Beautiful, Newly Restored Chevy 3100 Stepside Pickup

Offered for sale is a nicely restored, 1952 Chevy 3100 pickup truck. This truck was finished in March 2013 and is ready for some Spring cruising. The 216 CID Thriftmaster engine was rebuilt, to include the carbeaureator and valves with beefed-up push rods. We tried to stay as original as we could, including the 6 volt electrical system. It starts right up with no smoke and the transmission shifts smoothly. The only thing I chose to upgrade is the radial tires, which gives this great old truck a much smoother ride and better handling capability. Also included is a new oak bed with polished stainless steel hardware. It's got new paint, trim and moldings and a brand new floor covering. Did I mention there's NO RUST and a clean undercarriage?

I own several of these advance design trucks from the 50s and my intent is to restore them to original condition and to enjoy driving them around on the weekends. I am currently offering three of these trucks for sale because I'm simply running out of storage space and want others to enjoy them as much as I do. I love the restoration process and hope you appreciate my attention to original detail. Just look at the photos and you will see what I'm talking about. This is not a show truck, but it sure looks like one...it was restored to be driven by an old truck lover like you. I hope you like it as much as I do.

By the way...when driving this beauty around Birmingham, I got so many "Roll Tide" comments that I decided to put some BAMA decals on it. Of course, they are easily removable if you're not a Crimson Tide fan.

This vehicle is available for inspection at an indoor storage unit in Birmingham, Alabama.  Please call Scott @ 615-594-8657 to set up an appointment or with any questions that you may have.

 TERMS:

Payment will be made in full via wire transfer or certified funds with 72 hours of the end of the auction. A $500 non-refundable deposit is also required via PayPal. Worldwide delivery is also available. Please call for quotes.

Good luck!

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

Bob Lutz builds the case for a mid-engined Corvette

Fri, Jan 16 2015

Rumors of a mid-engine Corvette are like automotive industry folklore at this point. Every once in a while, news pops up that it might be happening or is under development, but nothing actually ever comes to fruition as something people can actually buy. The latest spy shots strongly suggest a mid-engine 'Vette is in the cards, yet again, possibly for 2018. Now, an op ed by former General Motors executive (and definite performance car fan) Bob Lutz in Road & Track gives the inside scoop on the history of one of these proposals and lays out how to make it happen today. According to Lutz, the company's engineers believed the C6 ZR1 was at the limit for front-engine, rear-wheel drive performance in that package, and the only solution was to move the powerplant behind the driver. Lutz even got then CEO Rick Wagoner on board. The scheme made it at least as far as clay models for mid-engine versions of the 'Vette and Cadillac XLR. Eventually, a lack of money got in the way, though, bringing the project to an end. Lutz puts a lot of faith in GM's current leaders, especially Mary Barra and Mark Reuss. He thinks the chances of a mid-engine 'Vette happening this time are better than 50 percent. The model, rumored to be named Zora, could offer over 700 horsepower in an ultra lightweight body and be priced at about $120,000 to "suck the doors off everybody." Head over to Road & Track to get some insights from this highly respected and entertaining auto industry veteran. Related Video:

Chevy's Android Auto update will reach cars in March

Fri, Sep 25 2015

Buying a new Chevy with the hopes of using Android Auto during your daily commute? You'll have to sit tight for a while before that dream becomes reality. The carmaker announced that an Android Auto software update will only reach its 2016 model-year vehicles next March, starting with those that have 8-inch MyLink touchscreen systems. That's going to be a long half-year wait if you're eager to get Google Maps directions through the center stack. The good news? Chevy is promising that all vehicles with 7- and 8-inch MyLink displays (ranging from the Spark to the Corvette) will eventually have Android Auto, so you won't have to drive one of the brand's swankier machines to get a smartphone-powered infotainment deck. This article by Jon Fingas originally ran on Engadget, the definitive guide to this connected life. Related Video:
