Here we have an absolute rust free 60s survivor.  I purchased it from a gentleman that bought it for his wife in 1964.  Her favorite color was red and it was repainted 50 years ago and added 60's style interior.  Was parked in 1984 and recently pulled out of its barn.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT
Its a 348 V8 with a powerglide automatic transmission. Runs excellent, shifts smoothly and drives great.  Has original generator with power steering, also power brakes.  New brakes all around including rebuilt master cylinder.  Engine bay is untouched, looks like all original components are in place and in good working order.  All lights work and it can be driven daily.  New gas tank and sending unit to keep all the 30 year old dirt away from the rebuilt carburator.   (still have the original gas tank to be cleaned and reinstalled if so desired)

INTERIOR
As previously stated, this is an original 60's style interior.  Its in great shape showing some light fading due to age.  Seat foam is firm like new, no rips or tears. Headliner and sunvisors are in great shape.  The carpet has faded in some areas and theres a small hole near the front passenger sill molding due to age deterioration. The interior stainless, chrome and aluminum show no pitting or surface rust and is all in good shape.  All gauges work except for clock.  Fan and Heater work great and controls are very smooth.  Dash paint is bright shows no damage.

GLASS
Windows go up and down with ease.  There is a small crack on the left lower side of the windshield; according to the original owner, it was there for as long as he owned the car.  Window frames are in very nice shape, with almost no pitting showing if any at all.

EXTERIOR AND TRIM
The chrome is in excellent condition for its age, bright and straight.  Stainless trim is straight and shiny with some small dings on the side spears and side trim. Aluminum is also nice and straight with a few dings here and there.
Doors, trunk and hood open and shut smoothly, better than a new car  -must watch video-
Floors are SOLID, no soft spots or questionable spots anywhere that I can see.  The trunk had the infamous 59 rubber mat which is know to hold moisture, so there is some oxidation but nothing rusted or rotted through.  I got rid of the mat and left the upper section in place as its glued down and didnt want to rip it out.
All original metal, no body work ever done on this incredible rust free body.  It is an original BLACK car with red interior.   It was repainted red 50 years ago, all jams were done too.  Still shows nice and its presentable, but keep in mind its half a century old.  There are some "everyday" paint scratches and the trunk shows some of the paint that has come off.  There are no notable dings, dents or body damage.

So here is your chance to own a true one of a kind 59 Impala, you will be hard pressed to find another example of a clean solid ready to go survivor.  You could to leave it alone and enjoy it as is; as a 60s original survivor.  Or perfect to do a makeover with a great solid canvas which you know what it is from day one.

There are lots of pics and Videos, please feel free to ask any questions and offers will be considered,  but because the uniqueness of this car its very tough to put a dollar figure on it.

Once its payed for, I can assist with shipping and can also store vehicle indoor for a reasonable amount of time.

General Motors Recall List

Wed, Oct 22 2014

It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. We used the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall list to compile a snapshot of all the GM vehicles recalled in the last two months. NHTSA also provides a search engine that allows owners to search for recalls on their vehicle. An automotive company must do everything in their power to notify its customers when a recall is issued on a vehicle. If you own any of the following vehicles and you have questions regarding your car, you can contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Buick at 1-800-521-7300 and Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. Or check out General Motor's recall site. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov. Here's a brief summery of the other vehicles currently under recall: July 26 – 414,333 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V447000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. Problem: In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position. Consequence: If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Solution: Dealers will replace the height adjuster shoulder bolts, free of charge. July 14 – 16,939 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V341000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured October 18, 2010, to June 2, 2011. Problem: In the affected vehicles, vibrations from the drive shaft may cause the vehicle's roll over sensor to command the roof rail air bags to deploy. Consequence: If the roof rail air bags deploy unexpectedly, there is an increased risk of crash and injury to the occupants.

How real is the Chevy Bolt EV and will it really cost $30,000?

Tue, Jan 13 2015

"This is us bragging that we can do this kind of car." That's how Michael Simcoe, GM's executive director for NA exteriors, described the Chevy Bolt EV concept, which made a surprise appearance at the Detroit Auto Show today. While there was talk of a 2017 production debut, this is for sure a concept vehicle. But that means the ideas behind the vehicle are perhaps more important than the details. For example, no one is talking about what size battery might appear in a production Bolt, but Simcoe would talk about how rapid progress in battery improvements made it possible for GM to make the bold Bolt declaration that promises 200 miles and a price tag of around $30,000 (after incentives). But if the Bolt makes it to market, it won't be until 2017 (as rumored) or later, is it really fair to promote the car as being available with a federal tax credit? For one thing, credits for plug-in vehicles may change in the next few years, but if the laws stay the same, each manufacturer is limited to 200,000 vehicles before the credits start to decline. GM is justifiably proud that it's sold over 70,000 Volts thus far, but with a new model coming out later this year and a few years to go until the Bolt potentially arrives, GM could be pushing right up against that 200,000 limit when the Bolt goes on sale. But Volt executive chief engineer Pam Fletcher told AutoblogGreen that, "We're just trying to take some of the confusion out." "Think about talking to the average consumer," she said. "First, going through the explanation of how the federal tax credit was set up, how it's being used and so on. [In the industry, we] have the luxury of understanding the nuances of that regulation, but right now people who aren't in the marketplace, they don't have the luxury of all that. It's already hard to communicate the details so we gave them data in a way that is what they're used to seeing." There was one question that drove the two-year Bolt gestation and design period, Simcoe said: What does a better battery offer a vehicle designer? "We've got a number of spaces we play in for powertrain technology and obviously electrification is one of them," he said. "With Volt 1 and then the Spark EV, with that development and batteries getting better for us, we started doing some practical packaging to deliver a vehicle which was not the traditional aero form which you see around electric vehicles.

GM exploring ways to raise half-ton Duramax diesel tow rating

Sun, Nov 3 2019

Lots of truck owners cheered when GM announced fuel economy numbers for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado with the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel inline-six. Even after Ram let loose its EPA mileage ratings for the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, the Chevy oil-burner still took the trophy. The victory was years in the making, GM engineers spending an entire four-year development cycle refining the LM2 Duramax to increase mileage. The tradeoff, as well all know by now, is towing; the Duramax in half-ton duty pulls a maximum 9,300 pounds in the Silverado. Rivals across town can do more, the Ford F-150 PowerStroke rated at 11,500, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel game to pull 12,560. GM engineer John Barta told Muscle Cars & Trucks that more hauling chops could be on the way, explaining, "We’re actually looking at upgrading some of the materials around (the engine bay) to see if we can maybe raise our tow rating." Engine bay materials are at issue due to thermal complexities underhood. John Barta, GM's assistant chief engineer of diesel engine controls, said the Duramax's inline-six configuration allowed engineers to get emissions hardware like the combined selective catalytic reduction, diesel oxidation catalysts, and diesel particulate filter unit closer to the engine, where it heats up quicker, getting emissions down quicker. But that filter puts another heat source in those confines, enforcing a cap on the tow rating to keep the engine and other systems from overheating. "If you look under the hood," he said, "youÂ’ll see a significant amount of silver ‘moon tapeÂ’ around to make sure things arenÂ’t getting overheatedÂ… if we were to go up in higher towing, which we can, we start impacting the possibility of deteriorating some of the components.” There isn't much space for more grille, so swapping for a better grade of "moon tape" or a different kind of material could reduce engine bay heat, extracting a higher tow rating in the process.  It's important to note a point Barta's been making for months about the Duramax figures, though. "Even though itÂ’s nice to brag about big numbers, in reality, light duty customers are not towing that large with their trucks," and, "We do know that (95 percent) of our light duty customers donÂ’t tow over 9,000 pounds." On our First Drive of the 2020 Silverado diesel we called out the tow rating, but emphasized that the Chevy and GMC have more important challenges to overcome.
