Up for auction is a really nice 1966 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe.  It has Impala SS emblems on it but it is not an SS.  She was originally built in Atlanta and sold new in South Carolina.  I have the original owners manual and protect-o-plate to go along.  There are many upgrades to this Impala beginning with the 454 Big Block engine.  This Big Block is the low horsepower engine with an aluminum intake and a new Holley Carb.  She has a new electronic ignition.  There is also dual exhaust with nice sounding mufflers and tailpipes that come out at the correct factory location.  There is a brand new Turbo 350 Transmission and torque converter and I have the receipt for that.  There is a picture to show the proper transmission shift linkage on the column just as the factory had for this car.  The engine and transmission work great and this car has lots of power.  There are no fluid leaks of any kind.  The brakes have been upgraded to drilled and slotted disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear.  A power brake booster was part of this conversion kit.  She has 15 inch by 8 inch aftermarket ralley wheels to accommodate the disc brakes.

The body of this Impala is very solid and has been repainted sometime before I bought the car.  I would call it a great 10 footer.  All exterior chrome moldings have been removed from the side of the Impala giving her a unique look.  The car was not originally bright red but this color really sets this Impala apart from other Impalas.  She gets lot's of looks at the local cruise in.  The trunk floor is very solid with only a spot of rust on the right side.  A picture shows this.  The floors are also very solid with only one spot on the passenger floor about the size of your fist.  Again I've attempted to show with a picture.  I have many pictures and can always provide more.

The interior is really great!  It is all black.  No marks or issues with the seats, door panels or headliner.  The dash is pretty much original and has an AM-FM Radio.  The mileage is 97,105 and believed to be original but I have no evidence to support that.  The car runs and drives well and the mileage may go up between now and the end of this auction as I do drive this Impala.  The car does require a few things, one she could use some new tires, two she needs a front end alignment since the installation of the new braking system and three she needs a new heater core which I will include with the sale.  Now I don't have to sell this car.  I have too many and this one is forced to sit outside.  As everyone knows that is not the best thing for a classic car so I will see if anyone wants to continue what was started on this car.  She does need a few things and I have her priced accordingly but I will not give her away.  I have a clear North Carolina title in my name.  I will help you or your agent load her up but this Impala will not leave my property before being paid in full.  Please no scams with any kind of check.  I will not accept them.  Cash or bank transfers.  If you have less than a +5 feedback please email me before bidding or I will reject your bid.  No buy it now price and I will not end the auction early.  Yes there is a reserve but I will keep that to myself.  This Impala is also for sale locally and could be sold at anytime but once the reserve is met I will allow the auction to run it's course and sell to the highest bidder.  This is an opportunity to get started in the collector hobby with a running driving car that shows great potential.  This Impala is sold as-is with no warranties expressed or implied with no returns.

CA Chevy dealer allegedly adds $50K 'market value adjustment' to 2015 Z06

Fri, Jan 9 2015

It seems to happen with every eagerly anticipated new car – dealerships, recognizing that crushing demand far outstrips the initial limited supply of a new model, inflate the price via a so-called "market value adjustment." We've seen it in the past with a number of new models, and now it's happening again with one of the Detroit 3's hottest vehicles. A dealership in Roseville, CA, outside of Sacramento, has allegedly attached a staggering $49,995 market value adjustment to a 2015 Corvette Z06. We say allegedly because, despite the evidence uncovered by BoostAddict, John L. Sullivan Chevy's online inventory listing doesn't display the price premium of the Z06 in question, a (normally) $93,965 model with the top-end 3LZ trim. It's unclear if either of the dealer's other Z06s, both 3LZs, one of which is in transit, will receive similar price adjustments. Now, legally, Sullivan Chevy isn't doing anything wrong here. Dealerships are under no obligation to observe a manufacturer's suggested retail price, a point General Motors' spokesperson Ryndee Carney pointed out to Autoblog via email. "For the Corvette Z06, Chevrolet has established a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price we feel is right for the market. Actual transaction prices, however, are the province of the dealer," Carney said, adding that a dealer zone manager will be discussing the price hike with the dealership. While we also reached out to the dealership over both the market value adjustment and the price of the Z06 as it appears on the company's website, we've yet to hear back as of this writing. Should they reply to our inquiries, we'll be sure to update you. Until then, we'd like to hear what you think about this case. Is Sullivan Chevy simply pricing the cars as high as it thinks the market can bear, or is this a cash grab for an hotly anticipated product? Have your say in Comments.

Fullsize GM SUVs have a problem that's making owners sick

Thu, Dec 31 2015

Some fullsize SUV owners are getting sick, thanks to a buffeting and vibration problem in 2015 model year examples of the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, Cadillac Escalade, and GMC Yukon. According to owners' complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue can vary from an annoying vibration inside the cabin to an experience so severe that it leads to dizziness and headaches. General Motors is aware of the complaints, but the fix isn't so simple. According to spokesperson Tom Wilkinson to Autoblog, the company "has been tracking this issue for a while." The problem has a fairly low incidence rate, but when it does occur the issue can be "uncomfortable and annoying for owners." There's no precise cause for the issue, Wilkinson claims, and in some cases, simply balancing the tires or changing the door seals can make it go away. However, not all of the fixes are so simple. AutoGuide dug deep into the problem and discovered a GM preliminary information bulletin that advised dealers to remove the headliner and to check the roof's bonds to the bows that go across the vehicle. However, that document included a note that the solution might not entirely eliminate things. According to AutoGuide, adding Dynamat insulation to the roof sometimes helped the problem. A GM spokesperson also told AutoGuide the company fixed the problem at the end of the 2015 model year, and didn't go into any more detail. This roof issue seems linked to some of the worst droning in these SUVs. According to one complaint from a 2015 Suburban owner to NHTSA: "Roof will not remain attached to the roof bows. This causes the buffeting similar to a window being down when all are up. The results span from annoying to painful." A 2015 Yukon owner claims to have another alleged cause for the problem in a NHTSA complaint from February 2015. This person brought their SUV to the dealer seven times over the course of four weeks for vibrations. The dealer replaced the driveshaft, suspension components, and more, but nothing worked. According to an engineer to the service adviser: "In an effort to prevent roll overs, they designed the frame and body mounts too stiff. There are 40 engineers working on issues, they have no solutions that work across the board." Wilkinson told Autoblog that GM is working with customers on an individual basis to rectify things. Since these are newer vehicles, dealers should also fix the problem under warranty.

Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step

Thu, Feb 2 2017

General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet.
