1957 Cadillac Series 60 Fleetwood on 2040-cars

I have come a long way with this 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood. Last few years though, she's just sitting. Needs seats redone, interior installed, minor bodywork yet and ready for paint. Was stripped bare, body sealed, doors jambed. Seems every thousand I put in, I have to wait 6 months to do more. Recently purchased $1300 in tires for it, and sold my soul for the original Fleetwood ribbed rear bumper with NOS 1957 rear bumper ends. YES, THEY ARE NOS BUMPER ENDS I HAVE THE BOXES. I have 3 dashes worth of chrome, engine has been rebuilt and detailed, transmission has been rebuilt, driveshaft rebuilt. Still needs emergency brake cables replaced (supplied) and the windshield was bad so I removed it planning to do the dash soon. I have an excellent original windshield to put back in, but it has a scratch near the top so you may not want it. I have all the interior parts finished factory materials, all done by SMS in Washington. Door panels are perfect, all seat materials and leather are included, carpets, kick panels, b pillars and headliner are all included. Gas tank has been sealed, everything is mostly done. I have simply run out of time and money, probably have over 22K into it already. Selling for best offer over 12. I will box up everything I have for it, lights included. Foglights are NOS. Grille has been restored Gold. I will make sure it rolls, runs fine for pick-up. But it really can't be driven without a windshield. Dash has not been started, so easy to take apart, install and paint new, reassemble with NEW CustomAutoSound Stereo and New SWEDEN made Dashpad. Everything is included. Title is clear. Buyer arranges pick-up and shipping. Please call with questions or to see it (651) 488-4890

Liberace's gilded Cadillac could be yours
Tue, 27 Aug 2013With their chrome grilles and oversized wheels, it's hard not to notice a Cadillac these days. But this one is even more blingtastic on account of the 23.75-karat gold-leaf bodywork.
The 1931 Cadillac Golfer's Drop Head Coupé is said to have belonged to the inimitable performer Liberace, who didn't just have it covered in gold - he also had the exterior door handles plated in silver and the inside handles in 24-karat gold as well. It's also got a white leather interior and headlights that - well ahead of their time (if you'll pardon us, Mr. Tucker) - pivot with the steering wheel. All that bling is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission that pales in comparison to the seven, eight and even nine-speed gearboxes appearing on luxury sedans today.
The project was undertaken over the course of three years in the 1970s by one Jack Smith from Kansas. Smith (if that was his real name) sold it at auction in 1975, and it was most recently displayed for 12 years at a museum in Germany which claimed it was Liberace's own. The car is now going up for sale by Barons' at the Sandown Park horse racing track in Surrey, England, on September 17, when bidding starts at 85,000 pounds - equivalent to over $130,000 at today's rates.
Cadillac to vie for Secret Service armored car contract, new Beast?
Wed, 03 Jul 2013President Obama has used the same armored limo since his inauguration in 2008. Known by many as The Beast, the Presidential Limo was provided by Cadillac and earned its nickname in large part because of its massive size, which isn't surprising considering that its Caddy-shaped bodywork is said to sit atop a heavy-duty truck chassis.
It seems the Secret Service may be in the market for a Beast replacement, having issued a request for proposals for a new armored limo. According to Motor Trend, Obama's backup limo is a leftover from the Bush Administration, so it will be interesting to see if this new machine will serve as a replacement for The Beast or for its backup. The contract is to be awarded by September 29, 2013.
The boys from MT contacted Cadillac, Lincoln and Chrysler, and Chrysler is the only one that would confirm that it is not pursuing the contract. Cadillac may have the inside track, as it has provided Presidential limos since 1993, but Lincoln also has a long and storied history of chauffeuring the President.
