The ‘68 was not called a Stingray and is unique of all the C3s

    Remember the L88?

This car has 30+ years in and out of storage with several moves...

I’ve also posted a couple of pictures of my Corvette/projects; they are not for sale, so please don’t ask. My babies!

This started as a father/son project, but because of Dad’s health (he’s nearly 70), financial considerations, and storage reasons he is certain it would not get completed. And, I’m busy with my ’67.

  • Factory original engine was:  a 327 SBC, 300 HP with 4 speed gearbox
  • It now has:  a rebuildable 454 BBC resides with a 4 speed gearbox

  • I have another “010” standard bore, 350, 4-bolt main block and also the coil springs that may go with it or swap?  (read further)
  • Also, a complete vintage ‘68 350HP 396 could be included or purchased separately (read further)

  • This car has power steering, power brakes, non-air, manual windows
  • Cleaning house...Interior pieces are in several boxes with spare parts.

I will box up and seal to protect them in transit

  • Front and rear sway bars
  • 4 wheel disc brakes
  • Two sets of wheels: Original Rally and American Racing
  • Hardtop only (perfect for a an ’68 L88 clone!)
  • New BBC headers in box
  • New Front end clip, temporarily attached in place
  • “427” Original big block hood with trim and emblems! (Worth nearly $1000.00 +/- by itself.)
  • Frame is in good shape with surface rust only (no rust outs)
  • Spare tire cover in good shape with original jack and handle
  • Body was stripped bare, several layers of primer applied and some areas are sanded smooth
  • New door pins/bushings installed in the hinges years ago

I may have missed something, but to my knowledge, I believe that is most of it. Please feel free to ask questions before bidding. I will do my best to answer them. I am not an expert by any means, but love these cars. I wish things were different and I was a bit younger, too, LOL... Barely enough time to work on my cars and ride my bike! If you are serious and are close to the St. Louis, Missouri area, you may arrange to see the car. Sorry for only posting exterior pictures, but the car is currently in storage.  The majority of the interior is boxed up in my father’s basement. These pictures were taken in the fall of 2013 at my house while we were cleaning the car.  We were waiting for Spring when the project season begins, but now have decided to let the car find a new home instead.

We have a dollar number in mind (above reserve); if the price meets our figure then the extra engines (mentioned earlier in this post) will be included for the new owner.  There is an extra 4 speed, too.  But, I think that the 4 speed needs some attention.  However, if the car doesn’t meet our figure during the auction, the extra engines, etc listed above would not be included.  They would be for sale separate from this auction.  Please inquire if you have questions.

I will assist in loading the parts and the car. BUT, it is the responsibility of the purchaser to incur any and all expenses related to shipping and or damages. There are no guarantees in life, none on this vehicle, and no warranty is implied or given as well. This Corvette is nearly 50 years old. So, please understand this is a huge undertaking and only the experienced should consider it. Chevrolet only produced 18,630 convertibles in 1968.

I reserve the right to sell the car locally, but only AFTER this Ebay auction has ended, if the car didn’t meet reserve.  I will not entertain any funny business, “lookie Lous”, or tire kickers! I have a 100% positive feedback.

If you bid and win, you’ve purchased this car. I can retain the storage until the end of March 2014. Otherwise, additional expenses will be incurred by the new owner/purchaser. Once the car is paid for, in full, then additional storage time could be addressed for a later pick up.  A $1,000.00 payment is required to my Paypal account within 24 hours of auction’s end, period.  The balance shall be paid to me, via cash, M.O., or a cashier’s check within 7 calendar days after deposit. No refunds and no excuses please. The payment must be cleared before I will release the car and the title.

Thank you for your time to review this auction.  Happy bidding!  Remember, this is supposed to be fun and, it’s nearly spring, so... lets go!

Good luck,

Scott

VW, Jeep and Cadillac top list of most-tattooed car brands

Tue, Oct 6 2020

Most car enthusiasts own at least one piece of gear with their favorite brand's logo on it. It can be a T-shirt, a pen, a hat, or a garage sign, for example. It takes a much greater degree of dedication to get a car-themed tattoo, and a study suggests this sky-scraping level of obsession is most often found in Volkswagen, Jeep, and Cadillac fans. Compare the Market analyzed Instagram hashtags and posts to compile a list of the most commonly tattooed brands. Volkswagen came out on top, with 5,507 posts; note that anything related to the Wolfsburg-based brand earns it a point, whether it's a logo, a cutaway diagram of the Beetle's air-cooled flat-four engine, or a Touareg V10's firing order. Jeep finished second with 2,139 posts, followed by Cadillac at 1,775 posts. Surprisingly, the fourth spot is occupied by Pontiac, which appeared in 1,609 posts in spite of the fact that it hasn't built a car since 2010. Holden appears near the very bottom of the top-20 chart, ahead of Lamborghini, and its result might be influenced by the fact that General Motors announced plans to shutter it earlier in 2020. BMW and Mercedes-Benz are in sixth and 12th place, respectively. Alfa Romeo doesn't appear in the top 20, though its decades-old Quadrifoglio logo (pictured) can easily be mistaken for a symbol of Irish luck. Searching for posts that show a tattoo of a specific model uncovered even bigger surprises. According to the same study, the most-tattoed nameplate is the Chevrolet Impala, which appears in 823 posts. Odds are the earlier generations, like Dr. Dre's famous six-four, are more often tattooed than the final-generation model, which unceremoniously went out of production in February 2020 without a direct replacement waiting in the wings. Second place goes to the DeLorean DMC-12, which has transcended its status as an esoteric fiasco on wheels thanks to its role as a time machine in "Back to the Future." It appeared in 800 posts. Chevrolet's Corvette takes a distant third with 180 posts, followed by the Volkswagen Beetle (147 posts) and the Mini Cooper (116 posts). All told, car-themed tattoos are relatively rare. To put some of the aforementioned numbers into context, searching Instagram for the hashtag Volkswagen yields over 15 million posts, while the hashtag tattoo appears in over three million publications. The 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan is for drivers who value performance above all else

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

The car you see above is the 2014 Chevrolet SS, and it's important both because it is the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from Chevy in 17 years, and because it will be the nameplate the brand uses on NASCAR tracks all across the country starting this year.
Though it wears a name as American as baseball and apple pie, the machine was actually designed and built in Australia, sharing most of its parts with the brand-new VF-model Holden Commodore. That said, the basic chassis bits are shared with other Chevrolet models like the Camaro and Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle.
While Chevrolet is happy to sell a Malibu or Impala to anyone looking for a mainstream family sedan, but the SS is reserved for buyers interested first and foremost in performance. Most sedans sold these days are front-wheel drive, which is great for everyday driving and when the weather goes bad, but the SS is instead a rear-wheel-drive vehicle aimed at enthusiasts who love to drive and who prefer speed and performance above all else.

Super Bowl LVII car commercial roundup: Watch them all here

Mon, Feb 13 2023

Fewer automakers than usual spent money advertising during Super Bowl LVII. In total, there were only five traditional ad spots from three big OEMs. A number of car-adjacent ads aired during the Big Game, too, and we’ll bring you those ads in this roundup alongside the more obvious ones. WeÂ’ve compiled all of the automotive-related commercials for you here in this post so you donÂ’t have to go searching for them elsewhere. Read on below to see what aired as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles. Ram's Super Bowl spot offers a cure for 'Premature Electrification' This commercial revealed the new electric Ram Rev pickup, and itÂ’s themed like a prescription ad for an antidote to "Premature Electrification.” A concerned narrator in the Ram spot asks if you're afraid that going electric too soon will mean "you might not be able to last as long as you like," and there's a guy on a pier who's going to need some new equipment if he wants to catch fish. We're also told there are "options being designed to extend range in satisfying ways," so if this truck isn't right for you, you have choices. All the commercial's missing is a silly medical marketing name and six seconds of speed-reading gibberish about side effects like intestinal bleeding and death. Which are two more good things. Jeep 4xe Super Bowl commercial highlights modern version of 'Electric Boogie' JeepÂ’s “Electric Boogie” commercial follows the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe in a variety of simulated off-road situations. Though fun, the soundtrack is the real star of the show. The songÂ’s original artist, Marcia Griffiths, was joined by Grammy winner Shaggy, Jamila Falak, Amber Lee, and Moyann on the track. The modernized re-recording celebrates 40 years since GriffithsÂ’ original track, and Jeep says the track is available for streaming now. Kia returns to the Super Bowl with the tale of 'Binky Dad' This year, Kia follows the adventure of "Binky Dad" in his quest to fetch his daughter's lost pacifier, which naturally takes him over just about every bit of terrain you might encounter upon leaving the civilized confines of Southern California for the not-so-civilized mountains of ... probably also California. It features the refreshed 2023 Kia Telluride, which probably doesnÂ’t need much advertising to see these days, but Kia went for it with the strong three-row SUV anyway.
