for sale a nice old cadillac deville, black with grey leather interior. it has 52030 miles. i bought a new cadillac in 2011 and it has now 3000 miles on it. i thought i might drive the old one, but i have no started it since september 18 ,2012 until yesterday. it started right up. you have to pump the foot feed for it to start. anyway, the insurance is coming due on it and i don't need it, nor do i need the other either. i have an escalade that i put 56 miles on last year. i am a veterinarian of over 40 years and still practice 5.5 days a week and have a fairly large cattle herd and farms. i drive my pickup 99 percent of the time. anyway, i hate to part with this old sweetheart, but it is time for it to go. it starts and runs well. the last time i drove it i went to columbia, mo. which is about 120 miles from home. on the way back, i thought the transmission might be slipping. anyway, when i drove it yesterday it seemed fine, but i think the transmission may need work. it has a very slow leak in the transmission and i have to add about a pint or so of fluid every year. the last time i had it serviced, i had them check for a leak and check the transmission. the fella that did the work indicated that i probably needed to replace the front pump on the transmission. at any rate, although the transmission seemed fine yesterday when i drove it, i would want who ever buys it, to either haul or tow it, as i would not want them to have a problem in driving it a long way. the tires probably have less than 1000 miles on them, i really forget when i put them on, but it has not been driven much since then. the gas gauge doesn't work, probably a fuse, and the shirt arm does not move the line for the gear you are in. you have to just feel where you are when in goes in gear. that quite a year or two ago, maybe more, i would imagine it is an easy fix, but i didn't care. the a/c works fine, however there is a short in the switch which i could never find, so i have a toggle switch to turn it on and off, otherwise it will run the battery down. anyway, don't much else to say about it. hope the pictures do the talking. i see this model cadillac on ebay is priced from 3-30K mine is better than many of them but i going to start it at 2250.00. i don't want to renew the insurance and buy license for something i probably won't ever drive again. by the way, it has been kept in the garage until about 2012 when i got the new one and since then it has been outside. it really needs to be inside for protection of the vinyl top i think but it is still in perfect shape as far as i can tell. good luck.

Cadillac moving back to Detroit after four years in New York City
Wed, Sep 26 2018After four years in New York City, The Wall Street Journal reports that Cadillac is moving its headquarters back to Detroit. This comes about four months after former head Johan de Nysschen was ousted from the automaker for a variety of reasons, including slumping sales and a product line not in concert with consumer tastes. It's also months after a Cadillac spokesperson told The Detroit Free Press that "It's 100 percent that we're staying [in New York City], that was never a question." Let's be clear about this, the move to New York was not Cadillac's biggest issue. As contributing editor James Riswick reminded us this morning, "the decision to sell three similarly sized large sedans, a variety of obsessive BMW-fighting cars, and only one crossover was not done while they were in New York." That was all planned years ago, before de Nysschen ever joined the company. He may not have righted the ship, but he didn't set it on its course. Note that the XT4, Caddy's second crossover after the SRX-replacing XT5, is just now hitting the market. The move to Manhattan was meant to give Cadillac more autonomy and put its leadership in a place where they could get a sense of what a luxury car buyer wants and needs. Detroit is great, but it can be an echo chamber, especially in a company as large and storied as General Motors. The problem is that Cadillac still relies heavily on Detroit and that poor communication was slowing development, according to the report. Steve Carlisle, a long-time GM employee, took over the brand after de Nysschen was let go. He and more than 100 others work in New York. Related Video:
2017 Cadillac XT5 cuts weight, adds room over SRX [UPDATE]
Mon, Nov 9 2015UPDATE: This post has been updated with a full set of official photos. Impressions on the interior and exterior have also been added. The attention of Cadillac fans may be focused on the new CT6 sedan, but the most important new vehicle in the New York-based company's quiver might be the all-new XT5. Cadillac officially unveiled the SRX replacement today ahead of its full debut in Los Angeles next week. Short for Crossover Touring 5, the new XT5 drops 278 pounds over the old SRX, while offering an extra 3.2 inches of interior space. The XT5's face balances the best parts of the Escalade and CT6's fascias, with a strong egg-crate grille and prominent LED accent lights. It looks good scaled to a vehicle of this size. The taillights curve up and over the rear haunches, which feed into a strong shoulder line that runs towards the front of the car. It's a solid look, and one we're looking forward to seeing in person. The interior looks very, very nice, with warm leather and wood trimmings. The steering wheel, with its large, central wood accent, looks remarkably good. In fact, it might be one of our favor parts, if only because it's such a bold piece of design. We aren't crazy about the sheer abundance of buttons on the wheel, though. All four spokes are covered, and it just looks kind of cluttered. As is the trend nowadays, the center console features a floating bridge design with plenty of storage space underneath. Our early impression of the leather-wrapped dash is positive, although as is so often the case, we need to get a hands on before rendering a final judgment. There are no major surprises under the hood. Like the current SRX, the XT5 utilizes the same 3.6-liter V6 as the CTS and ATS sedans. Start/stop has been fitted, which should provide a boost in fuel economy although no mileage figures have been published yet. Cadillac will also offer a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder XT5, although for reasons that aren't clear, it's only for the Chinese market. This seems like a misstep in our eyes, considering the XT5 will challenge the likes of the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Mercedes-Benz GLC – all of which offer four-cylinder turbos. With the V6, the XT5 delivers 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. While there's more total horsepower than the Lexus, Audi, or BMW, the 3.6 still faces a torque deficiency versus the turbocharged X3 xDrive35i or supercharged Audi V6. The XT5 has a standard eight-speed automatic transmission.
GM recalls 740,000 vehicles over daytime running light issue
Wed, Dec 14 2022General Motors is recalling over 740,000 vehicles due to a daytime running light issue that causes all of the affected cars to run afoul of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Vehicles affected by this recall are spread across many of GM’s brands. Models include the 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5, 2021-2023 Buick Envision, 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, 2022-2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe and 2022-2023 GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL. GM says that the daytime running lights may remain on in these cars when the headlights are activated. This is a problem, because FMVSS rules require that the daytime running lights deactivate once the headlights turn on. If the DRLs remain on, GM says that could result in additional glare, thereby increasing the risk of an accident. The cause of this failure to deactivate the DRLs comes from body control module software that “under a combination of certain pre-conditions, could fail to deactivate the DRLs,” according to GM. Other GM vehicles were tested, but due to a difference in software or hardware, they remain unaffected. If this is reminding you of another recent GM recall, youÂ’d be right, as GM recalled another 340,000 vehicles for the same issue last month. After that original issue was found within GM, the company began looking into its other cars to determine if the population was larger than originally thought. GM found the additional vehicles included in todayÂ’s recall have the problem. The fix will either be via an over-the-air update or it will require you to bring the vehicle into a dealer for a software update, depending on which vehicle you have. Owner notification letters letting folks know what is necessary are currently scheduled to go out on January 23, 2023. Related video: Cadillac Escalade Infotainment Review
