This is a very nice, original pickup. It has a 350 V8,3-speed automatic, with front disc brakes. It still wears its original paint, but has been touched up in spots. The right front fender does have a small dent close to the front bumper. Very small and hardly noticed. Both box sides have some concave dents where the back bumper has touched up against the body(see pics). It appears that this truck has never been wrecked. The only rust I can find in the whole truck is an area on the drivers floor board, and drivers front lower fender(otherwise is mostly surface spots that are very minor). I have included detailed pictures of these areas. This truck is very straight. It has a decent woodbed floor considering the age. Other than the drivers side floor being rusted, the rest is very solid. The dash pad is cracked. The seat will need to be recovered. The windshield is cracked on the passenger side(see pics). The lights work decent with the exception of bad ground for taillights(work off and on), no turnsignals, as the drivers front turn signal is not installed, but do have in the cab.

I got this truck from an older gentleman who quit driving it 8 years ago on a farm. The truck had been in his family since new I was told. Between being in the family, it had been passed around to 3 people(whether the title had been re-registered, I dont know). He left the truck sitting and kept it running, as he would start it at least once a month. Since I have owned the truck, I have put a battery in it, changed the oil/oil filter/trans fluid, and made sure the other fluids were clean. I also have put new plugs, and a newer set of plug wires, air filter, header/mainfold gaskets, and has seem to run and drive good. I also have bled the brakes, and put a set of used tires on and had them balanced. I believe this to be the original drive train with the exception of headers and air cleaner. It runs smooth with no ticking or knocks. This appears to be an all-original truck that hasn't been tampered with by a bunch of different owners. The wheels are clean with original centers and beauty rings with the exception of one ring missing. The mirrors are the original ones that came on the truck(however have been painted white over chrome, but have peeled).

If you're looking for a truck to restore/customize or have as a daily driver, this is probably going to be one of the straightest bodies you'll find. I have a very low reserve on this truck. This truck title (NE title) is clear/clean and in my possession. Any interested buyer is welcome to come see the truck prior to auction end, and will also make a bill of sale in the buyer's favor. I am not offering shipping on the item, and am offering this as local pick-up only. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit via paypal within 48 hours of auction end, and the rest will be discussed with the buyer when auction ends. If you have any questions, please contact me through 'ask a question' at the top of this page. I will give out my # to anyone who asks for it. I have excellent feedback, so please bid with confidence.

Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum. U.S. new-vehicle sales in 2018 rise slightly to 17.27 million [UPDATE]

Thu, Jan 3 2019

DETROIT — Sales of new vehicles in the U.S. rose slightly in 2018, defying predictions and highlighting a strong economy. Automakers reported an increase of 0.3 percent over a year ago to 17.27 million vehicles. The increase came despite rising interest rates, a volatile stock market, and rising car and truck prices that pushed some buyers out of the new-vehicle market. Industry analysts and automakers said strong economic fundamentals pushed up sales and should keep them near historic highs in 2019. "Economic conditions in the U.S. are favorable and should continue to be supportive of vehicle sales at or around their current run rate," Ford Chief Economist Emily Kolinski Morris said after the company and other automakers announced their sales numbers Thursday. That auto sales remain near the 2016 record of 17.55 million is a testimonial to the strength of the economy, said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics. The job market, he said, has created new employment, and wage growth has accelerated. "That's fundamental to selling anything," he said. "If there are lots of jobs and people are getting bigger paychecks, they will buy more." The unemployment rate is 3.7 percent, a 49-year low. The economy is thought to have grown close to 3 percent last year, its best performance in more than a decade. Consumers, the main driver of the economy, are spending freely. The Federal Reserve raised its key interest rate four times in 2018 but is only expected to raise it twice this year. Auto sales also were helped by low gasoline prices and rising home values, Zandi said. It all means that people are likely to keep buying new vehicles this year even as they grow more expensive. The Edmunds.com auto-pricing site estimates that the average new vehicle price hit a record $35,957 in December, about 2 percent higher than the previous year. It will be harder for automakers to keep the sales pace above 17 million because they have been enticing buyers for several years now with low-interest financing and other incentives, Zandi said. He predicts more deals in the coming year as job growth slows and credit tightens for higher-risk buyers. Edmunds, which provides content, including automotive tips and reviews, for distribution by The Associated Press, predicts that sales will drop this year to 16.9 million.

Common Dodge Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado breakdowns

Wed, May 4 2016

These two trucks are famous for their ability to get the job done. Still, even the toughest vehicle can have mechanical problems at some time. What if we match the Dodge Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado head to head? Let's find out more about common repairs for each model. Also, learn some tricks to pay for car repairs. Clunky Steering Both Dodge and the Chevy owners sometimes notice bumping and clunking when steering. This might be more noticeable when driving over bumps. The cause is usually different in each truck though. In the Dodge Ram, clunky steering is more likely due to a defective lower ball joint. Replacement costs around $300 - $400, parts and labor. Clunky Chevy Silverado steering is probably a steering rack failure. This problem appears more often in trucks with over 90,000 miles. Silverado steering rack repair will run you up to $1,000 or more. Starting Woes For the Chevy Silverado with over 130,000 miles, you might notice trouble starting. This problem may appear occasionally at first, but it typically gets worse. Excluding a weak battery, the culprit is usually the starter. Replacement will cost you around $330 - $500. Of the total cost, $90 is for labor only. Now the Dodge Ram might make a ticking sound when starting, especially on models with over 94,500 miles. The noise often disappears after the engine warms up. These symptoms may indicate a broken exhaust manifold. Repair costs range from $800 - $900. Burning Oil & Gas Gauge On The Blink Sometimes, the Dodge Ram burns oil much faster than normal. In models with over 125,000 miles, this often points towards a leaky intake manifold gasket. A knocking sound may also appear with acceleration along with possible engine misfire. The cost to repair is around $200 - $300. The Chevy Silverado has its own surprises, especially when you've filled the gas tank but the gauge still reads low. Or the needle fluctuates widely from low to full while driving. In trucks with over 120,000 miles, it's likely due to a faulty fuel sensor. You might need a full fuel pump replacement, which can cost you up to $820, parts and labor. Water Inside And Poor Heat The Ram 1500 rear window has been known to leak. You might notice the back seat and floor wet after a rainstorm. This is more common in trucks with over 65,000 miles. Resealing the Ram 1500 rear window costs around $150 - $250.
