1998 Chevrolet Blazer Ls Sport Utility 4-door 4.3l 4wd on 2040-cars
Tellico Plains, Tennessee, United States

Up for auction today is a very nice example of a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer LS family utility vehicle with 4WD. The vehicle currently has just over 117k miles (that's just 7500 miles a year) which is really low considering it's 15 years old. This is a No-Reserve Auction so the highest bidder takes it home... but you better Buy-It-Now before someone else gets it!!! THE BAD: There are a few small dents no larger than a nickel on the driver's side door, right rear door, and back hatch... and a small plastic piece under the driver's side front bumper spoiler is broken off (hard to see but all are noted in the attached video). The front grill has a crack in it but it's all intact and in place (you have to look specifically for it to see it.) The plastic defrost vent in the dash for the windshield has a crack. The lever to lower the driver's seat back rest is missing, but will try to locate one locally before the end of the auction. THE GOOD: The exterior of the vehicle shows very well with a deep luster and shine in the paint and all chrome sparkles like new. Not so sure what the official name of the color is but it's a light silvery/cinnamon with velour cloth interior to match. All upholstery, carpet, and headliner are clean and stain free (floor mats even look new.) All vinyl on the doors and dash are crack free. All power windows, electric door locks, electric back hatch release, electric mirrors, compass and outside temperature gauge, stereo, buzzers, courtesy lights, tachometer, 4WD, cruise control, speedometer and dash gauges work as they should and there are no idiot lights illuminated on the dash. The vehicle even comes equipped with OnStar though currently not subscribed to. There is no rust what so ever and no cracks or chips in any of the glass. Has a towing hitch with wiring. THE BEST PART: Recent work on the vehicle includes 4 (four) new snow and mud tires- rather aggressive so there is a little road noise from the front tires at highway speeds, new wiper blades front and rear, new four wheel disc brake rotors, calipers, and pads on all four wheels... new front axle wheel bearings both sides, new front sway-bar bushing kit, new brake master cylinder, oil and filter change, A/C recharge (blows cold) and a good hand wash and wax job. In all, over $1700 in maintenance and repairs, so these are expenses you won't have to face in the future. The 4.3 liter V6 engine purrs smoothly and at 55mph only pulls 1450 rpms. The engine should last a long time at this rate and offer pretty good highway mpg to boot. With the on-dash push button 4WD hi/low range and the mud tires, be prepared to go anywhere you want. Automatic tranny shifts smoothly through all gears. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. This vehicle is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early with no notice. This vehicle is 15 years old... it's not new so don't expect it to be flawless (though you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer one.) This vehicle is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty implied. So feel free to come and look it over and take it for a test drive prior to bidding. For more information email me or call 423-253-2200 between 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily. Good luck and happy bidding.

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.
Chevrolet Malibu could last until 2024 before joining the dodo
Wed, Jul 31 2019Automotive News pieced together all available intel on the Chevrolet and GMC lineups, trying to ascertain how much life each model might have left. Concerning the Chevrolet Malibu, the answer is not too much, and the historic nameplate's final years don't look like the glory kind. After a major overhaul in 2016 boosted sales for the ninth-generation sedan to 227,881 units, the 2018 sales fell to 144,542, and this year's are down almost 15% through the end of June. The Malibu is one of two Chevrolet sedans still breathing - the other being the Impala for now - but only for about five more years. AN says there'll likely be a refresh in 2022, followed by a visit from the Reaper in 2024. After that, it could be "indirectly replaced" by an electric vehicle, one of the 23 EVs that GM is working on for 2023.   The Impala will meet the ax earlier despite a recent stay of execution. Production is still set to close in January 2020. In the entire GM stable, Cadillac might soon be the only marque with sedans. The Buick LaCrosse has a date with death, and Groupe PSA won't supply Opels-as-Regals forever. The Sonic hatchback should say goodbye at the end of 2020, a year before the seemingly eternal Spark is thought to die. Two years after that, according to one report, the Camaro will go back into cold storage, perhaps forever, and AN says an "expected redesign of the car in 2021 was reportedly canceled." Finally, let's give one final shout-out to the Chevrolet Cruze, a global nameplate, which in the United States alone outsells the Malibu, outsold the Camaro by a factor of three last year, and absolutely trounces the Impala, Sonic, and Spark. Even that couldn't get a stay of execution. In more uplifting news, everything's happening on the crossover and truck side in the next few years. The Chevy Bolt is due for a refresh next year, even though it has "become more important for self-driving ride-hailing fleets that GM Cruise plans to operate than for consumers." In 2021, the Bolt-based crossover should bow, first in China, then here. It's said to look like "a mix of the Bolt and Trax" in spy shots. Still waiting for a green light: a possible subcompact GMC crossover called Granite that might make it to market by 2023. The full-sized SUV triplets Tahoe, Suburban, and Yukon could show their new faces in 2020. The Silverado might get an updated interior in 2020 or 2021, while the Colorado and Canyon mid-sized pickups won't get attention until perhaps 2023.
