Up for auction is a 1968 Chevrolet Caprice. I bought this car in 1996 from the original owner and spent 2 years performing a complete body on restoration. This car has lived in a garage since completion, only coming out for an occasional car show. Vehicle has 71,776 original miles. I hate to have to sell it, but I just don't have the time to really enjoy it anymore.

The body was restored and painted in PPG Passion Red basecoat/clear coat. Rechromed front and rear bumper. It has a black Caprice cloth interior. Cragar Mag wheels and BF Goodrich tires were added. Front tires are 225/60R15 and rears are 275/60R15. All suspension and body bushings were replaced with PST polygraphite bushings.

The engine is a fully blueprinted 350 cubic inch 4 bolt main block that was bored out to a 355. Chevrolet Bow-Tie heads.  Engine was professionally built by Pro Motion Engines. The complete engine was built to B&M specs. The blower is a B&M Megablower which is equivalent to a 6:71. TRW L2441F turbo pistons. Forged steel crankshaft. Roller rockers. 2 Holley 0-3310 4 barrel carbs set up by the Holley Custom Shop. Mallory electric fuel pump and regulator. MSD 6-AL ignition. Fluidamper steel harmonic balancer certified SFI Spec 18.1. Autometer and VDO gauges. Hooker Super Comp Headers. Moroso extra capacity oil pan. 4 core radiator. Street Performance engine brackets

The transmission is a Turbo Hydramatic 400 that was built with the B&M Stage 2 Transpak. B&M torque converter, Hammer shifter, Super Cooler trans cooler, and extra capacity trans pan. Rear end is a GM 12 bolt rear with an Eaton Posi unit and 3.42:1 gear ratio. Rear axle  came out of a big block station wagon so it has the original 4-link control arms versus the standard Impala 3 link.  Power brakes were added as well as front power disc brakes from a 1970 Impala.

Car is in excellent condition with a laser straight body. I will disclose about the imperfections that I know about. The vinyl roof is original. The vinyl has no rips or tears and is in excellent condition. The passenger side rear pillar area has a gray stain in the vinyl that can be seen in picture. This could possibly be dyed but I never looked into it. Both rear lower corners of the back window, shows small rust bubble under the vinyl. Front grille has a small dent on the drivers side upper area. Can be seen in picture. Front grille also has 2 small corner trim pieces that are missing. Original front seat fabric has a tear in it but is covered by a quality aftermarket seat cover. Car was a factory a/c car but it has been removed due to installation of the supercharged engine.

The car is being sold AS-IS and WHERE-IS. There is no warranty. Ask all questions before bidding. The car is available for viewing in person. Additional photos available upon request. Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs. Seller reserves the right to end the auction early as vehicle is also listed for local sale. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit due through paypal within 48 hours of auction ending. Balance is due in cash or certified check. All funds must clear before vehicle and title are released. Clear New Jersey title in hand.

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.

This is your 2014 Chevrolet SS

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

Think you've waited long enough for this? If so, then you'll want to savor the high-res photos we've so far been given of the 2014 Chevrolet SS, the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from The Bowtie in 17 years.
We all know its our version of the brand new VF-model Holden Commodore, but what's under the hood that earns the appellation "performance?" A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine producing 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. That's 35 hp and lb-ft less than the same engine is expected to produce in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. Chevrolet says the sedan will get from 0-to-60 miles per hour "in about five seconds."
Shifting comes courtesy of a six-speed automatic with paddles on the steering wheel, while stopping arrive via four-piston Brembo calipers up front, a single sliding piston in back. The forged aluminum wheels are 19-inchers all around, each set supporting right around 50 percent of the sedan's weight, and the aluminum hood and trunk are meant to keep the center of gravity low.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
