I am listing my 1971 short bed project for sale. I have owned it for a few years now and have lost interest. All the parts included are good useable parts. I spent a couple of years looking for good, original parts. My goal was to use as few aftermarket parts as possible. All the sheet metal is genuine GM and in good shape. The doors and fenders have had the bodywork done on the outside. The inner parts are mostly stripped, but need a little more work to be ready to paint. I have all the inside parts for the doors- The regulators, vent windows, and door glass. I also have the rear window, but don't have a windshield. The radiator support is very solid and has no rust in the area under the battery. The hood is just as I bought it. It needs a few dings fixed, but is straight and solid. The cab is from a 1971 GMC and I do have the title to it. It had been repaired by the person I bought it from. He put in cab corners, inner and outer rockers, and he boxed in the cab mounts. He also added an A/C dash and the a/c portion of the firewall. I thought he did a pretty good job until I mounted the doors and realized the body line didn't match up. It will need another set of cab corners installed to fix this. The inside of the cab and firewall have been painted hugger orange. I have a gallon of PPG deltron DBC basecoat paint that I bought to start painting the insides of the fender, doors, hood, etc. that will be included. The bed needs some work, but it doesn't have any rust holes. one bedside has most of the bodywork done. The other side has had 2 bedsides cut in half to try to make one. It is tacked in place and needs welded up and the bodywork finished, or will just need a new bedside if you don't want to finish it. The bed floor is pretty solid, but is a little wavy and has some pitting that could turn into pinholes if you were to sandblast it. The supports underneath are solid. I have a good rust free tailgate. It is straight, but will need a few dings fixed. The chassis has been rebuilt. I took it down to a bare frame, blasted it, sprayed it with Por15, then reassembled it using the following new parts: 4 new ball joints, new control arm shafts and bushings, idler arm, pitman arm, front and rear stock height springs, two awesome used trailing arms I ordered from arizona, trailing arm bushings, brand new track arm with bushings and probably a few other things I have forgotten. The rear end is not a posi and is a 3.08 ratio. The front end needs tie rod ends to be complete. I will include all the new brake parts I have. This includes 2 front calipers, 2 rear wheel cylinders, wagner themo quiet front pads, wearever rear shoes, and all the rear brake hardware. There is a 307 engine and th350 engine bolted in. They both work, but the project is not running at this time. It basically needs everything hooked up. Includes a one piece driveshaft. I have alot of the parts needed to put it back together and will include everything I have. Some of the parts I know I am missing are the radiator, the A/C parts, inner fenders, brake lines, tie rod ends, instrument cluster, windshield, weather stripping, exhaust, bumpers, and probably a few other things I have forgotten. It has a set of 15x8 rally wheels with new take off genuine GM center caps and good original trim rings. The tires are brand new goodyears with no miles that I bought new about a year ago. Let me know if you have any questions or need any other pictures.

GM recalls 3.8 million vehicles in North America due to braking issue

Wed, Sep 11 2019

WASHINGTON — General Motors Co said Wednesday it was recalling 3.46 million U.S. pickup trucks and SUVs to address a vacuum pump issue that could make braking more difficult and that has been linked to 113 accidents and 13 injuries. The recall covers 2014-2018 model year vehicles, including some Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon vehicles. In late June, GM recalled 310,000 vehicles in Canada for the same issue. GM did not immediately explain why the Canadian recall occurred more than two months before it called back the vehicles in the United States. The recall was triggered because the amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time, GM told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in documents posted on Wednesday. The NHTSA opened a preliminary investigation into the issue last November, and said it had reports of nine related crashes and two injuries. It provided GM in July with additional field reports that prompted the automaker to open an investigation. GM said it could affect braking in "rare circumstances." The NHTSA said in a statement the "vehicles may experience brake boost failure, which would require increased brake pedal effort, leading to a hard brake pedal feel, and potentially increased stopping distance." GM said dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module to improve how the system utilizes the hydraulic brake boost assist function when vacuum assist is depleted. GM said the vacuum assist pump, which is lubricated with engine oil that flows into the pump through a filter screen, can in some cases lose effectiveness over time, as debris such as oil sludge can accumulate on the filter screen. GM told NHTSA that prior model years used a different brake assist system design, and vehicles manufactured after 2018 were not equipped with the affected pump design. Separately, GM said on Wednesday it is recalling 270,000 additional U.S. vehicles in three smaller recalls, including 177,000 2018 Chevrolet Malibu cars with 1.5L turbo engines because an error in the engine control module software may result in the fuel injectors being disabled.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV output jumps to 754 hp and 785 lb-ft

Sun, Oct 23 2022

A couple of days ago, GMC unleashed its 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 pickup, the luxury truck division's version of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. As has been the case between Chevy and GMC for decades, GMC designers worked to put ample visual difference between the two pickups that share the similar underpinnings. Unlike what's been the historical case, GMC announced output figures for the Sierra EV well above those for the Silverado. Preliminary estimates for the battery-electric Sierra with the dual-motor powertrain are 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque. Chevy revealed the 2024 Silverado EV in January with 664 hp and 785 lb-ft in RST trim. We're not sure what happened after the GMC debut, but the Bowtie has updated the Silverado's output to match the GMC with 754 hp and 785 lb-ft. Chevy truck communications spokesperson Sean Szymkowski submitted a statement to various outlets explaining, "As we prepare for production of the Silverado EV, our engineering team has further refined the estimated performance specs for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition. GM now estimates horsepower to be up to 754 and torque up to an estimated 785 lb-ft when Wide Open Watts mode is engaged." It's possible Chevrolet did so in order to forestall backlash about the disparity, or it's possible the automaker already planned to do so after the GMC dropped. On the ICE side, buyers have got used to powertrain parity, the Silverado and Sierra offering the same engines with the same outputs even with pricing about $3,600 apart on the respective top trims. No matter how the decision was made, the benefits redound to Silverado EV buyers. By the way, the "Wide Open Watts" reference refers to the driving mode required to extract these peak power figures. In the GMC Sierra EV, this is called Max Power Mode. We're still looking for clarity on the output figures in everyday driving modes, we believe those will be the same 510 hp and 615 lb-ft that's the maximum in the lower trim Silverado EV Work Truck.    With a year to wait before the Silverado RST EV reaches reservation holders, and with the Chevrolet Work Truck providing real-world feedback before the RST arrives, don't be surprised at more tweaks made to both the Silverado and Sierra EVs before they hit the market.
