1956 Step Side Chevrolet 3200 Pick up-with a few added safety up grades

Mr. Moore purchased this truck new from Fred Fletcher Chevrolet in Dublin, Texas on February 27th, 1956.  It stayed in his barn during his ownership and was his work truck.  He took excellent care of it.  Upon his passing, 45 years later, almost to the day of his purchase, in February 2001, I purchased the truck from his estate.

They are only this original once.  This truck defines the word "patina" and any museum would love it!  So few excellent originals exist anymore, let alone in turquoise, with original paint, 235 engine, 3 speed column transmission, interior, with original leather tailgate covered chains and…well, the list is endless.

I drove it a bit and wanted to drive it more, so I had directional signals, seat belts and even an A/C unit (installed, but never hooked up) installed.  I also replaced the oak in the bed; otherwise, this is a truck your grandfather would have been proud of!

I did not detail the interior or under the hood for the photos, but it is all very nice.  The door panels are metal and there is surface rust in the cabin on the original tailgate and on the side steps.  I believe the miles are original.  The truck has never been in an accident and the normal places of rust on these old gems, like the cab corners, just isn't there.  Pull this truck into Home Depot and you will immediately be surrounded.  Vintage trucks are increasing in value.  This is one of the most original 1956 Chevrolet 3200 step side trucks you will find. Anyone can restore them, but the value in this truck is it's ownership lineage and its condition.

As the story goes, Mr. Moore had a lifelong dream to drive this truck from his home in Texas to Alaska, a dream he accomplished and he memorialized the trip with an “ALASKA” sticker in the real window.  I just couldn’t remove it.  The truck starts, runs and drives well.  It has two dents (photos), that I think can easily be fixed without disruption to the paint. i can't imagine the blow that might have caused those dents!  I have envelopes filled with Mr. Moore’s license receipts dating back decades. When I registered it in my name, I kept a copy of the original title, which you will own if you are the successful bidder.  This is a perfect addition to any vintage truck collection.

Please ask any and all questions before bidding.  If you are new to eBay and have no feedback, please email me before bidding.  I reserve the right to cancel any bids, or to sell this item before the listing ends.  This truck is being sold absolutely in as is condition.
I will assist in loading the car for transportation.  A $2,000 PayPal deposit is expected within 48 hours of the close of this auction.  Upon receipt and deposit of remainder, I will then mail the clear title to you.  Documentation and keys will be given to your transport company.

I'm thinning the herd, so PLEASE SEE MY OTHER VINTAGE CARS LISTED NOW ON eBAY.

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

GM recalls select Chevy Cruze, Sonic and Buick Verano models over airbag issue

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

General Motors is recalling certain 2012 Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic models due to a defect in the driver's airbag system. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbag has a shorting bar which may contact two internal terminals. If that happens during a crash, the supplemental restraint may not deploy, increasing the risk of driver injury. The recall includes a total of 2,949 units.
GM will contact owners and replace the steering wheel airbag coil at no cost. At this point, it's unclear when the recall will begin, though owners may contact the automaker at 1-800-521-7300 for more information. You may also take a closer look at the full NHTSA notice below.

Is this '47 Chevrolet a rat rod or a sports car?

Sun, May 22 2016

These days there are plenty of vehicles that blur the conventional automotive class structures. For instance, was the Honda Crosstour a wagon or an SUV? And what exactly was the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet? Regardless, those line-blurring cars (or trucks) are out there, and though this one didn't roll off a production line, it's still quite the automotive head-scratcher. Hailing from Missouri, this epic creation is one part mad science experiment, one part 1947 Chevrolet pickup, and one part '95 Mercury Cougar. Add it all up and you get an awesome truck-sports-car hybrid, complete with an outrageous wing and a V8 to boot. And interestingly enough, it's up for sale . RELATED: Check out this Wild-Styled Lamborghini Rat Rod So how does it all come together? According to the listing, the Chevrolet truck cab (which had previously been chopped) was sanded down to bare metal and given a thorough shellacking of clear coat. It was then melded together with the front end of a 1995 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, and set low to the ground on Bilstein suspension drop spindles. Stance achieved. But instead of fielding an engine from either of those pickups, it pulls its heart from a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV—a big 5.3-liter V8 heart, that is. It comes backed-up to a GM Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Towards the rear however is where things get really interesting. A Copper Pearl coated tube frame chassis both attaches the rear independent suspension (a la Mercury Cougar) to the racy spoiler, as well as secures the rat rod's rear-mounted radiator, fan, and fuel tank. I'm not quite sure why, but it just looks glorious. RELATED: Reports Say Mid-Engine Corvette Will Arrive in 2018 Inside the vintage cab, the Chevrolet furthers its racing proclivities (it's said to have won burnout and auto-cross events) with a pair of harnessed racing seats, a drift brake, a detachable steering wheel, and a tachometer with oil and temperature gauges, but oddly no speedometer. The shifter is a crescent wrench. And its shift boot? That's a Crown Royal Purple bag. All in all, this grin-worthy Frankenstein creation tallies up bits and pieces from four different vehicles (five if you include the Camaro wheels), which make it truly a mash-up of epic proportions.
