This is a very unique 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe hardtop. It is a great running 2 door hardtop, with everything original and in great condition. This car was produced in LA and is a west coast car with original patina and no rust anywhere. Not a single bubble, leak or rust hole underneath. The drive train is original as is the entire undercarriage, well maintained. The radio is not working, nor is the clock. The passenger door window has a crack and there is a small quarter sized dent in the deck lid. Other than that it is missing nothing. It is also the power option Sport Coupe with Power Steering and Power brakes. We are changing the carpet to correctly match the color scheme. We are also adding new weather-strip on both doors. The car has been fully inspected and the inspection report will go to the new owner. Nothing found mechanically to be repaired. It has just ad a tune up. As you van see from the pictures it is in very, very good shape. Check out the test drive video below.

Stock engine, and optional 2 speed trans. the 265, does have an edelbrock intake and steel braided heater lines. This car is not the 150 0r 210. It is a real Sport Coupe Hardtop with all the options. The heater works, the windshield wipers work, all of the gauges work as do the lights inside and out. it has been garage kept and maintained for many years. It is not a restored car but an original Bel Air. Dual exhaust and the paint was done about 10 years ago. It has a free and clear Nevada Title and will not last long.

Please ask questions, if you have them. It has a reserve, so please don't ask about the reserve unless you are serious and actively bidding. Terms are as follows...$500 non refundable deposit via pay pal at auction completion. The balance is due within 7 days of auction close, in cash, cashiers check, bank wire transfer o.k. Shipping is the responsibility of the new owner, but we can assist with that. The car must be picked up within 14 days of auction close, or reasonable storage can be arranged.

People ask all the time why is it being sold. This car has been enjoyed by a Bel Air lover for many years now. He is retired and wants to start traveling so it is time to let someone else enjoy it.

Good luck and thank you for looking.

A Chevy Camaro hybrid? That's what EcoCAR3 could bring

Fri, Apr 10 2015

Figuring out a way for a hybrid powertrain to co-exist with the performance expectations of a classic American muscle car is a challenge that could vex that most experienced of automotive engineers. It's a challenge, in fact, being handed to a bunch of college students. Over the next four years, students from 16 North American colleges and universities will attempt to wring fuel efficiency from a 2016 Chevy Camaro as part of EcoCAR3, an advanced-vehicle technology competition sponsored by the Department of Energy, General Motors and others. They'll be attempting to use hybrid or plug-in hybrid technology while not sacrificing the performance of the Camaro, which was selected in part because the current model achieves just 17 miles per gallon in city driving and 28 MPGs on the highway, per EPA numbers. Students will get the latest version of the vehicle to work on, one that is expected to be unveiled next month on Belle Isle in Detroit. "If we still want to produce V8 Camaros, we're going to have to look at alternative methods of propulsion," said Al Oppenheiser, the chief engineer on the Camaro. "So the ideas that these college teams come up with could very easily be adapted to a car like the Camaro." Unlike similar competitions that reward fuel efficiency in vehicles, EcoCAR seeks those gains while emphasizing cost and consumer acceptance of these vehicles. The cars shouldn't look like experiments; they should look like everyday vehicles on the road. Previous competitions have allowed the teams to use whatever powertrain they desired. This time, EcoCAR officials designed the competition to concentrate on hybrid, hybrid-electric and diesel options. Competitors won't have the option of using hydrogen fuel cells as they have in the past. Last year, a team from Colorado State built a vehicle that contained both hydrogen and electric power sources. This year's limit is a curious choice, as some automakers such as Toyota have placed heavy bets on fuel cells in recent years. General Motors also runs a fuel-cell program. With the focus on cost and practicality, however, the program officials wanted to narrow the framework of the contest. "We always have some good decisions on what to make within the scope or out of scope," said Jim Kolhoff, global director of software engineering for General Motors.

Stolen '79 Vette finds home at Dream Cruise [w/video]

Mon, Aug 17 2015

After over three decades of waiting, George Talley finally has his 1979 Chevrolet Corvette back, and it's as good as new. The coupe was stolen off of a Detroit street in 1981, but last year Talley received a call that the 'Vette was found in Mississippi. General Motors Executive Vice President Mark Reuss heard the touching story and had the automaker help get the car back to the Motor City. Now after a restoration by the GM Heritage Center and Autometric Body Shop, Talley got the keys to his Corvette back during the Woodward Dream Cruise. When Autoblog spoke to him after the coupe was returned last year, Talley said that the first thing he wanted to do with it was, "I think I'm going to cruise Belle Isle." We hope he enjoys the drive because the experience is a long time coming. You can watch Talley's excited reaction to see his newly refurbished 'Vette for the first time in the video below. Stolen Corvette Reunion and Restoration on Display at Woodward Dream Cruise 2015-08-14 DETROIT – George Talley's 1979 Corvette was stolen 33 years ago and recovered last year in Mississippi. General Motors executives, who heard of the recovery, offered to bring the car back home to Mr. Talley and restore it on his behalf. The GM Heritage Center, in conjunction with Autometric Body Shop in Center Line, Mich., took on the restoration project. Talley got an opportunity to see the progress ahead of its official reveal at the Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday. Founded in 1911 in Detroit, Chevrolet is now one of the world's largest car brands, doing business in more than 115 countries and selling around 4.8 million cars and trucks a year. Chevrolet provides customers with fuel-efficient vehicles that feature engaging performance, design that makes the heart beat, passive and active safety features and easy-to-use technology, all at a value. 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Convertible offers a few more views before reveal

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Over the weekend, Chevrolet released its first images of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Now, ahead of the droptop's official introduction tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show, the automaker has given us a few more shots of the softop C7 showing off the car's rump albeit from a high, strategically positioned angle.
From this angle, it's hard to get a sense for how long and flat the decklid really is, but we can easily see that, like the rest of the C7's design, the new convertible's decklid and tonneau cover are far more detailed than the current car. We also get a better look at the rear haunches sans brake vents, which have apparently been moved to underneath the car in order to accommodate the top's hard cover.
As for the overall styling of the C7 convertible, with the top erected, we get some idea of what a coupe design (as opposed to the Stingray's fastback shape) would look like on this car. The C5 Corvette most recently had a coupe model that did away with the large glass hatchback, and we recently reported on a low-cost "coupe" model potentially being added to the C7's repertoire.
