Presented by American Muscle Car Recovery

Up for sale is one 1968 El Camino, a true american classic. An icon of American muscle car history. This 1968 El Camino is an original California car and still retains the original California black plates, they are both in great shape. Being a true California original, there is no rust issues to deal with whatsoever. 1968 El Camino still retains all of its original sheet metal as well. The floors, frame, quarter (bed) panels, doors, fenders, upper-lower cowl and firewall are all intact and rust free as it rolled of the assembly line in 1968. This 1968 El Camino has one of the cleanest original beds that you will find. Many of these were actually used for hauling loads and really show the effects of such use. This one is in excellent condition! This 1968 El Camino comes with a just plain nasty 383 cubic inch Chevy stroker engine. It is a full roller engine with a very impressive list of components. Down below spins a Scat crankshaft, Eagle Connecting rods, Ross pistons all tied together with A.R.P bolts. Inside side is a Crane cam with a full roller valve train. Chevy ported and polished cylinder heads fed by an Edelbrock tunnel ram intake topped off by a pair of Holley 450 carburetors. A shotgun style ram air scoop on top just looks mean! The engine starts with a new summit high torque starter and a new battery. Cooling is performed by a new 4 core aluminum cross-flow radiator and a huge electric fan. Summit fuel line system and fuel pump and fuel pressure gauge really looks fantastic. This 1968 El Camino comes with a Chevy turbo hydramatic 350 transmission with a B&M shift kit and a 2800 rpm stall speed converter. Both the engine and transmission were assembled early 2012 and perform flawlessly. The rearend is the stock 10 bolt unit original to the car. This 1968 El Camino was ordered from the factory with power brakes, power steering and air conditioning. The ac unit has been removed from the car. Entire interior of this car is brand new. Seats are by Procar, 5 point harnesses are by RCI and G-force. Equipped with AutoMeter gauges and a B&M shifter as well. Comes with a nice chrome fire extinguisher as seen in the pictures. This 1968 El Camino is very street-able. Starts instantly and is just a thrill to drive. Despite its looks, the engine idles fine thanks to the stall speed converter. All lights and wiring are working and in good order. Even the key buzzer and cigarette lighter still function. This 1968 El Camino has one of the best sound systems that I have ever heard installed in a vehicle. It is truly amazing to hear and feel! Alpine head unit, 3- 10" Zeus subwoofers and twin amps all tucked away in a custom enclosure behind the seat. This 1968 El Camino rolls on polished Weld wheels and new BF Goodrich tires. Has Yokohama's in the front. Turns heads everywhere it goes! Please bid with confidence as we have a 100% feedback rating and we here at AMCR intend to keep it that way.

Chevy finishes restoration of damaged 1 millionth Corvette

Fri, Sep 4 2015

When a sinkhole at the National Corvette Museum devoured eight, rare examples of the iconic American sports car last year, some of the victims emerged better than others. While damaged, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 Blue Devil was able to drive out under its own power, making for a fairly straightforward restoration. Meanwhile, the one-millionth 'Vette came out looking like a pancake. Bringing the convertible back to perfection has taken four months and 1,200 man-hours, but the milestone car is finally on display again. After being a brief exhibit at the National Corvette Museum, the millionth 'Vette was moved to the General Motors Design Center. There, a 30-person team started on the difficult restoration. "When we disassembled it, we found that each employee involved in building it had signed a part of the car, which was fantastic and moving to see," said GM executive Mark Reuss. Therefore, the team tried to retain as many original parts as possible. The damage was extensive, and repairs included straightening the front sub-frame damage, patching the seats, and carefully restoring the dashboard pad to maintain the signatures below. The hood, front fascia, and side sills were replaced with parts from a donor vehicle. To keep the 'Vette perfect, the team scanned the names and put them on the new components. In one case, they even went back to an original employee to sign a replacement part. Surprisingly, the engine and transmission were fine. With the work done, the National Corvette's Museum's revived exhibit is nearly complete. Five of the other cars aren't being restored, and the museum is bringing the 1962 Corvette back to life.
Your browser does not support iframes.
Chevrolet Fulfills 1 Millionth Corvette Restoration Pledge Sinkhole-damaged milestone returns to National Corvette Museum 2015-09-03 BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After more than four months and 1,200 man-hours of painstaking craftsmanship, restoration of the milestone 1 millionth Corvette – a white 1992 convertible – is complete. It was unveiled today at the National Corvette Museum, where it returns as part of the permanent exhibit. The car was damaged on Feb. 12, 2014, when it and seven other rare Corvettes tumbled into a sinkhole that opened beneath the museum's Skydome area. Chevrolet pledged to restore it.

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro starts at $26,695

Fri, Aug 21 2015

Parking the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in your driveway will cost $26,695, including the $995 destination charge. That's a cut from $27,000 for the same trim on a 2015 Camaro. If you prefer a V8 under the hood, then the base 1SS goes for $37,295, compared to $34,500 for that model currently. The 2016 Camaro is offered as a coupe and convertible in four trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, and 2SS. The LT is available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque or a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 hp and 284 lb-ft. The SS gets a 6.2-liter V8 with 455 hp and 455 lb-ft. The first examples arrive before the end of the year, but droptops and the turbo engine don't materialize until the first quarter of 2016. Base models come with tech like Chevy's MyLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, and multiple driving modes. The RS Package adds to the style with 20-inch wheels, HID headlights, LED taillights, a different grille insert, and rear spoiler. Opting for the SS brings a more aggressive exterior look, plus performance upgrades like Brembo brakes, differential and transmission coolers, and a limited slip differential on those with a manual gearbox. Upgrading to the 2SS adds amenities like heated and ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, a Bose stereo, rear cross-traffic alert, and Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert. Options like a Magnetic Ride Control suspension and dual-mode exhaust offer additional sportiness. Reading about the 2016 Camaro is nice, but Chevy now has a visualizer for the pony car. It's not quite a full configurator but lets you check out different colors, wheels, and stripes to imagine your future purchase. Enjoy finding just the right combo.
