Up for auction is my 1957 Chevy Belair Sport Coupe. This car was recently taken out of storage after 28 years!

Recently underwent extensive mechanical repairs.
Here are the highlights of what was done:
New cap, rotor, wires fuel filter, rebuilt the 650 Holley carb. Replaced the fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel tank, straps and fuel sender. Replaced valve covers with new Corvette covers.

All the brakes were done, wheel cylinders , brake lines, brake hoses, brake shoes, rebuilt master cylinder. The rear end was rebuilt, replaced bearings ,seals And gaskets gear is 355:1.
The wheels and tires were replaced with newer Cragars and tires, the old wheels , hub caps and fender skirts are available.

The interior on this car is in great condition and is all original except for the carpet was replaced. The dash and trim still has its original paint and it looks great, all of the interior stainless is in excellent condition. Everything works as it should, it has aftermarket gauges installed under the dash and the dash is not cut up in any way. The dash lights, dome light, indicators, heater and 8 track all still work. The clock does not work and the am radio works intermittently. Turn signals, horn, brake lights, headlights, electric wipers all work as well. Glass is all in excellent condition.

This car is a blast to drive and is very dependable. It goes down the road straight and has plenty of power from the 327 V-8 four barrel and Turbo 350 trans. the engine runs smooth and looked rebuilt when the valve covers were replaced. It is spotless inside and does not smoke. I put on over 600 miles since it came out of storage.

You can drive and enjoy this car while restoring it.
The frame is solid. The floors, rocker panels and quarter panels were worked on by an amateur body man and will need to be redone. There are some body supports that also need attention. Although there are rust issues with the floors and body supports, the car is still safe to operate as it has a full frame and it is in good shape. The trunk floor is in good condition, as I saw it when the fuel tank was replaced. The side panels in the trunk were patched as well. It looks like there was minimal rust on the sides and the previous owner used fiberglass to patch the rust and under coated over it.

Hood, doors , trunk, roof, firewall is all in very nice condition.
All of the exterior stainless is in good shape and the front bumper is a one piece California bumper. All of the trim on this car can be reused and or restored. There is very little on this car that needs replacement.

I am careful to explain all of the good and bad about my listings, I would rather loose a sale than have someone disappointed in their purchase. My feed back is now and has always been 100 percent. I will answer any and all questions honestly and to the best of my ability. I highly encourage you to come and see the vehicle or have it inspected prior to bidding.

The car is being sold As-Is Where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and a $500.00 non refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of auction end.

Car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the car sells.

Car is sold with a Connecticut bill of sale as Connecticut does not issue titles for vehicles over 25 years old.

LOW RESERVE! GOOD LUCK BIDDING.

2016 Chevrolet Volt First Drive

Fri, Oct 2 2015

There's a hit vehicle hiding in GM's formula for the Chevy Volt. You can sense it in the enthusiasm that current Volt drivers have for their cars. You can see it in the amount of money GM has poured into its extended-range electric vehicle project. And perhaps most importantly, you can feel it from the driver's seat of the new, second-gen model. The big question is whether or not GM will be able to turn its much-hyped 'halo car' into a best-seller this time around. After driving it in northern California, I can tell you that the Volt is tremendous. But we all know it takes more than that to create a hit. GM has so far sold over 82,000 Volts in the US. That's respectable, but in the early, glory days before the car launched, company representatives were talking about much more impressive numbers. With a few years to talk to customers and potential prospects, GM has learned a lot about what makes someone buy a Volt. For the 2016 model, Chevy has changed just about everything for the better. The new Volt has more all-electric range (53 miles vs. 38 in the first generation), is more fuel efficient whether you're looking at the overall value (106 combined MPGe vs. 98) or just when the car burns gas (42 miles per gallon vs. 37). All of that means that the car's overall range is bumped up to 420 miles, from 380. The battery is smaller and lighter while offering more energy capacity. The range-extending gas engine is bigger (1.5 liters vs. 1.4) but it's also more efficient and can burn regular gasoline instead of just premium. The Volt's overall range is bumped up to 420 miles, from 380. The cost is lower, too: $33,995 vs. $34,170, before incentives. This is a car that GM thinks will compete against the Toyota Priuses and Nissan Leafs of the world (as its new ads make abundantly clear). All three cars have completely different powertrains, but we all know that they're the headline green cars of our time (along with Tesla), so buyers will have to want to pony up a bit more money if they like what the Volt is offering. The 2016 Leaf with its 107-mile range starts at $37,640 (before incentives), while a 2015 Prius can be had for $25,035 (pricing for the 2016 has not yet been announced). So, on paper, the new Volt is an all-around winner. I'm here to tell you that it wins on the road, too. You can't help but notice the changes. They are literally front and center.

GM resumes production of its 3.0-liter turbodiesel straight-six

Sat, Nov 20 2021

General Motors temporarily stopped taking orders for trucks and SUVs equipped with the 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel six-cylinder engine in August 2021 due to a supplier shortage. Reports claimed the pause would last through 2021, but the engine is already back in production. Enthusiast website GM Authority learned from sources inside General Motors that the straight-six is once again coming off the assembly line at the Flint Engine Plant in Flint, Michigan. There's no official word on precisely what the problem was linked to and whether it was related to the on-going chip shortage that's wreaking havoc across the automotive industry. All we know is that the pause lasted for about two weeks. Called LM2 internally, the six is available in Chevrolet's Tahoe, Suburban, and Silverado 1500 and in GMC's version of these trucks. It's also an option in the Cadillac Escalade. It develops 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and a V8-like 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm in every application, and it allows these big behemoths to post surprising fuel economy numbers. Fitted to a rear-wheel-drive Tahoe, the Duramax returns 21 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 24 mpg in a combined cycle, figures that make it more efficient than a Blazer. Demand for the diesel-powered trucks is relatively high. While the shortage undoubtedly took a toll on sales, the Duramax represented 8% of Suburban sales and 6% of Tahoe sales in May 2021. There are no other diesel-burning full-size SUVs available new so they have the market to themselves. On the truck side, Ram still makes the EcoDiesel available on some 1500 trims but Ford abandoned the segment. Junkyard Gem: 1987 Chevrolet Turbo Sprint

Sun, Feb 6 2022

Fifteen years ago, I wrote my first-ever automotive article under the name Murilee Martin, and it didn't take me long to start writing about one of my favorite automotive subjects: the junkyard. Before I'd refined my system for documenting discarded vehicles, however, I shot a lot of boneyard photos that never got used. For today's Junkyard Gem, I have four shots from early 2007 of one of the rarest turbocharged machines of the 1980s: the Chevrolet Turbo Sprint. The Chevrolet Sprint was really a rebadged Suzuki Cultus, from the pre-Geo era when General Motors sold the Isuzu Gemini as the Chevrolet Spectrum, the Daewoo LeMans as the Pontiac LeMans and the Toyota Corolla as the Chevrolet Nova (soon enough, the Spectrum became a Geo, and the Nova became the Prizm). The second-generation Cultus appeared in 1988, becoming the Geo Metro on our shores the following year. The Turbo Sprint was available for just the last two years of the Sprint's 1985-1988 American sales run, and it appears that just a couple of thousand were sold; if I'd known at the time just how rare they were, I'd have shot more photos of this one at the now-defunct Hayward Pick Your Part. The turbocharged 993cc three-cylinder produced 70 horsepower, 22 better than the naturally-aspirated version. Since the Turbo Sprint weighed just 1,620 pounds (that's about 500 pounds lighter than a barely more powerful '22 Mitsusbishi Mirage), it was plenty of fun to drive. For 1988, the regular Sprint hatchback cost $6,380 while the Turbo Sprint listed at $8,240 (that's about $15,375 and $19,855 today, respectively). Believe it or not, a Turbo Sprint actually raced in the 24 Hours of Lemons 10 years ago, though it didn't end well. This ad is for the regular Cultus, not the Cultus Turbo, but the screaming guitars sound reasonably turbocharged. For the most part, Chevy Sprint marketing was all about cheap purchase price and stingy fuel economy… at a time when gasoline prices were cratering. Related Video:
