Up for auction is my 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham.  I purchased this car in 2009 and drove it daily for my short commute of 5 miles a day.  I got a new car so this one has to go.  Overall I think it would be a nice "doorslammer" car to run around in or restore it.  It has the powerful LT1 motor made famous for its use in corvettes.  With a little work this might be a nice car for someone.  This is a true auction someone will win this auction NO RESERVE bidding starts at a penny do not bid if you don't want it.  The car is located in Springwater NY 14560 no shipping you pick up.  This car is nearly 20 years old absolutely as is no warranty expressed or implied.

Mechanically: It needs a new electronic distributor (electrospark) module.  It is the box that the spark plugs come out of on the front of the motor.  There is a large amount of white corrosion residue on the box and the car is starting hard especially after it rains.  I cannot guarantee it will start or run well upon arrival due to this.  You will most likely need to have this car transported to your location.   The motor always has run strong (except for what I have stated) and consumes no oil.  My mechanic is confident that replacing this part will bring the motor back to running strong.  I guess it is like a $250 part.  Also the transmission will shift hard from first into second gear when the car is cold, when it is warmed up it shifts nice.  Also on the transmission when you shift you have to wait about 3 seconds then the transmission will engage it always does this regardless of car being hot or cold.  It has done this since I have owned it.  This has been this way since I bought it.  The air conditioner stopped blowing cold and I have detected green spew on the bottom of the a/c compressor so it probably puked its seals and will need a new a/c compressor.  The windshield wiper motor will stop working intermittently (may need a wiper motor or it may be a wire gremlin).  The air ride system is currently not working probably has holes in the air bags as the compressor motor would run incessantly so the motor was disabled.  Has nice all weather tires that are better than 50% It has a heavy duty napa legend battery replaced new in november 2012

Exterior:  The exterior paint appears to be original overall not bad looking from 20 feet away just my opinion.  There is heavy fade to plastic bumper covers and some fade overall.  Lots of scratches and a dime sized surface rust spot on driver side of hood.  The soft top is presentable in my opinion but is really showing its age with small uv cracks really starting to open up.  Some window seal trim is starting to peel away some small general trim pieces missing here and there.  Some of the chrome is hanging on by a thread.  Some surface corrosion spots forming on the chrome trim.  Very low amount of corrosion overall. The underside of this car is pretty darn clean in my opinion seen very few winter miles.

Interior:  The interior shows some wear but is very presentable in my opinion for the age of the car.  The transmission shift indicator on column stopped working so I count the clicks when shifting to make sure I am in the right spot.  Below the steering column the trim piece is broken.  The dash pad is heavily cracked.  The heated leather seat on the driver side has stopped getting hot but the passenger one works like a champ.  Cigarette lighter works when it wants to.  The back windows do not go up or down might be unplugged might be worse been this way since I owned it.

It also has nearly a full tank of gas nearly $100 worth of gas in it.

GM recalls half-million full-size SUVs to address seatbelt issue

Tue, Aug 16 2022

GM is recalling its redesigned full-size SUV models to address improperly riveted mounts securing the third-row seatbelts that may fail in the event of an accident. The population includes the 2021-2022 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, 2021-2022 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and 2021-2022 model year GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, for a total of 484,155 vehicles. "Operators at the supplier’s manufacturing plant may have not properly followed manufacturing processes and inadvertently missed the rivet forming operation," GM said in its defect report to NHTSA. "In certain of these vehicles, the rivet that retains the buckle to the mounting bracket in the left or right side third-row seatbelt buckle assembly may not have been properly formed during the manufacturing process. If the third-row seatbelt assembly is not properly riveted, it may not properly restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury." Fortunately, the fix is relatively simple. GM service technicians will inspect the rivets on the rear seatbelt buckle assemblies and replace the entire unit if the rivets are not to spec. Dealer notifications have already been distributed; owners should receive notice start in September. Related video: Cadillac Chevrolet GM GMC Ownership Safety SUV

New V6 engines are only the start at Cadillac

Fri, Mar 20 2015

Cadillac debuted its new family of V6 engines Friday, but that's not all General Motors' luxury brand has in store for the coming years. The six-cylinder powerplants will certainly help Cadillac in the near term, but they're just two of the many parts of the company's future strategy. GM has invested $12 billion in Cadillac to help the brand grow over the next five years, and the company will launch eight new products between now and 2020. That all starts with the launch of the CT6 flagship later this year – a fullsize luxury sedan we'll see for the first time in New York on March 31. The CT6 will introduce several new features and technologies to the Cadillac range, and with its launch also begins the slow restructuring of Cadillac's model-naming system. The new nomenclature means CT and XT badges for cars and utilities, respectively. Cadillac says that of the eight new vehicles it plans to launch by 2020, five of them will be first-time offerings in market segments where the brand currently does not play. But it's not just about new products – new powertrains are an important part of the Cadillac story, too. After the new V6 engines – a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter and a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter engine – launch later this year in the 2016 ATS, CTS and CT6, the company says it has a strategy for V8 power – possibly a twin-turbo application – as well as future electrification. Cadillac also says it's working on adding four- and six-cylinder diesel powertrains, though it's unclear which vehicles will make use of those engines. This new six-cylinder engine family is indeed important, with Cadillac's chief engineer, David Leone, calling it the "most advanced V6 in the industry." With 335 horsepower, the 3.6-liter engine is the highest output, naturally aspirated V6 powerplant Cadillac has done – and that's SAE-certified, and on regular fuel. Beyond that, the 3.0-liter mill (pictured at right) marks the first application of GM's active fuel management system on a twin-turbocharged engine. This means that when full power isn't necessary, the TTV6 can run as a 2.0-liter V4 in order to save fuel. New transmissions are also part of the V6 engine story. GM's all-new eight-speed Hydra-Matic 8L45 gearbox will be paired to the 3.6-liter V6, and the 3.0-liter TTV6 will use the company's existing 8L90 transmission that is already found in the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups (with the 6.2-liter engine).

Johan responds to critics again about Cadillac's NY move

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Cadillac's new President Johan de Nysschen has faced a fair amount of criticism since assuming his position at the head of the American luxury manufacturer. From the company's move to New York City to a controversial new naming scheme, the first few months of his tenure have not been smooth sailing. Now, the embattled exec is firing back against his critics, notably Automotive News Editor-in-Chief Keith Crain, in a new column running in AN.
De Nysschen countered Crain's claim that the move to the Big Apple, "can only mean that someone wants to live in New York."
"The relocation decision is entirely unrelated to the personal living preferences of any Cadillac executive. No corporation would tolerate such indulgence by its leadership," de Nysschen wrote. "It is about structurally entrenching a challenge to the status quo by reinforcing the psychological and physical separation in business philosophy between the mainstream brands and GM's luxury brand."
