FOR SALE 1948 Chevy 3800 1-ton Truck
This truck has a RARE 9 ft. box

I built this truck using 2 trucks. The frame and hydraulic dump box came from a 4500 series grain truck which I added the 1-ton suspension to. The cab and box came from a 3800 1-ton truck. I recessed the hydraulic cylinder and hoist into the frame so it looks like a standard pick-up, but has a dump box.

Complete brake system has been replaced (see pics) including 4-wheel cylinders, master cylinder, all steel lines and 3 rubber hoses. The brake shoes were over 50% so i reused them.

The engine I purchased form a person that had it overhauled and decided to go with a V-8. I was told it only has a few thousand miles on it, and the way it runs, I believe it!

The windshield and rear glass are new with new weatherstrips. Both side windows are original and roll up and down with ease.

New exhaust pipe and muffler (see pics)

I did not repair/replace any body panels because I wanted to keep it original (just buffed the paint). It will need cab floor panels and driver door panel repaired or drive like it is. Also, will need wiring harness replaced. I left it original also. I would recommend replacing it, so the lights, charging system etc will function correctly.

Also has new fuel pump, rebuilt carb. and complete tune-up. I flushed the original fuel tank and installed inline filter (may need to be changed again). Box floor is treated deck boards, which has not been varnished or stained.

I have a Wisconsin title for the 4500 series truck which I received when I bought the chasis. Since these trucks were identified by the engine serial number the title does not match up due to the engine and cab being replaced. If this concerns you..please don't bid.

I have 100% feedback and plan on keeping it that way.

Truck is located 15miles West of Cedar Falls/ Waterloo Ia. (Stout 50673). Delivery available for $1.50/loaded mile. Less than 10 POS feedback contact me BEFORE bidding.

$500 non-refundable deposit due immediately and remainder in CASH due within 7 days of auctions end.

Any ?s please call (319) 239-5238

Thanks and Happy Bidding,
JIM

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat vs. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in latest Head 2 Head

Fri, Jan 30 2015

"Olympian" is one of the terms we use to signify the greatest height, the seat of the gods. Yet Mt. Olympus is the second-highest peak in the Balkans ranges, overshadowed by the crest at Musala in Bulgaria's Rila mountains. Both great heights, but one is a little higher. That's how we get the Olympian Chevy Camaro ZL1 pitched at the Musalic Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in Motor Trend's latest episode of Head 2 Head. The side-by-side spec sheet is filled with farcical numbers. For the ZL1, that's a 6.2-liter V8 with 580 horsepower, 556 pound-feet of torque, a 4,051-pound curb weight, 0-to-60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds and a base price of just $57,800. Opposing that, the Hellcat wrings out its 6.2-liter V8 for 707 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque, weighs 4,449 pounds, does the quarter in 11.7 seconds and has a base price of just $60,990. Except in the case of the Hellcat, when Motor Trend put it on the dyno the machine spit out a reading of 672 hp and 606 lb-ft at the wheels. If there's a 10-percent driveline loss through those beefed-up internals and heavy-duty eight-speed transmission, that means the Hellcat is actually rated at about 750 horsepower and 700 lb-ft. But once they get put on a closed-off strip of coast road in Northern California, there are only a few strands of hair between their respective performances. That's not the case for they sensations provide; host Jonny Lieberman calls one of them, "One of the most incredible cars ever made," and says, "It changes everything." Watch the video above to see who got the verdict and how. Related Video:

GM recalling 135,000 SUVs with plastic jacks that can break

Sat, Jun 19 2021

General Motors is recalling 135,400 compact crossovers because their emergency jack can break under load. The problem occurs when the jack — which is plastic — isn't positioned correctly as detailed in the owner's manual. This can cause the jack to fracture. If the jack breaks and the vehicle collapses, there's a risk of injury or death, according to an NHTSA recall alert. The recall involves the 2020-22 Buick Encore GX and 2021-22 Chevrolet Trailblazer. A GM test driver discovered the problem when he broke a jack during a durability test on a Trailblazer. GM started investigating in April and found 21 claims of jack failures, including one reported injury. "This jack design may not be sufficiently robust against fractures if improperly or incorrectly positioned on the vehicle frame by the user," a NHTSA safety report said. GM will start notifying vehicle owners July 26. It will provide free replacement jacks that are made of metal.   Featured Gallery 2021 Buick Encore GX View 21 Photos Recalls Buick Chevrolet GM

Chevrolet Silverado reportedly getting the GMC Sierra's MultiPro tailgate

Mon, Aug 17 2020

GMC reinvented the pickup tailgate when it added a six-way option named MultiPro to the current-generation Sierra it introduced in 2019. It kept this clever feature to itself as a way to differentiate the Sierra from the Chevrolet Silverado, but a recent report claims it will begin sharing it in the not-too-distant future. Enthusiast website GM Authority learned from anonymous sources familiar with Chevrolet's product plans that the Silverado will soon receive its own version of the MultiPro tailgate. It will be called either MultiFlex or Multi-Flex, a name Chevrolet has already trademarked, and it was initially scheduled to make its debut for the 2021 model year. Its arrival might be delayed until the 2022 model year due to the coronavirus pandemic, however. Chevrolet's Silverado and GMC's Sierra are nearly identical under the sheet metal, so adding the latter's six-way tailgate to the former will be a relatively straightforward and cost-effective process. Interestingly, GM Authority wrote engineers could add a seventh function to the tailgate, though it didn't reveal what they have in store. It's also not sure whether both trucks will get the new feature, or if it will exclusively be offered on the Chevrolet. 2022 will bring major updates to the Silverado and the Sierra, potentially including — as we've previously reported — an independent rear suspension. Interior upgrades will allegedly be part of the mid-cycle changes, too, but we still don't know if the Silverado will receive the tough carbon fiber cargo box available in the Sierra. In the meantime, motorists in the market for a Sierra will temporarily have fewer options to choose from. GMC has asked its dealers to stop taking orders for the regular- and double-cab variants of the truck, according to a separate report from GM Authority. Putting the slower-selling regular- and double-cab trucks on hiatus will allow dealers to build up their inventory of crew-cabs, which sell far better and are in relatively short supply. These restrictions will remain in effect until the 2021 model year, which starts on September 14 for double- and crew-cab models and on September 21 for regular-cab trucks. All three body styles will be available in 2021. Related Video:
