Up for auction is a 1967 Chevy Chevelle Malibu.  The car is a survivor with an upgraded drivetrain.  The car is in very good condition for its age has had one repaint in the late 70's/early 80's so there is nothing hiding under a fresh paintjob like.   many older muscle cars that are for sale.  The good news about a car with an older paintjob like this is that you know what you are getting because nothing will stay hidden under paint for 30+ years.  All of the glass is good and all of the windows roll up and down like they should.  The car has been very well cared for its entire life and was stored in a garage and was off the road from the early 80's until 2006.  The car is turqoise with turqoise interior which is a very attractive color combo. The interior is all original and does show some wear from normal use but is in amazing conidition considereing its age.  There are no rips or tears in the seats and the dash has not been cut or modified in any way.   The car has a 502 BBC with a turbo 400 transmision and a 12 bolt rear.  The 502 has Merlin heads, Comp Cams hydraulic roller camshaft,  Crane roller rockers, Edelbrock Vic Jr. aluminun intake, Carb Shop 950cfm 4150 Carb, MSD billet distributor, and MSD 6al2 ignition.  The engine has 9:5 to 1 compression and runs great on pump gas and is 100% streetable.  The turbo 400 is freshly rebuilt and it has a new PTC performance torque converter.  The 12 bolt rear has Moser axles, new Posi traction unit and 3.73 gears.  The body is very straight.  The floorpans are original and clean with no rust.  The frame is clean with no rot, rust or flaking.  The bottom of the doors are solid and rustfree as are the rockers.  The wheelwell lips are in very condition and have no rust. The area around the windows are good and solid.  The paint is over 30 years old and there is some lacquer checking in the paint and some areas where the paint is pulling away from the edges.  The car has a Glastek fiberglass cowl induction hood.  The hood bolts on just like factory and the hood accepts the factory latch.  There are some minor rust areas in the normal areas and I included pictures of those areas. There is also some rust in the trunk floor where moisture was trapped under the trunk mat at some point in its life.  The entire trunk floor will not need to be replaced but it will require some patches.  The bottom side of the trunk floor is clean.    The car will not need any panel replacement but will require some small repairs when it is repainted but the car still looks good and useable as is.  The car has been very well cared for and is in far better than average condition for car of its age.  Its getting harder to find Chevelles like this one that are not rusted out or abused.  I will be happy to take pictures of any specific areas of the car for potential buyers and I do have a short walk around video that I can email or text anyone interested.  I have the reserve set at a very reasonble price so bid to win.  I will be happy to work with a buyer to help with shipping but the shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. Thanks for taking a look at my auction and good luck!

On Jan-25-14 at 16:46:17 PST, seller added the following information:

I did have someone send me a message and say that they thought the bottom of the front seat has been recovered at some point in its life.  That is very possible and I wanted to post this up just to make I am as honest as possible about the car.

I also had some questions about the trim tag on the firewall.  The trim tag is original and still attached to the firewall and in good condition.  I can get a pic of the trim tag if anyone is interested.  Thanks

GM: Without LG Chem, we couldn't build Bolt EV [UPDATE]

Wed, Oct 21 2015

It's absolutely no surprise that General Motors has a thing for LG Corp. The Detroit automaker and the Korean parts supplier have been working in public on electric vehicles ever since it was announced that LG Chem would supply the battery cells for the Chevy Volt in 2009. LG Chem was even named GM's 2010 Supplier of the Year. But, yesterday, the connection between the two companies was strengthened with the announcement that LG Electronics would be supplying a number of components for the upcoming Chevy Bolt electric vehicle. The Bolt is expected to be able to go about 200 miles and will carry a price tag of about $30,000 (after incentives) when it arrives in 2017 or so. LG's new components can be found almost everywhere in the Bolt. They include the battery pack and the battery heater, a new motor, the power inverter module, the electric climate control system compressor, the on-board charger, high-power distribution module, the accessory power module, and power line communication module. Oh, and then there are LG Electronics' advanced display technologies like the new instrument cluster and a new infotainment cluster. LG Electronics also supplies parts for the 4G LTE OnStar system, just like it does in other new Chevys. If that all sounds like a lot of components to you, you're right. Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, said that without the expanded relationship with LG, GM would not be able to bring the Bolt to market (insert old ironic quote link here). "I think GM was lacking that [electrification knowledge] in a very complete way for many years, I'll just be frank about that," Reuss said. "I also think that on an electrified basis, this requires a long-term commitment and trust that sometimes is violated on a more short-term, regular, traditional basis. I think we have found something completely different with LG and I think that has become a widely talked about and duplicated want from our purchasing and corporate standpoint with our supply base." The "this" that Reuss is talking about here is the OEM-supplier relationship, something has evolved with the LG-GM situation. Previously, the automaker-supplier relationship used to be more like a dictator telling underlings what he needed, Reuss said, and that was a bad idea. "Today's competitive landscape requires a different approach, especially in electrified vehicles," he said.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro: Everything we know so far [UPDATE]

Fri, May 15 2015

UPDATE: We fully expect the floodgates to open as facts and photos leak throughout the day. Watch this space for more information as it breaks, including these leaked photos, and some new powertrain speculation. Chevrolet has made a grand production of teasing the all-new, sixth-generation Camaro. That slow trickle will become a deluge this weekend, when the 2016 model hits the stage on Detroit's Belle Isle as part of an all-day Camaro-palooza. Considering you're likely to hear plenty about the next-gen muscle car in the next couple days, we figured now is the perfect time to sort out all the facts and rumors we've heard about the next-generation coupe that's coming this weekend. Here's everything we know about Camaro Six. What Will It Look Like? Arguably the easiest Camaro question to answer after all the teasers and spy shots, General Motors' design team favored evolving the current car's retro design language while retaining the same basic shape. The long hood will carry on, joined by an even shorter, wing-topped rear deck, giving the 2016 an almost fastback-like look. The greenhouse is still slim, but lateral visibility may improve slightly owing to the larger quarter windows. We can only hope. The rear end looks to have been rounded, while Chevy's own teaser shows off larger, more prominent taillight housings than the simple rectangular lights on today's car. Expect quad-tipped exhausts to be offered on at least one version of the Camaro. Judging by the single teaser of the car's profile, the rear haunches will be larger and more chiseled. The muscular aluminum hood and its accompanying power bulge are more heavily styled than on today's car, although it looks largely similar in terms of size. It sits atop an even slimmer upper grille that's barely big enough for Chevy's Bowtie logo, with most of the visual mass moving to the gaping lower grille. One of the more tantalizing rumors surrounding the new Camaro focuses on its roof. As evidenced in a rather bizarre round of spy photos, it almost looks like Chevy is considering a removable panel, a la Corvette Stingray. T-tops are also a distinct (and more probable, we hope) possibility. The new shape will result in a more aerodynamic car, and Chevy claims the 2016 Camaro spent 350 hours in the wind tunnel. Overall lift has apparently been cut by 30 percent, thanks partially to a new, smooth underbody panel. Chevrolet has been far less forthcoming with information on the new Camaro's cabin.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...
