE, SUPER SOLID FACTORY BLACK CAR. IT STILL RETAINS ALL FACTORY SHEET METAL WHICH IS RARE FOR A CAR THIS OLD. IT HAS UNDERGONE A FRAME OFF RESTORATION. THE FRAME WAS COMPLETELY STRIPPED AND PAINTED AND REASSEMBLED WITH 2" DROP SPINDLES, DISC BRAKES, AND POLYURETHANE BUSHINGS AND BODY MOUNTS. THE REAR END AND CONTROL ARMS WERE BLASTED AND PAINTED AS WELL. THE REAR IS ALSO LOWERED 2". THE BODY HAS UNDERGONE NUMEROUS HOURS OF WORK AND HAS BEEN PAINTED BACK BLACK WITH PPG FINISHES BASE/CLEAR AND HAS BEEN COLOR SANDED AND BUFFED TO A BEAUTIFUL FINISH. THIS CAR WAS BEING BUILT TO BE A VERY NICE DRIVER, HOWEVER I HAVE TOO MANY PROJECTS AND SOME THINGS HAVE COME UP, SO UNFORTUNATELY, THIS ONE HAS TO GO. THE TAIL LIGHT HOUSINGS HAVE THE USUAL PITTING BUT ARE BETTER THAN MOST. THE GLASS IS ALL PRETTY DECENT EXCEPT FOR ONE OF THE FRONT WINDOW VENTS. I DO NOT HAVE A FRONT WINDSHIELD. Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt

At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.

Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon get updated tachometers due to graphical error

After James Bearing bought a Chevrolet Colorado, he noticed a discrepancy between the truck's spec sheet and the truck's tachometer: Chevrolet said 3.6-liter V6 in the little pickup produces 305 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, but the the tachometer indicates a redline at 6,500 rpm. So either he wasn't making as much power as he was promised, or the tachometer display was incorrect. Bearing said he asked Chevy about it but got no response. Until now. A General Motors spokesman said the rev limiter is indeed set for 6,800 rpm, but the tach graphics "are slightly off" in the Colorado and the GMC Canyon, and submitted an SAE horsepower certification to back him up. If you're wondering how such a thing got past quality control... well, let's just say you're not alone. GM is going to fix "the graphics on future trucks," which makes it sound like Bearing will just have to learn to live with the indicated redline he's got. He could always pretend he's driving a sleeper, with four more ponies waiting to be unlocked in the danger zone for those who dare.
