Up for sale is my 1962 Chevrolet Impala Police car, this was not a police car from the factory. Two years ago I bought the car running and driving but the body was a little worse for wear, it was not too bad for being a northern car but it did have lower quarter rust and lower fender rust. I proceeded to strip all of the old laquor paint off to bare metal, I cut out all of the rust and patched all of the rotted area's on the outside as well as the floor. The body has Napa primer and RM single stage black and white which has the clear coat mixed in with the color which means it has all of the UV protection of clear coat. The car has all new seals, window channels and window felt. I patched the trunk in several places and put new spatter paint in it for a factory look.

The engine is a professionally rebuilt 1962 circa 327 small block with and Edelbrock 4 barrel 600 cfm carburetor and an Edelbrock intake. All of the parts inside and outside the motor are new it alos has a pair of Headman Hedders. I installed a factory rebuilt radiator and a new heater core.

The transmission is a re manufactured TH350 3 speed automatic that replaced the cast iron 2 speed powerglide. I had the driveshaft cut and balanced since the th350 is a bit longer.

The interior has new carpet and headliner, I reupholstered the seats with tan velour to get that simple police car look. The door panels have been stripped and recovered with a matching material to the door seats. All of the metal parts have been repainted to match the rest of the interior. All of the gauges have been replaced and I replaced some of the wiring that needed to be removed.

The suspension is all original, it works fine but the bushings need to be replaced as well as the ball joints. The car rides great with the factory springs in it, it takes bumps great just like a Cadillac.

I am selling the car because I am planning on getting a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air in similar condition, so I would accept a trade for one.

GM cars and SUVs recalled for leaking transmission fluid

General Motors is recalling more than 194,000 vehicles from 2018 to 2020 due to transmission fluid leaks. The leaks stem from an auto stop-start component that may have been installed with loose or missing bolts. The leaking fluid can affect the transmission's performance, and if it leaks onto a hot exhaust component, could potentially cause a fire. GM says that to date, it knows of no accidents or injuries related to the defect. The issue affects models from all four GM divisions. From Chevrolet, the affected vehicles are: 2018 Malibu, 2018–2019 Cruze, 2018Â–2020 Equinox, 2018Â–2020 Traverse, 2019Â–2020 Blazer At Buick, the following models are included: 2018Â–2019 LaCrosse, 2019Â–2020 Encore, 2019Â–2020 Enclave, At GMC, the recall includes: 2018Â–2020 Terrain, 2019Â–2020 Acadia Cadillac has two affected vehicles: 2019Â–2020 XT4 and 2020 XT6 The recall is scheduled to begin in mid-December. Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted. Dealers will inspect the transmission accumulator, and replace those with loose or missing bolts.

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises.
