1967 Chevelle 572 Prostreet on 2040-cars
Catoosa, Oklahoma, United States

This is an awesome Pro street Chevelle, it was built for cruising and an occasional trip down the track at nostalgia drags, but I have never raced this car, it has fairly high gears in it (323's) a Chrysler 8 3/4 Posi. limited slip for cruising. It has an awesome 572 GM crate motor with a pro built 700 R4 trans rated at over 700 HP, the brakes are hydro boost power assist tied in to the power steering pump. The radiator is aluminum with 2 large fans that keeps the engine running cool even in a parade which I did in May. The interior is all custom black with simulated Ostrich skin including removable bars on the roll cage to help enter the car, they are built to swing forward or you can take them out completely. It comes with a very nice sound system (not over the top) but has a Sony CD player, 2 amps,Kicker 6 1/2 front speakers, Blaupunkt 6X9 in the rear with a Bazooka sub. It has an electric rear mounted antenna and the trunk has an electric lock release. The dash is fitted with Dolphin gauges, the only thing is that the speedometer is not right, it needs to be calibrated by a speedometer shop to match the huge tires in the back with the trans and the rear end gears. The Paint is beautifull but not a perfect show quality job, I would give it a 9 1/2 out of 10. The wheels are Billet wheels front and back, the exhaust is 3 inch with electric cut outs, If you ever want to get gas and leave quickly from the gas pump without having to answer questions and letting people look out the car then this is not the car for you. I get thumbs up from young and old alike including cops. This is a real head turner, I know that I have not listed everything so if you have any questions please ask and I will do my best to answer all. Buyer is responsible for all shipping cost and a $1000 deposit is required immediately after purchase.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

Surprise! GM putting aluminum in next-gen pickups
Wed, Aug 5 2015Last month, General Motors launched a series of ads touting the benefits of steel over aluminum – specifically, with regard to the Chevy Silverado versus the Ford F-150. (Kind of. We're not sure what a grizzly bear has to do with anything.) We took issue with the ads, with editor in chief Mike Austin saying they "reek of insecurity, and distract from the Silverado's strengths that could be used for positive advertising." But what bothers us more, is that yet another report surfaced claiming anti-aluminum GM will indeed use the weight-saving material in its next-generation fullsize trucks. On Tuesday, GM announced a $877-million investment for its truck plant in Flint, MI. But Reuters says that huge overhaul is because the trucks will use "substantially different equipment than the tools GM uses today." The report specifically states, "People familiar with the company's plans say GM's next-generation pickups and SUVs will make use of various materials, including aluminum and lightweight steel, to shed weight and gain fuel efficiency to meet tougher federal standards." The Silverado already uses a few aluminum components in the engine and hood, and if more widespread use will help GM build its best fullsize trucks ever, then that's great. Honestly, we have no reason to doubt that aluminum will be used in the next Silverado and GMC Sierra. We just hope GM remembers that nothing is ever truly deleted from the bowels of the Internet when it launches the subsequent "look how great aluminum is!" campaign.
