2004 Mallett CTS-V, C5R race block, 427, making 500rwhp. Completely customized, lowered, remote adjustible coilovers all around, tubbed rear. When I got it the motor had been tinkered with. We sent the motor to Goodwin Racing in Wisconsin for a build. I have about 1000 miles on it since rebuild. I can send you engine build sheet, break in dyno report, etc. I have every record, the entire build book from Mallett. It was built as "the M5 killer". Mallett's car actually won first place in the Car and Driver's Supercar Challenge ( http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2004-mallett-cadillac-cts-v-page-8 ) Jim at Speedsouth in Birmingham, AL did the dyno and engine install.  I can give you his number to ask any questions.  He can vouch for every inch of the car.
2004 Cadillac Mallett CTS-V, serial number 04-V-005. It is silver with black interior.  It is complete with all build documentation, dyno sheets, original books, tools and service records which support the mileage.

This vehicle was built from day one as a serial numbered, production Mallett car. It was never delivered, titled or driven as a regular Cadillac. It was ordered, built, invoiced and delivered directly from Mallett as a new vehicle. It is one of the earliest production Mallett CTS-V made available to the public. The cost of the conversion was $58,000 not including the cost of the car.

The engine is a custom 7.0 liter (427 cubic inch), completely hand built and assembled by Mallett. This is not an LS7 crate engine. It is a genuine C5R race unit, hand built with a billet reciprocating assembly. Included are a Moldex billet crank and rods, forged pistons, ported/polished heads, Mallett proprietary camshaft, Wilson composite intake, and a custom ECU map. An auxiliary engine oil cooler was also installed along with a larger Griffin aluminum radiator.

C5R Engine upgrade - $15,000
Spark plug wire insulators
Custom 4 core alum. Radiator - $725
Engine oil cooler, remote filter, fan - $1,460
ECU Tune $ 999

D port T304 stainless steel long tube headers, Random Technologies catalytic converters, Mallett Corsa mufflers, 3 inch T304 stainless tubing elsewhere to polished Corsa tips. The exhaust sounds amazing. At idle, the very aggressive cam lope is audible. It?ˆ™s hard to believe how good it sounds. At cruising speed, it is very comfortable and quiet. The engine is a real, handbuilt race motor and definitely sounds like it.

Long Tube D port SS headers - $1,946
Random Technology high flo cats. - $1,261
Mallett stainless mufflers - $1,299

The car features a full Mallett suspension with heim jointed, adjustable rear control arms, custom front and rear swaybars and end links. Penske remote reservoir adjustable coilovers were a special option that is very rare on these cars. There is no rear axle hop under acceleration. The rear wheelwells are TUBBED 4 inches per Mallett specification. This is a very special Mallett option and is extremely rare.

Another very rare option is 19x9fr and 19z12rr custom Mallett wheels by HRE. They were the first prototype set built by HRE specifically for the tubbed chassis on 004-V-05.

Penske double adjustable remote reservoir coilovers $4,550
Mini-tub Kit-$4500
Adjustable, tubular lower control arms with heim joints
Custom swaybars/bushings
Custom Mallett wheels by HRE -$ 4,200

The brakes are stock Brembo CTS-V with Mallett specific brake pads. They are in excellent shape and are very effective. There is no dead pedal travel and they are very easy to modulate.

New LS7 clutch, pressure plate and slave cylinder.

The interior is black and in good shape. All features and electronics work as new.

How GM's grueling 24-hour test gets the kinks out of its performance cars

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

One of the biggest challenges automakers face when designing a high-performance car is making sure that it is both fast and reliable. For General Motors, any car that might be taken to the track by its owner - like the Corvette, Camaro Z/28 (shown above) and the Cadillac CTS-V, for example - undergoes a rigorous and strenuous 24-hour test by engineers at the Milford Proving Grounds, as pointed out by Car and Driver.
We've posted on this topic in the past - on a video showing the Camaro ZL1 being brutalized, for instance - but this article gives a more in-depth look at what actually happens behind the scenes... including what that poor ZL1 went through. Though the test isn't for 24 hours straight, the cars are pushed as hard as possible by some of GM's best drivers with only the brakes and tires replaced frequently.
We don't want to ruin the fun for you, but it is an interesting article that tells just some of what GM does to develop its sports cars. Check out the full article over at Car and Driver for the rest of the story.

Cadillac SRX production moving to TN, next-gen Equinox going to Mexico

Fri, 29 Aug 2014

It's a good week for the town of Spring Hill, TN, as General Motors has announced that its factory in the city of 31,000 will receive a $185 million contract to produce engines. On top of that, the next-generation Cadillac SRX crossover will be built at the factory (NA models are presently built in Ramos, Arizpe Mexico), which was once famous for being the home of GM's now-defunct Saturn brand.
The factory is one of GM's six facilities around the globe that will screw together the company's new line of three- and four-cylinder Ecotec engines. Spring Hill currently builds the 2.0-liter, turbocharged Ecotec, as well as the naturally aspirated 2.4 and 2.5-liter variants.
Spring Hill's vehicle assembly lines were idled in 2009, but were reactivated in 2011. The SRX is just one of the products meant to benefit from last year's $350-million investment, and should have a positive impact, creating or retaining around 1,800 positions at the factory.

2020 Cadillac XT6 Review & Buying Guide | Sneaking in through the back

Thu, Jan 23 2020

The 2020 Cadillac XT6 is arriving late to the party, literally decades after some of its rivals. It's a new, three-row luxury crossover that serves as a much-needed, more-modern and less ostentatious family hauler than the Escalade (which is getting overhauled next year, by the way). The question about the XT6, then, is it fashionably late? The XT6 is indeed quite handsome and refined -- we thought it looked particularly excellent in one our test car's Red Horizon Tintcoat. There's a classic sophistication to it that evokes Cadillacs of the 1960s rather than the overwrought and borderline-tacky designs of other eras (including recent ones). We think the exterior design will age quite well, especially in light of some competitors. However, we're also not sure it's distinctly a Cadillac. Worse, the interior is drab, unimaginative, and blighted with unremarkable materials. A Volvo XC90 and Lincoln Aviator instantly look and feel more special, while a range-topping Hyundai Palisade isn't as far behind as the price gap would indicate. The driving experience also leaves something to be desired. Besides the ho-hum engine, the XT6 has neither the sharp handling of Cadillac's recent sedans nor the stately ride comfort one also might expect given the brand's past. Overall, the XT6 sneaks in through the back of the party rather than making a grand entrance; an unremarkable effort in a toughly contested segment. What's new for 2020? The XT6 is an all-new model and fills a gap in Cadillac's lineup. What's the XT6's interior and in-car technology like? Answering this question is all about perspective. In a vacuum, the XT6 interior seems nicely put together, its leather is soft and features are in abundance. The range-topping trim's gold carbon fiber trim is particularly interesting. If you sat in one after a Buick Enclave, the step up would be obvious. However, come from a Lincoln Aviator or Volvo XC90, to cite two excellent examples of the breed, and the difference is stark in terms of design and materials quality (there are too many hard plastics throughout). The XT6 quite simply isn't as cool, isn't as luxurious and doesn't seem to justify its price tag. At least features content is strong with six USB ports, wireless charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and satellite radio all included along with a panoramic sunroof and various driver assistance technologies. Other brands nickel-and-dime you with this sort of content.
