Have you ever seen an item or vehicle for sale online, gone to look at it in person, and then discovered that the seller wasn’t completely honest or “forgot” to mention significant flaws?  I have, and it wasted my time and a plane ticket, so I will not do that to you.  If I’m aware of a flaw, I will tell you about it NOW rather than try to mislead you with this truck.  I am selling this truck for an estate, and it’s not costing me a dime to sit here, so I have nothing to gain by tricking you, and my integrity to lose by doing the same.   With that being said, please ask me for any clarification and I will do my best to get that information to you.

This Avalanche is a 2007, first year of the new body style, with the 5.3 engine.  I’m not 100% sure of the trim level, but I believe it is the LTZ or LT, as it has all the options and cost about $40k new.  This Avalanche has been a one owner vehicle, but had to be transferred twice within the estate and may show those additional "owners".  Carfax is clean, I have one from May, but you’re welcome to run a fresh one on your own.  The Carfax I have lists one backup collision (considering it has a camera and sensors, I don't know how THAT happened) with no damage.

2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LT/LTZ  VIN# 3GNEC12J97G238192

123,918 miles

Black original paint on black leather interior with burlwood trim.

Front tires are nearly new, rear tires are above the wear bars.

Original wheels were painted (or powdercoated, I’m not sure) black and have spacers to make them appear wider.  These spacers are the high quality type with their own studs and do not compromise safety.

Original Bose sound system (with rear seat controls) upgraded with MTX amp for subwoofers (subwoofers themselves are missing) and Pioneer head unit with navigation and satellite.

Transmission was professionally rebuilt less than 100 miles ago and shifts as new.

Engine replaced under warranty by dealer, I believe around the 30k mile mark, but I’m not 100% certain.  I will look through the records and try to get that information for you.

Ice cold A/C and hot heater

No rust (south Florida car since new)

Upgraded Flowmaster mufflers (nice rumble, especially under acceleration)

Driver’s door switch bank replaced with new OEM.

Aftermarket alarm (not sure if it works though).

Windshield just replaced by Safelite.

Back door and window limo tint (front doors non-tinted).

The bad:

Tailgate handle broken (still works, but needs replacing)

Front bumper has small hole (about the size of a dime) and a light impact at the driver’s side below the grill.

Billet grill is bent

HID foglights, but passenger side headlight bucket is melted and needs replacing.

Misc. dings, scratches, chips overall with a nasty gouge/dent on the passenger fender.

Dash is cracked behind passenger airbag (please research this.  It’s a known defect from Chevrolet and they usually replace it for a nominal fee)

Headlight switch works but the mount is cracked on the left side, so you can push it.  It doesn’t need to be replaced, per se, but is annoying if you’re anal about stuff like that like me.

Bezel around gauges has weird stains on it.

Some cigarette burns on headliner and seats (pictured).

Backup camera is only zip tied into place and does not work.  May be disconnected.

Driver front air pressure sensor non-functioning.

Check engine light on, possibly O2 sensor issue.

Stereo possibly has a loose ground.  Sometimes it works great, other times it has a whine or won’t power up.

Front driver’s suspension has an occasional clunk.

Ok, please read this:    I am selling this truck for an estate as a family friend and am not a dealer.  I’m making zilch on this, and it’s not costing me anything to sit there, so I don’t need to sell this “here’s a low ball offer for CASH TODAY!!”  Please, don’t waste my time.  Truck is available for inspection in Delray Beach, Florida, and I welcome you to bring a mechanic.  You are welcome to go look at the truck anytime you like, but my work schedule is heavy and I will have to schedule an appointment if you’d like to take it for a drive.   There are new ceramic coated headers and an aftermarket sway bar available to purchase if you want, but I will NOT include them with the sale of the truck.   The truck was well maintained since new, but neglected when the owner fell on hard times, and it’s been parked with only occasional use for the past two years.  It starts right up, runs great, and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere (if you can deal with the danged radio).  This truck is PERFECT for someone looking to get a clean Avalanche well below market value and fix it up as they drive it.  Looks mean, sounds meaner and is comfortable.   I expect a $500 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours upon the close of the auction, with the truck picked up within 7 days of auction end, or storage fees will be added.  Full payment due at pickup.  I can certainly assist with a shipper or local storage if need be.   Please ask any questions prior to the auction end as I'm not going to negotiate the price after the auction.  I can take any pictures or video that you’d like, as I want you to be happy when you come to see it and not disappointed.   I have some YouTube videos already uploaded that give you more information and details, please email me for links.

It's a great truck, just needs a new owner and some TLC.   Thanks for looking and good luck with your bidding!

Travis Kvapil tells Twitter his Sprint Cup car was stolen

Fri, Feb 27 2015

There's a bizarre story coming out of Atlanta today, as NASCAR racer Travis Kvapil is reporting that his Sprint Cup Car was stolen from a lot at the Drury Inn in Morrow, GA. Kvapil announced the theft, which included the black pickup that was hauling the trailer and the #44 Chevrolet SS Sprint Cup Car – shown above, with driver JJ Yeley at the wheel – on Twitter. According to Kvapil, the car wasn't going to be ready for the Thursday test session at Atlanta Motor Speedway, although forecasts of snow forced the team to dispatch their main trailer and tools to the track ahead of the car, which left for Atlanta later yesterday. According to ESPN, police in Morrow have video of the "incident," which happened at 5:34 AM Friday, with police investigating it as as criminal in nature. "Sometimes what happens when thieves see trailers, they might just assume there's something in the trailer they can go off and sell," Sgt. Larry Oglesby, of the Morrow PD, told USA Today. "Sometimes when things like this occur, they will drop off the items in a parking lot somewhere – like a Walmart parking lot – once they realize what they have." "All we know is it was a silver jeep," team owner John Cohen told USA Today. "One guy got out and they pulled off together." Earlier, Cohen told ESPN that the theft will force the team out of this weekend's race at the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Kvapil, meanwhile, has taken to Twitter to appeal to his followers to be on the lookout for the truck, trailer and race car. Here's hoping it turns up all together. Check out the driver's tweets, below. Wow. Anyone near Atlanta find my stolen Cup car let me know! Unreal - Travis Kvapil (@TravisKvapil) February 27, 2015 I bet when whoever has it, opens the trailer and is going to be like 'oh snap' - Travis Kvapil (@TravisKvapil) February 27, 2015 Ok, to clarify. @Teamxtreme44 transporter is @amsupdates. GM is training more first responders for EV emergencies in the U.S. and Canada

Mon, Jul 4 2022

GM is training more first responders to be able to handle emergencies involving electric vehicles. The automaker is "significantly expanding" its EV First Responder Training program in the United States and Canada as electric vehicle sales continue to grow. Its initiative will primarily focus on training firefighters and equipping them with the necessary knowledge about full electric vehicle technologies. GM says it's hoping to dispel misconceptions when it comes to handling EVs in emergency situations. One of those misconceptions is that water is dangerous around EV batteries — turns out the recommended way to put out lithium-ion battery fires is by using copious amounts of water.  Andrew Klock, a senior manager of education and development at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), said: "The best way for the public and private vehicle fleet owners to rapidly adopt EVs is to train firefighters and emergency responders on how to handle incidents involving battery powered vehicles. The fire service has had more than 100 years to gain the knowledge needed to respond to internal combustion engine fires, and it is critical that they are now educated on EV safety." The NFPA held trainings of its own that had benefited 300,000 first responders, but it believes more than 800,000 members of the community still need further training.   GM previously piloted the program in southeast Michigan, but now it's conducting training events across Michigan and in Fort Worth, Texas, as well. Later this summer, it's bringing the program to metro New York City and Southern California. Participants will have to attend four-hour sessions, with up to two per day, held in various venues, such as fire houses and dealerships. Interested first and second responders can register through the program's dedicated website and earn a certificate from the Illinois Fire Service Institute if they score higher than 70 percent on the learning assessment by the end of their training.  The automaker already has a few EV models on the market, including the Chevy Bolts, the GMC Hummer EV and the Cadillac Lyriq. It has huge electrification plans for the future, though, and training responders could help make potential customers more receptive to the idea of switching to electric vehicles. GM aims to launch 30 EV models by 2025 and to exclusively sell EVs ten years after that. Related video: Green Cadillac Chevrolet GM GMC Safety Electric

With only 246 Volts sold in Australia, Holden not getting next-gen model

Tue, Apr 28 2015

The Chevrolet Volt has not been the resounding success General Motors hoped for here in the United States. But it's fortunes in Chevy's home country are nothing compared to how poorly it's done down under. Only 246 Volts have been sold in Australia, where the car is branded as a Holden, since its debut in 2012. That's not just a bad showing – it's an absolute disaster. According to Motoring.com.au, it was the Volt's astonishing $60,000 price tag, combined with a lack of interest from Aussie drivers, that killed the car's chances. What's fascinating about this development, though, is that it doesn't necessarily seem to be Holden that's pulling the plug. Instead, it's the Volt's Hamtramck, MI factory, which is preparing to shift into production of the second-generation model that seems to be taking the blame. According to Motoring, the plant confirmed that it will only build the Gen 2 plug-in in left-hand-drive form, basically ruling out a model for Australia. "Electric and hybrid vehicles haven't taken off in Australia," Holden's director of communications, Sean Poppitt, told Motoring. "Considering the lack of infrastructure, the lack of government incentives, the large distances between cities, it's a tough sell." The death of the right-hand drive Volt won't be the only loss of business in Hamtramck. Opel has already confirmed that it will drop the plug-in's European fraternal twin, the Ampera, while the next-gen Chevy won't make the trip across the pond either. Related Video:
