I am moving overseas soon so I need to sell my awesome wagon. I have this listed locally and reserve the right to cancel the auction per Ebay rules if I so choose. Thanks for looking!

A 1994 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Wagon with the 350 V8 LT1 engine with 179K. True Dual Exhaust. Great condition inside and out. With 260+HP @ 5000rpm and 300 ft lbs of torque @ 3000rpm this wagon gets going!

New distributor (optispark), spark plugs and wires, transmission service, ABS block, exhaust system (from cat back), tierods, rotors, and front rotors, bearings, shocks and sway bar end links within the past year.

Decent amount of rust underneath, though it did pass VT inspection last year. Good set of tires with 1/2 life left. Nice roof rack.

3 Rows of seats. Back seats fold to create a very large cargo area. Dual action tailgate. Class 3 hitch, she'll tow up to 5000lbs. The person I bought this Caprice from towed his race car to the local track with it.

Rear wheel drive and very fast. Power everything with Cruise Control. Updated headunit with bluetooth, usb/ipod, and aux input.

20+ mpg on the highway. 22 gallon tank, buy it mostly full right now :)

2 known issues:
Oil leak at back of engine drips onto exhaust and smokes occasionally. Common with this vehicle, it's been doing it for the 20K miles i've had it..
A/C system is tight and blows cold but compressor relay is jumped to a manual switch in the cabin. Something in the pcm i was told. Also been that way since I've had it.

This is really a great ride. I have taken cross country trips, hauled tools, carried 8 people, and generally loved this vehicle. I wouldn't be selling it if I was staying. The oil has been changed every 4,000 miles or so since I've had it, yet the 'change oil' light is always on. Needs a change right now, and will need front brake pads soon. Really reliable and runs great, only needs some minor things as one would expect from a used vehicle.

Payment must be made via Paypal within 3 days of close of auction, unless other arrangements have been made specifically/locally with me.

I am willing to deliver/drive this vehicle anywhere in the lower 48. The cost for delivery would need to be agreed upon before bidding (perhaps around 50 cents a mile, 40 cents/mile over 1000 miles) I really just want someone to get this vehicle who appreciates its charm.

GM says safety is a reason it's dropping Apple CarPlay, Android Auto

Tue, Dec 12 2023

Update: GM sent us a statement as a follow-up to its original comments seen in this post: "We wanted to reach out to clarify that comments about GM's position on phone projection were misrepresented in previous articles and to reinforce our valued partnerships with Apple and Google and each company’s commitment to driver safety. GM's embedded infotainment strategy is driven by the benefits of having a system that allows for greater integration with the larger GM ecosystem and vehicles." The original story can be read in its entirety below.   General Motors announced its intention to remove Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality from its upcoming EVs earlier this year, and internet comments sections haven't been kind since. As the first of many EVs to follow – the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV – hits the market, GM is expanding on its initial explanations for dropping the tech. Motor Trend spoke with Tim Babbit, GMÂ’s head of product for infotainment, to learn more. Attributed to Babbit, from the story: “They have stability issues that manifest themselves as bad connections, poor rendering, slow responses, and dropped connections. And when CarPlay and Android Auto have issues, drivers pick up their phones again, taking their eyes off the road and totally defeating the purpose of these phone-mirroring programs. Solving those issues can sometimes be beyond the control of the automaker.” Babbit suggests that a world without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will be a safer one, as folks wonÂ’t be looking to control their infotainment systems via their phones. However, Babbit also tells MT that this theory hasnÂ’t been tested in either the lab or the real world yet. Instead of using a navigation or music-playing app powered through your phone, upcoming GM EVs will use a Google-based infotainment system called “Ultifi” that runs a ton of integrated Google apps. Google Maps will be the native navigation app in the system; youÂ’ll be able to log in to Spotify or other apps to load your music up, and so on. The idea here is that youÂ’ll have all the same apps that were on your phone available but integrated within the infotainment system instead, and you'll be able to use voice controls to control every last bit of it with no need to reach for a phone. That sounds amenable in theory, but how consumers react to the removal of a feature that they know and love now is a risky gamble.

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

Recharge Wrap-up: Chevy teases Bolt driving range, China pursues EV subsidy cheaters

Tue, Sep 13 2016

Chevy is teasing the Bolt's driving range, which it is set to reveal on Tuesday. It will certainly be able to travel more than 200 miles between charges, but the second and third digits in that value, as it stands today, are still question marks. On its Facebook page, Chevrolet is asking fans to try to guess the official range. Of course, Tesla fans have already started posting their own snide remarks in the comments. Chevy fans are certainly hoping to see the Bolt's range eclipse that of Tesla's upcoming Model 3, which the California-based automaker puts at 215 miles. See Chevy's post on Facebook to make your own guess, or check back there (or here at AutoblogGreen) for the official number once it is unveiled. Fuel cell company PowerCell Sweden says it has signed an agreement with a Chinese company to make range extenders for commercial trucks. The unnamed Chinese customer has placed an order and signed a memorandum of understanding with PowerCell Sweden, and the partners will develop methanol reformer fuel cell range extenders for electric distribution trucks. "Our unique expertise in fuel cells and reformer technology is receiving an increasing attention worldwide and we are truly pleased to get another Chinese order," says PowerCell Sweden Sales Director Andreas Boden. Read more at Green Car Congress, or from PowerCell. China is accusing major automakers of violating EV subsidy rules. After the country's Ministry of Finance penalized five companies with fines and, in one case, revocation of production license for subsidy cheats, China has since named 20 more potential violators, including Nissan, Hyundai, JAC, and a subsidiary of BYD. Of the first five companies to be punished under the investigation, Suzhou Gemsea Coach Manufacturing is having its production license revoked, while four others, including a subsidiary of Chery, are being fined for about half of the subsidies received. The scandal is bad new for China's subsidy program, which has helped spur sales of plug-in vehicles. Read more from Fortune, or at Hybrid Cars.
