Up for auction is my 1952 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery panel van which I initially put a lot of work into. It started life as a 6 cyl. which threw a rod and ended up in a closed down wrecking yard in town. I salvaged it and added a 283 small block with double hump heads, cam, clear distrib. cap, etc. It did have a 4 barrel double pumper and intake but it started acting up and I switched it over to a 2 barrel carb and intake I already had. I tried to keep it running and started off and on through the years till a couple of years ago. I have also kept it in primer the best I could to keep it from becoming too overly rusted. It has a Saginaw 4 Speed , shortened driveshaft and 1972 Chevelle 10 bolt rear-end, Gratiot Auto Supply front motor mount kit, Electric frame mounted fuel pump, Chevrolet Truck tandem master cylinder for the clutch and brake system, a Ron Francis wiring harness was installed with a smaller custom foam grip steering wheel. One guage panel was missing when I acquired it. The rear bumper is off the car but included ( they are both rusty). I installed real hardwood flooring in the rear, sanded and stained. Started putting panel board around the inside and top of the van to have something to attach carpet to. This panel van originally had a window cut into the passenger rear side ( to see out better??) when I bought it, so I tack welded in a piece of flat metal from a 1957 Chevy hood and fiber-glassed over it. It looked good till a couple years ago when the weather started working on it. The fenders and body are mainly in very good shape, the hood has a strip tacked to it down the nose that warped the hood in a couple spots. The grille is rusted over now-see pictures. I have all the side chrome pieces I took off this car when I started working on it back in 1976. The glass would need to be replaced as some windows have chips cracks, etc. The rear door glass is good though. I have the original keys to the doors and the ignition. The passenger door is stuck now for some reason as I couldn't get it to open last time I tried. The fenders and body are solid but the metal would have to be sanded really smooth to make it look nice again. The front floor boards are rusted out and would have to be replaced. As you can see in the pictures I have been using it for storage for parts of my other car projects. (sorry it takes away from the picture of the actual car) The front bushings and king pins were replaced the first year or two I had it as was the gas tank taken out, cleaned and internally coated for rust prevention. The motor has sat a few years without being cranked but last Summer I could turn the crank manually, but the oil on the dipstick is getting milky looking from condensation getting in it. (I've had the motor covered up with plastic in case the hood let water through at the center seam). This is one reason I need to sell it before it ruins as I am losing my storage space and would rather see someone else get some use out of it as I've only got to drive it one time since I did all the work on it. I got sidetracked on it due to getting married, kids and a divorce as well as having too many other projects going at the same time. It would make a nice cruiser, custom, Rat Rod , El Camino?? or Gasser with a Straight Axle under the front end and I'd like to know someone actually would get to finish this car and enjoy it as it should be! I have a clear title to this car and the Winning bidder is to pay a deposit through Paypal and to pay the remaining amount with CASH ONLY when picking up the vehicle. This auction is for serious bidders only and must realize they are Responsible for picking up and hauling off the vehicle within a reasonable amount of time as I am losing my storage space for it. Also --The rear brakes may be locked up or rusted to the drums as we had trouble in the past trying to park it in the spot it is in now- had to drag it. The aluminum mag wheels are in okay shape but most of the tires are flat and may not air up. It uses 5 lug chevy 14" or 15" rims. Since I've described this car to the best of my knowledge and knowing the amount of work in getting it restored, I am selling it AS-IS.

Was the C7 Corvette cut from Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show?
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Someone was bound to receive a free 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray during the Super Bowl XLVII festivities; it just wasn't who we thought it was going to be. Despite a report back in December that superstar Beyoncé Knowles would be getting an all-new Corvette during her halftime performance, that turned out not to be the case. Joe Flacco, starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, did in fact win a Corvette for his MVP performance.
So what transpired that prevented Beyoncé from rolling on stage in the new Chevrolet? Anyone who knows isn't telling, but according to Yahoo! Autos, General Motors said that for one reason or another a deal "did not work out," and it appears to have been an eleventh-hour change. Regardless of who's to blame or what prevented this from happening, we're sure Chevy has had no problems getting attention for the C7 Corvette since it was introduced last month.
Is your new-car warranty good at the race track?
Mon, Feb 27 2017We've all heard the horror stories. Your buddy knows a girl that was dating a guy whose best friend's brother once broke his brand-new, recently purchased performance car while making runs at a drag strip or laps at a track day, and the manufacturer wouldn't cover the repair under warranty. True story? Urban legend? Complete crap? Yes, no, maybe. One thing's for sure: Automotive warranties have always come with caveats. In 1908, an ad in the Trenton Evening Times clearly stated: "All Ford Cars Guaranteed for One Year." Although it changed over time, by 1925 the Ford New Car Guarantee only covered 90 days on material and 30 days on labor, and it clearly stated that that there was "No guarantee whatever on Fan Belts, Glass, Bulbs, Wiring, Transmission, Bands, Hose Connections, Commutator Shells, Rollers, Spark Plugs or Gaskets." Whether or not Ol' Henry would pay to fix your Model T if you broke it shaving a tenth off your lap time at the local board track seems to be lost to history. We're guessing no. But what about today? Do new-car warranties in 2017 cover cars when they are driven on race tracks? We researched the warranties of 14 auto brands to find out, and the answer is yes, no, maybe, depending on the brand, in some cases the model, and whether or not your car is modified from stock. Acura has been out of the high-performance car game for a number of years, but jumps back into the party in 2017 with its hybrid-powered $173,000 NSX supercar. And Acura's warranty, as well as Honda's, clearly states that it does not cover "the use of the vehicle in competition or racing events." View 33 Photos So we asked Sage Marie, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Honda and Acura. "If the car is stock, the warranty covers it on a track just as it does on the street. No question," he told us. "However, if the car is modified, say with slick tires or other components that would put higher stresses on the vehicle's parts and systems, then we would have to investigate the circumstances further." Marie went on to say the same would be true for any Acura model or Honda vehicle, including the new 2017 Honda Civic Si. This became a common theme. Chevrolet actually started this practice with the fifth-generation Camaro on the high-performance ZL1 and Z/28 models.
President Obama will be on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
Tue, Dec 22 2015The seventh season of Jerry Seinfeld's excellent Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee will debut on Wednesday, December 30, and if this first trailer is any indication, the guest lineup is damn impressive. But rather than building up to one big guest over the course of the season, the show is starting with one of the biggest guests possible – the president of the United States. President Barack Obama will join Seinfeld behind the wheel of what looks like a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray for a trip around the South Lawn of the White House. According to CBS, the pair will enjoy their coffee in the staff dining room, which is probably a better idea than crippling Washington, D.C., with a Stingray-led motorcade. Aside from the president, Seinfeld has recruited a couple comedy icons, including first-timers Will Ferrell and Steve Martin. Also appearing are Garry Shandling, Sebastian Maniscalco, and Kathleen Madigan. The four-wheeled stars will include the Corvette, a Plymouth Superbird, a Chevy Camaro, a classic Porsche 911, a BMW 2002, and what we think is a (rather troublesome) 1952 Siata 208 8V Coupe Balbo.
