Short Bed, Step Side, Glade Green, 3 Speed Manual, 6 Cyl., 55k Actual Miles on 2040-cars
Bluefield, West Virginia, United States
1959 Chevrolet 3100 Apache pickup truck. The truck was repainted in it's original Glade Green 6 years ago. The truck runs, drives, and preforms perfectly with no known mechanical or electrical issues. The truck looks in person exactly as it appears in the photos. The truck has 55,222 true miles on it as documented. This truck can be driven any distance with confidence. I personally would not be afraid to drive the truck cross country. Hi and low beam head lights, brake lights, turn signals and tag light work perfectly. The interior dome light and dash lights work great so does all door and window handles. Truck starts up first time even after sitting for a couple of weeks. Choke works perfectly. Trucks 3 speed manual transmission shifts very smooth and effortlessly and the clutch engages as new. The brakes stop fast, straight and without noise of any kind. The truck tracts straight on the road with no pulling or vibrations. There are no squeaks or rattles. The 6 Cylinder Thrift Master 135 Horsepower engine is very smooth and responds quickly and effortlessly. The interior was refreshed also with the seat redone in original style upholstery and the bottom and back cushion were re-stuffed and set better than new. The headliner and rubber floor mat was removed and sound deadener and heat insulation was placed underneath the new mat. The bed floor was replaced with new wood planks. The sides on the bed were covered with a spray in bed liner for protection (see photo). The mileage is actual as stated on previous Tennessee title and in letter written by previous owner who has known the truck since new. Truck had never been out of Tennessee or over 50 miles from it's original home before I purchased it. The truck has new chrome wheels and wheel covers and the tires have 80% tread life remaining. The mileage on the truck (55,222) is actual and is documented by the last owner whose title shows "actual mileage" and a letter from him with a detailed history of the truck from new. I have a copy of his title stating "actual mileage" on the front and the original letter, signed by him, with the full history of the truck that will stay with the truck when sold. The following parts were recently replaced during my ownership:
Almost $300.00 in parts from Classic Truck Parts and $400.00 in labor to a well known local mechanic who specializes in these vehicles was spent installing the above replacement parts within the past 4 months. The Chassis was Lubed, Oil and Filter Changed, All Fluid Levels were checked and the Tire pressures were checked at the same time the above parts were installed. Approx. 200 miles and 4 months ago. I have receipts for parts and labor. I have a NEW (1 month old) Custom Fitted truck cover from California Car Covers that was purchased at a cost in excess of $300.00 that will also go with the truck. See Photo of Car Cover. The truck has a scratch on drivers door (see pic), small dent on Left front fender above tire (see pic), paint is 6 years old and shines like new but body was not prepped as well as should have been and there is dust and small bits of trash under the paint on the flat surfaces (mostly on hood). Some of this may buff out but I have not tried since I am very happy with the appearance. In my opinion paint is a 6 out of 10 and looks perfect at 20 feet but rough surface under paint areas show at closer distances, mostly on hood. I took photos of the hood but the rough area did not show. Good driver quality paint. Very minor windshield delamination at edge. All trim was removed during repaint and new rubber seals were installed around all windows. The truck is located at our home in Bluefield, WV 24701. It is kept covered in our garage. Reason for selling: I'm retired and recently diagnosed with a disease that makes mobility difficult and I have stopped all driving. I don't want this truck to just sit in the garage. I know I am offering the truck at a price much lower than it should sale for but the above stated reason is why. I do require an immediate $500.00 deposit through PayPal with the balance due within 7 days. The balance of the purchase price after the deposit is made must be paid by Cash or Bank Wire Transfer for the seller to be given the title at that time. If a Bank Certified Check is used I will have to hold the title until the bank notifies me that the check has cleared. The truck is being sold "as is" with no warranties or guarantees of any kind. Please feel free to call me anytime at (304) 323-3608 or email me through eBay with any questions. |

GM cutting production at two plants
Thu, Feb 26 2015General Motors is continuing to adjust to excess supply of some of its brands' models. To get production more in line with the vehicles' actual demand, the automotive giant is idling two of its factories in North America in the coming months. The Orion Assembly plant is going to be down from March 9-13, according to an anonymous plant worker and another insider speaking to Automotive News. The factory builds the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, but there are plenty of both models sitting on dealer lots, including 216 days worth of Sonics, according to AN. The factory already had two idle periods announced to reduce the excess. In addition, downtime is scheduled at GM's "Flex" line at the Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, plant from April 13-17. This affects supply of the Chevrolet Camaro, Impala, Buick Regal and Cadillac XTS. Among them, the automotive giant has the largest supply of Regals ready for dealers with 213 days worth of them, according to AN. The future for the whole Oshawa factory is cloudy in general, though. There are rumors that it could close entirely in the future because the Camaro is leaving and the Regal and XTS might not last much longer than 2017. The Canadian government and the labor union there intend to put up a fight, though. Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts
Wed, 27 Feb 2013There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
Jay Leno gets pulled over while roaring in a Corvette Z06 convertible
Tue, Jan 6 2015No one is above the law, even if that person is a certain silver-haired auto enthusiast with a popular weekly video series about the cars in his garage. This week, Jay Leno experiences the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z06, but he also gets to have a meeting with some of California's Finest immediately after a high-speed blast. As opposed to the full-bore Z06 coupe with the seven-speed manual, Leno gets behind the wheel of the slightly heavier convertible version with the eight-speed auto. Being a droptop doesn't bother him too much, but Leno makes it obvious he wishes that he could be shifting for himself. Even if the auto is technically quicker, Leno says that swapping gears gives him something to do while driving. Of course, one of the major advantages of the convertible is the ability to listen to the Z06's thumping V8 unimpeded. With 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque from 6.2-liters of supercharged muscle, it already puts down impressive numbers, but the sound might just be the best part of all. Around town, the 'Vette is quiet enough to easily blend in with the rest of traffic. However, tip the throttle down and the valves in the exhaust open up to turn the engine into roaring monster. Be careful where you make this thing howl, though, because it's pretty easy for the police to take notice. The host finds that out the hard way in this week's episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
