Men want to talk to you, women take your picture, kids are in awe. Seriously! This car is the BOMB! First, it's beautiful. The color is mesmerizing. Far superior to any other standard GM color I've seen on this vehicle. Second, it purrs like a kitten. About $40k has has gone into this restoration. It is reliable as hell. I've never had a problem with the engine or drive train. Engine and tranny was completely rebuilt at 87,791 miles. Currently there is 105, 212 on the ODO. I always keep my eye on what's selling in this category and this car, this quality, is right at the top. I drove it to NY and back last summer. Didn't skip a beat! Nothing like gliding down the highway in this. Talk about attention! Make me an offer!"

You'll see alot of 60's vintage Cadys out there and and believe me, they are NOT all equal - even though they may be in the same zone pricing wise. This car is the top of the heap in the driver class of classic cars. $40,000 has gone into this restoration. It runs great and is very solid. There are no uneven motor sounds or anything coming from the engine that would lead you to have pause. It's simply a great car. Here is a list of the major improvements, for which I have all the receipts.

Engine rebuilt
Transmission rebuilt
Engine rewired
Carburator rebuilt
Premium radial tires
New Top, rear window
New motor, lines and hydrolic pistons for top
New nylon interior. In 1964, there were 143 different interior combinations
Genuine GM After market AC that blows nice and cold. Compressor designed specifically for this add on.
New brakes
New floors
New paint. Bumpers, chrome, doorhandles, everything was removed, body sanded down to bare metal, any surface rust was removed, then primed and painted with original GM color specs.
New front and back speakers
The list goes on.
The car, as nice as it is, is not perfect, of course, otherwise I'd be asking $80,000 instead of $19,500. There is a very slow leak in the power steering gearbox, around one of the seals. I add about 1 ounce of fluid about once a month. At some point you may want to replace this, but if you don't, just keep some power steering fluid in the trunk, hell, the old gal's 50, and wants to make you happy for under 20 grand! You should be in such good shape at that age!  Also, the radio recently stopped working and there are the "to be expected" blemishes here and there.

Cadillac plans to keep its Manhattan ZIP code, shunning Detroit

Thu, Jun 7 2018

Johan de Nysschen is credited for separating Cadillac from the GM nest in Detroit, but despite his ouster earlier this year, the luxury division says it will remain headquartered in New York City's tony SoHo district. "It's 100 percent that we're staying here, that was never a question," Cadillac spokesman Andrew Lipman told the Detroit Free Press. Cadillac in April announced that it was replacing de Nysschen, after four years running the flagship brand. The new brand boss, Steve Carlisle, previously was president and managing director of GM Canada. De Nysschen led a big push to separate the luxury brand from its parent company as a separate business unit, announcing the move to New York in 2014 as a way to gain more autonomy and better tap into the global luxury zeitgeist. The move was controversial at the time in some quarters, though Lipman told the Freep that GM brass made the decision to relocate Cadillac to the Big Apple months before de Nysschen arrived at the company. Cadillac now occupies the 15th and 16th floors of a high-rise building on Hudson Street in SoHo, where it has between 140 and 150 employees. It also operates a ground-floor retail space called the Cadillac House where it displays cars, operates a coffee shop and stages events, including with fashion designers. Its vehicles are still designed and engineered back in the Detroit area, however. "The amount of time people spend at Cadillac House has been increasing, and it's become a destination," Lipman said. Cadillac used this year's New York Auto Show to reveal its new 2019 XT4 compact crossover, its second offering in the all-important luxury crossover segment after the XT5. It goes on sale this fall. Cadillac CT4 and CT5 high-performance V cars spied

Mon, Dec 16 2019

This summer, Cadillac teased much more impressive V-series models than the lukewarm CT4-V and CT5-V. Now we get a better look at both super sedans, each one boasting more aggressive, but subtle visual upgrades. Normally we would talk about the visual changes to each car individually, but the changes are nearly identical between the cars. They both get deeper chin spoilers and lower side skirts. The lower grille opening now features slatted sections on either end. The headlights, main grille and hood all look unchanged from the regular V models. The same goes for the rear bumpers and tailpipes. The rear spoilers on both are much taller, though. The wheels on the CT4 look about the same as the CT4-V, but the CT5 wheels look a bit different with more detail. We also get a good look at the wheel-filling brakes. Cadillac hasn't said anything concrete about the specifications of the hotter CT4 and CT5 models, except that they'll definitely be faster than the revealed V models. One thing we do know, thanks to our spy photographer's video from earlier this year (shown above), the CT5 will get a V8. Our bet is on it being the Blackwing twin-turbo V8 that's available in the CT6-V and CT6 Platinum. It would probably have at least the same output at the CT6-V at 550 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. Expect the 10-speed automatic transmission to carry over with it. This drivetrain would also open up the possibility of all-wheel drive. As for the fast CT4, it could potentially revive the ATS-V's twin-turbo V6 with 464 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. It would probably also get a 10-speed automatic and maybe all-wheel drive as an option.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
