You are viewing my beautiful 2004 Cadillac XLR roadster. If you're looking at this you already know how awesome and rare these cars are. Basically this is a re-bodied Corvette. I am a private collector who enjoys a variety of cars, currently owning 8 exotics and classic Corvette's. I've been selling a few off here and there (had 15 just two months ago) and now it's time for my XLR to find a new home. My wife and I have decided to thin down my collection and focus on other things in life, mainly becoming foster parents. This was a one owner car that I bought earlier this year, and has been my primary daily driver since I bought it. I am only selling it because I have a new BMW 6 series convertible and don't really need both (the BMW has a back seat and is more "practical" for my kids, and for the other reason just mentioned). The car is a stunning looker, like a stealth fighter, and has the power to back up its sinister looks. Everywhere I go people point and stare. I get compliments all the time. The car has ALWAYS been garaged and it shows. The original paint is close to perfect. The car was just washed before these pics were taken and I just noticed
there are a few water drops present on the top of the back bumper as can
be seen in a few of the pics (these are not flaws). Of course with the mileage there are a few minor stone chips and a little scuff on the front bumper, but that's about it (can be repainted for about $300, but I chose to leave it factory original). The rest of car is stunning. The paint condition is gorgeous, and the dark charcoal grey is a rarer color you don't see very often. It's truly beautiful. The car has never been in any kind of accident and all paintwork is factory original. The tires are in great shape (see pic of tread). The brakes are great. The car drives and handles fantastic. The power folding hard top is a pure engineering work of art, and I love watching it fold in it's origami like fashion every time I operate it. The interior of the car is very clean and quite nice. The car has never been smoked in. The drivers seat bottom has some light cracking in the perforated center panel (see in pics) that can easily and inexpensively be replaced if so desired for about $200. That would make the interior look almost new. It isn't horrible and it never bothered me enough to fix. The car has every option imaginable, and one of the coolest featured is the Adaptive Cruise Control, which uses radar to keep a set distance between you and cars in front of you. It will slow the car down on its own if someone gets in front of you and once cleared, will take you back up to your original set speed...it will even bring the car to a complete stop if necessary! Truly a great and handy option! Another nice option is the Heads Up Display, reflecting your speed, cruise control info, stereo info, etc all on the windshield in front of you so you don't have to look down. I love it! Another handy item is the Back Up Warning Indicators, letting you know if you're too close to something behind you as you put the car in reverse. The BOSE stereo with in-dash multi-disc CD changer in this car is absolutely one of the best I've ever heard! With the top up or down, it is crystal clear. Factory Navigation works perfectly, and as seen in one of the pics, ALL manuals from Cadillac come with the car on how to operate the various systems, as well as both remotes & valet key. The car has the keyless start feature where you simply need to have the key in your pocket to unlock the doors by touching the concealed button in the door handle, and a keyless push-button start as well. Pretty cool. Everything on the car works as it should. The dual zone A/C is ice cold! The car has highway mileage as it was executive owned and traveled a good distance daily for his corporate affairs. Don't let the miles fool you. It has always been dealer maintained with a "money is no object" mentality. You would think the car has a 1/4 of the miles by the way it runs and drives. In the past few months I have replaced the throttle pedal assembly, throttle body and wiring harness, cam position sensor and had routine maintenance done on it at the dealership. She is good to go. I recently had a full synthetic oil change as well. The car is a blast to drive and own, and I will truly miss it! The airbag light is on, due to a wire being crimped under the drivers seat. Cadillac dealer told me this is an easy fix and should be about $300 to fix. Other than that all systems are good to go. So, to wrap things up this is a quality, super rare car that will give you years and many miles of enjoyment. It's stunning to look at, fun to drive, and you'll never pull up beside another one at the red light. The car has always been dealer maintained. Again, I am a private collector so all sales are final, and no warranties are expressed or implied. Feel free to ask any questions through the eBay system. This is a no reserve auction, so the last bid wins this car! Bid high and bid often! The car is advertised locally so the auction may end at any time. Feel free to make me an offer. Clean and clear title in my possession.
*** PLEASE do not bid if you do not intend on completing the transaction. I had 3 bad experiences in the past month on here where people bid, won, and then I never heard from them again or after waiting for payment for over a week they all of the sudden were "too busy to come" or "out of the country on business". Please! By then, I lost the other high bidders because they found something else and I was back to square one. So because of this, I now require a $500 non refundable deposit to be paid immediately following the end of the auction. You will be sent an invoice through Paypal. I also REQUIRE full payment within 3, YES 3, business days after the auction ends, preferably bank wire. This means you will need to have the funds available, not try to get a loan after winning. So, to be clear... the auction ends on a Saturday. You MUST pay me for the car in full NO LATER than the following Wednesday. PERIOD. The car doesn't need to be picked up or shipped by then, just paid for. Absolutely NO exceptions. You are responsible for shipping or picking it up. If you cannot or do not agree with my terms, or even THINK this won't work for you...do us both a favor and DO NOT BID. Have your funds clear and available PRIOR to bidding. Make sure your wife, mother, boss, priest, etc gives you the okay to buy this BEFORE you bid. If you have less than 10 feedback, you MUST contact me PRIOR to bidding or your bid will be cancelled. I'm sorry for my attitude but I'm tired of the set-backs, and having to re-list and pay fees over and over for nothing. The winner of this car will love it, and I thank you for your time. |

Consumer Reports loves the 2014 Cadillac CTS
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Our first drive of the 2014 Cadillac CTS was just published today... we really liked the Vsport version. And Consumer Reports has some even stronger words of praise for the all-new luxury sedan. We already knew that Cadillac had stepped up its game with the third-gen CTS, but CR bluntly states that the sedan drives better than its German luxury counterparts.
While CR shows plenty of love for the new CTS, the outlet still takes issue with some of the in-car technology including the CUE infotainment system - no surprise there. The testers' offer all manner of positive comments where the impressive handling capabilities of the sedan are concerned, with lots of drifting around CR's private test facility in evidence to bear them out. Scroll down to watch the CTS get put through its paces.
Cadillac ELR regen on demand brakes win 2014 Green Car Technology award
Wed, Jan 22 2014Just like the Oscars, Green Car Journal decided a few years ago to up the number of nominees for its annual award. For the annual "Green Car of the Year" award, given out at the Los Angeles Auto Show each year, there are five finalists. For the "Green Car Technology" award, there are a fantastic ten. At the 2014 Washington Auto Show today, the Cadillac ELR and its regen on demand brakes managed to beat out the nine other finalists to claim the second annual "Green Car Technology" award. What is the purpose of the "Green Car Technology" award? Green Car Journal says it wants to reward "technologies that enable significantly improved environmental performance in vehicles today," which is why only fuel-saving technologies that were "in use on American highways during the award year" can be considered. The Caddy's brakes beat out the Acura Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain, the Audi 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine, the BMW carbon-fiber passenger shell from the i3, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine used by Ford, the plug-in hybrid powertrain in the Honda Accord, Hyundai's hydrogen fuel cell technology, the regenerative brakes in the Mazda i-ELOOP, the plug-in hybrid powertrain used in some Porsche models and, finally, the Ram 3.0-Liter EcoDiesel engine. Last year, Green Car Journal gave Mazda's Skyactiv technology the inaugural Green Car Technology award. Cadillac ELR Regen On Demand Wins 2014 Green Car Technology Award Green Car Journal Lauds Cadillac's Electric Car Tech at Washington Auto Show WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadillac's innovative Regen on Demand technology has taken top honors as the winner of Green Car Journal's 2014 Green Car Technology Award™. The prestigious award was presented at a Green Car Journal press conference during the Washington Auto Show's second Policy Day. "Cadillac has cleverly evolved a common electric-drive efficiency system into an intriguing feature that adds a new dimension to the driving experience," said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com. "Ever-increasing efficiency is crucial to our driving future, yet efficiency itself is not an attraction for a great many car buyers.
Teaching autonomous vehicles to drive like (some) humans
Mon, Oct 16 2017While I love driving, I can't wait for fully autonomous vehicles. I have no doubt they'll reduce car accidents, 94 percent of which are caused by human error, leading to more than 37,000 road deaths in the U.S. last year. And if it means I can fly home at night in winter and get safely shuttled to my house an hour-plus away — and not have to endure a typical white-knuckle drive in the dark with torrential rain and blinding spray from 18-wheelers on Interstate 84 — sign me up. Autonomous technology will also take some of the stress, tedium and fatigue out of long highway drives, as I recently discovered while testing Cadillac Super Cruise. AVs are also supposed to eventually help increase traffic flow and reduce gridlock. But according to a recent Automotive News article, as the first wave of AVs are being tested on public roads, they're having the opposite effect. Part of the problem is they drive too cautiously and are programmed to strictly follow the written rules of the road rather than going with the flow of traffic. "Humans violate the rules in a safe and principled way, and the reality is that autonomous vehicles in the future may have to do the same thing if they don't want to be the source of bottlenecks," Karl Iagnemma, CEO of self-driving technology developer NuTonomy, told Automotive News. "You put a car on the road which may be driving by the letter of the law, but compared to the surrounding road users, it's acting very conservatively." I get it that, like teen drivers, AVs need a ramp up period to learn the unwritten rules of the road and that a skeptical public has to be convinced of the technology's safety. But this is where I become less of a champion on AVs, since where I live in the Pacific Northwest we already have more than our share of overly cautious human drivers. Since moving here 12 years ago, I've found it's an interesting paradox that a region famous for its strong coffee, where you'd think most drivers would be jacked up on caffeine, is also the home to annoyingly measured motorists. As an auto-journo colleague living in Seattle so aptly put it: "People in the Pacific Northwest drive as if they have nowhere to go." If you drive like me and always have somewhere to go — and usually are in a hurry to get there — it's absolutely maddening.
