1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe. I am a private individual who loves Corvettes and just happened to stumble upon the 63. I purchased it not really knowing too much about the numbers correct stuff - I just loved the car. The seller owned the car for over 30 plus years and told me the car was virtually unmolested with the exception of a paint color change sometime in the 1980's. Upon purchasing it, I had a professional Corvette shop go through it to find out it was all numbers correct on the engine and transmission, however it had a different newer rear in it. The also checked the body and bonding strips and could not find any remnants of any body damage. They believe it was never hit. They checked the frame and suspension and felt the car was in remarkable condition for its age. The block casting numbers are 3782870 and the pad is stamped with the partial VIN as shown in the pic.
The car has the highly sought after 4 speed 340 horsepower drivetrain. It runs and drives amazing for its age. It seems to have a bit of an aggressive cam as it has a nice lope. I spent around $2000 plus on getting it running and driving great last year after sitting for a about a 2 years as I initially did not have it registered. The car is fully registered and titled in my name. The mileage is 74019 and is showing actual mileage on the title and the previous owner stated he put very few miles on it during his 30 plus year of ownership.
I have been told the car was originally riverside red with a black interior. I was told it was painted sometime in the 1980's. There are some minor cracks and chips around the paint, but it still shows beautifully for its age. It is almost too nice to repaint - so I just left it alone.
Mechanically, I had the fuel pump rebuilt, a new water pump installed, new GM reproduction hoses and belt replaced, all wheel bearings and brakes checked and some parts replaced, new battery, oil and filter change, carburetor rebuild and calibration and new points and plugs and wires. I also had the fluids flushed and changed. The car does not run hot even in standing traffic. All lights work and wipers - the turn signal sticks sometimes and should likely be addressed down the road. All gauges work including the clock - I have not checked the time, but it does run. Someone changed the radio to a cassette deck long ago - I have the original radio from the car that will come with the car. I was told the wheels were a high quality aftermarket and I have a spare 5th wheel and tire that matches the car and will be included in the sale. I have a bunch of parts to include in the sale including parts that came off the car over the years when something was replaced.

GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.

Chevy Silverado Special Ops will go into limited production

Tue, Dec 15 2015

Remember the Special Ops edition Silverado? Chevy showcased it as a show truck at SEMA last month. And now it's going into limited production, and proceeds will support the National Navy SEAL Museum. The special pickup was based on a Silverado 1500 in Z71 spec and done up with a special three-tone paint job inspired by the camouflage used on 20th-century warships. Known as Razzle Dazzle, the camo was designed to disguise a ship's form and movements from enemy vessels. Chevy also fitted the show truck with a sport bar, off-road LEDs, lower- and under-body reinforcement, and flared wheel arches packing special 20-inch wheels. Following its debut at SEMA, former GM chairman Dan Akerson (a US Naval Academy alum) and retired Navy SEAL Master Chief Rick Kaiser presented the concept truck at the 116th Army-Navy football game this past weekend. Chevy hasn't said just how many it will build and at what price, but production is slated to be "limited," going on sale in the spring. Everest Team to raise Post Traumatic Stress Disorder awareness - GM Military Discount expands to include all veterans PHILADELPHIA – For the sixth consecutive year, Chevrolet is the official vehicle sponsor of Saturday's Army-Navy Game. During the game, Chevrolet will honor military service men and women, particularly its special forces. Former General Motors Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, will join retired U.S. Navy SEAL Master Chief Rick Kaiser, executive director of the National Navy SEAL Museum, to salute the special forces during the presentation of a Chevy Silverado Special Ops Concept vehicle at the game. The limited production version is expected to go on sale next spring. Chevrolet will donate a portion of the proceeds from each Special Operations Silverado sold to benefit the Navy SEAL Museum. "The partnership will also help us aid the families of fallen, injured and active duty Navy SEALs through the efforts of our Trident House and scholarship programs," said Kaiser. Founded in 1985, the museum honors the service and legacy of the U.S. Navy SEALs. Located in Ft. Pierce, Fla., the museum and memorial are recognized as the birthplace of the Navy SEALs.

Chevy 'committed to marketing Bolt the right way'

Mon, Nov 2 2015

The 2015 edition of the annual AltCar Expo in Santa Monica, CA in September was a relatively quiet affair. Attendance felt light compared to previous years. But that didn't mean there wasn't something happening that might have just as big an impact on the plug-in scene as anything that's ever happened in previous years at the Santa Monica Convention Center. I say this because of what GM's Shad Balch told me about Chevy's plans to market the upcoming Bolt electric car. This is GM's next-gen electric vehicle, which will have a roughly 200-mile range and may cost about $30,000 after tax incentives (maybe). To say he's excited to start selling this car is an understatement. Set aside the obvious challenge Chevy will have with cars named both the Volt and the Bolt, especially when some languages exchange the pronunciation of the letters B and V. Set aside the fact that, for now, Balch is dealing with his own company actively advertising against the product he's trying to get people excited about. Balch, GM's manager of new product and public policy communications, is tremendously positive about the Bolt's chances in the marketplace when it arrives in 2017 or 2018. "Driving an EV is, in every proof point, better than a gas-powered car, except for charging." - Shad Balch AltCar and the concurrent National Drive Electric Week represented the Bolt's West Coast debut, and Balch told me that the car's arrival in California shows how "Detroit recognized that they need to send it out to their number one market." The car's appearance outside of the Motor City was "The most encouraging part for us out here, being in the market ... to be able to explain that we are committed to marketing this car the right way. ... We're trying to make that known as much as possible, because that is the number one criticism that we hear. That's why events like these are so important, because we can't wrap up into a 30-second spot what these cars are capable of. I can't even explain it to you in 10 minutes what it's like. But the thing is, driving an EV is, in every proof point, better than a gas-powered car, except for charging." Now, there's a fairly decent chance that GM will hit the 250,000-vehicle limit for the $7,500 federal tax incentive right about when the Bolt comes to market, so I had to ask how the Bolt gets marketed if the price tag jumps up a few thousand dollars. Balch was straightforward. "Well, we would sell fewer cars," he said. "It's pure and simple. ...
