2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA LTZ
Have decided to sell my Impala that I have owned for the last 2.5 years. Has been a great, reliable car for me and it will for the next owner for many years to come. Southern car from new, original owner was from Alabama. Beautiful color combo - White exterior with light gray leather interior and wood grain trim on the dash. Has the larger of the 2 Impala engines of the year - the 3.9 Liter V-6 with automatic. It currently has 78,835 miles and is currently parked locally at a "by owner" car lot so mileage will not change much if any at all. Excellent condition throughout and very well maintained to factory specs. Previous owner took great care of the car and so have I. Synthetic oil always used for changes and I have a file with many service history receipts to back that up. No stories, no issues, no smells and no leaks. Only some very minor and small touched up rocks chips on the front and one small (and I mean small) ding on the passenger side C-pillar. Interior is extremely clean and leather has been treated with a conditioner regularly. Has spare tire (don't think ever been used) with tools and jack. Also has all original owners manuals, 2 key fobs, and 2 remotes. Has heavy duty rubber mats on top of the factory carpet mats. Trunk is huge(!) with cargo net, also rear seats fold down if you need to haul longer items. Loaded with all options except sunroof (full power, leather, CD, steering wheel mounted controls, bluetooth, heated seats, cruise, CD, XM satellite radio and just renewed subscription through April 2015(!), On-Star capable but not connected, Bose stereo, fog lights, remote start, leather wrapped steering wheel, spoiler, factory dual exhaust, etc. LTZ option also gives you the nicer 18" factory alloy wheels and sportier suspension. Very nice to drive, definitely not a sports car but feels solid and hunkered down on the road. Also super comfortable on the highway, goes straight with no rattles or vibrations. I usually get around 22-23 MPG around town and 27-28 MPG on the highway. It is possible to get 30 if you take it easy. Also just replaced factory Goodyear GSA's with a brand net set of Yokohama Avid Ascend tires approx. 2k miles ago. Car just serviced and fully detailed with a hand wax and carpet shampoo so it's ready to hit the road (only thing not done was a detailing of the engine compartment). Clean Carfax with no issues or accidents. I also have clear title in hand with no liens. Local inspections and test drives welcome for serious bidders. Would recommend seeing this car in person I don't think you would be disappointed. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions and thanks for looking. Please make sure you have funds available (or bank loan approved) before bidding! Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if necessary. I will not disclose my reserve but it is very reasonable. Good luck! |

Why an independent rear suspension for GM's new, full-sized SUVs wasn't easy
Mon, Dec 23 2019A Motor Trend report last month laid out how Cadillac's 4.2-lier twin-turbo Blackwing V8 could be an orphan due to cost concerns in the GM empire. Last-minute chassis changes to Cadillac's new sedans and XT6 crossover led to engine bays that couldn't fit the Blackwing. On the SUV side, according to the report, the new independent rear suspension for big people haulers cost so much to implement that GM ruled out reworking the Escalade to accept the Blackwing. At least one commenter rightly asked how could a suspension swallow that much money. A new piece in Motor Trend has the answer. The excellent Alissa Priddle spoke to Tim Herrick, GM's executive chief engineer for full-size trucks, about why the clean-sheet IRS cost "multimillions of dollars." First, GM would need to build a new body shop at the Arlington, Texas plant that assembles the automaker's big SUVs to stamp the numerous wholly new parts and panels accommodating an IRS. Then GM would need to design and pay for a new assembly process. On top of those up-front costs, there was the incremental cost of the four-link IRS components being more expensive than those in the trucks' former leaf-sprung solid axles. Herrick endured so many rejections for so long that he remembers the date and time when he got approval for the new unit. He said it came down to a meeting where he told a higher-up, "I'll make you a deal: If we get to the reveal, or if we launch this and you think this was a dumb idea, I'll hand you my badge and let you walk me out." Head to Motor Trend to read the full story. Based on Herrick being on stage to help present the new SUVs to the press, and on our First Ride in the new Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban at GM's Milford Proving Grounds, it appears this will have a happy ending for all involved. Furthermore, since Herrick worked on the T1 platform that supports the big SUVs as well as the light- and heavy-duty pickups, he understood the demands on the commercial side, too. That could be why when Roadshow asked Tim Asoklis, chief engineer of the Tahoe and Suburban, if the new IRS could endure life in the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, Asoklis answered, "Oh, absolutely." LG Chem's troubled Chevy Volt battery plant hiring once again
Thu, Sep 25 2014The Michigan battery plant known for paying its workers to do nothing has turned things around and is now hiring more workers, specifically to do something. South Korea-based LG Chem, which runs the factory to supply the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle with its lithium-ion batteries, held a job fair recently to bring on 40 new employees in order to meet higher battery demand, according to WZZM, the ABC affiliate for Grand Rapids, MI. The LG Chem factory is in Holland, MI, about 30 miles west of Grand Rapids, and it made its first batteries last year. Prior to that, though, the factory gained notoriety after a US Department of Energy (DOE) probe found that workers there were getting paid to do, well, nothing. That's because demand for the battery packs was so low that it cost less for the plant to sit idle. The DOE was conducting the probe because of its financial grant to LG Chem. But that was then and today is today. LG Chem is looking to ramp up production in advance of the second-generation Volt. That 2016 model-year version is said to have a longer all-electric range and better performance and will ride on a new chassis, but few official details have surfaced. We will know more when we get our first look at the car at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.
