2002 Chevy Cavalier / Red / Used / Inspection Good Until April 2014 on 2040-cars
Baldwinsville, New York, United States

For sale is a red 2002 chevy cavalier 4d sedan. It is being sold as is. It will need new brakes / calipers (priced around here at 400$ for parts and labor; will be significantly cheaper if you can do the work yourself) to be safe to drive again. Currently it drives just fine but there is a lot of danger in stopping it. Before you get it inspected it will need a new muffler. Struts are also going bad on it; not sure if I would bother with those though. Engine / transmission is running strong though. Also passenger side power window does not work and trunk has been sealed permanently shut, although by putting the seat forward you can still use the trunk space. Has a remote car starter and a 300$ sound system installed. The car has a lot of rust on the body and on the bottom of the vehicle. I think I am the fourth owner of this vehicle. I've been changing the oil pretty reliably on it since I got it. If you were to purchase it and fix the brakes, I could see it getting you through another winter easily. I am essentially setting the reserve for this auction at what I can get by parting it out quickly and scrapping the rest. As far as shipping goes, you can use a service to have it shipped, come pick it up yourself (we're in syracuse ny), or for the right price I might consider delivering it. I basically bought this car last march to get me through the winter here in upstate NY. It has been a dependable winter car and got me to work and home every day. It would take 400$ for me to get this car safely running again and I don't need it as I have purchased a much nicer vehicle. Also, we are in need of garage space. |

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC
Sun, 06 Oct 2013American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.
GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee
Tue, Sep 8 2015General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.
