This is my 1984 Oldsmobile Toronado V8 coupe, which was very similar to the Buick Riviera and Cadillac Eldorado coupe of the same time. This is a 5.0L V8 front-wheel-drive personal luxury car.
I love the way this car drives- this is a quiet, powerful, smooth and comfortable-riding luxury car. They certainly don't make cars like this anymore, and I love the look and feel of these high-end GM cars. This is a fun-to-drive, comfortable and economical car that you can drive every day if you wanted.
This is a good condition, well-preserved "driver" quality classic Toronado. This car has the following equipment and options:
- 5.0L V8 engine
- automatic transmission
- front wheel drive
- leather upholstery
- automatic climate control with A/C
- power driver's seat
- power locks and windows
- cruise control
- tilt steering wheel
This car represented the last of the traditional body-on-frame front-wheel-drive cars with a longitudinally-mounted V8 engine. This is a classic Olds that is getting more difficult to find in decent condition. Most of these cars were long ago sent to the junkyard.
This car starts, runs and drives well. It is smooth, quiet and powerful. It drives great, handles well and stops/steers well. The engine runs great, the transmission shifts well and the brakes stop well. There are no known mechanical problems; you could drive this car daily if you wanted. I would take this car on a long drive anywhere with no worries.
The paint and body are in good shape. This car has held up well, and it is not a rust-bucket. It is clean, solid and in very good overall cosmetic condition.
The interior of this Toronado is superb. The leather seats are basically perfect, and the carpets and upholstery are excellent. This is a clean, great-condition interior that looks amazingly good for the age.
This is a 1984 car and as such it is not brand new. Please expect normal issues of wear and tear consistent with the age of the car. This is not a perfect show car to enter in competitions but rather a solid driver car to enjoy. Here is a list of everything I know of wrong with the car: The air conditioning doesn't work, the headliner is sagging slightly in a few spots, the front and rear bumper fillers aren't perfect- a few pieces were missing and were fabricated from or patched with fiberglass, the hood ornament is missing, and some of the white dye is coming off the vinyl roof. That's it- this is a clean, respectable and presentable classic Oldsmobile that has lots of life left.
The odometer reads 04077 miles, which is assumed to be 104,077 miles. The title will read miles as non-actual as a result.
You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home. You can also have the car shipped, please contact Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481 for a shipping quote.
This car is kept in my garage in Willoughby, OH.

GM follows Ford and Honda in skipping SEMA
Fri, May 20 2022The list of automakers skipping SEMA has become longer. First reported by Muscle Cars and Trucks, and confirmed to us by a company representative, General Motors will not have an official presence at the aftermarket show. It joins Ford and Honda in leaving the show. It will be a large hole in the show, with the GM brands typically filling a significant swath of available show space in one of the main halls. GM hasn't provided much explanation for the move, either. The GM representative provided Autoblog with the same statement that Muscle Cars and Trucks got: "GM has made the decision not to participate in the 2022 SEMA Show. The SEMA show has always inspired us, and accessories and performance parts remain an important part of our business." We also asked if we would see any sort of announcements around the time of the show — Ford said it has plans to share some things around that time — however, the GM representative said that the company has no immediate plans for announcements. Certainly things could change between now and the November show, though. SEMA had previously noted that other exhibitors would help fill in some of the space vacated by these major OEMs. Another OEM, Volkswagen, is returning to the show after an absence, which will also help with the display deficit. Dealers mobilize to protect their margins from automaker subscription services
Fri, Aug 24 2018Six individual auto brands — Lincoln, Cadillac, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and Volvo — have established or are trialing a vehicle subscription service in the U.S. Three third-party companies — Flexdrive, Clutch and Carma — run brand-agnostic subscription services. And three automakers — Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and General Motors — have also launched short-term rental services. Dealers, afraid of how these trends might affect their margins, are building political and lawmaking campaigns to protect their revenue streams. So far, three states are investigating automaker subscriptions, and Indiana has banned any such service until next year. It's certain that those three states are the first fronts in a long political and legal battle. Powerful dealer franchise laws mandate the existence of dealers and restrict how automakers are allowed to interact with customers to sell a vehicle. On top of that, Bob Reisner, CEO of Nassau Business Funding & Services, said, "Dealers and their associations are among the strongest political operators in many states. They as a group are difficult for state politicians to vote against." In California earlier this year, the state Assembly debated a bill with wide-ranging provisions to protect against what the California New Car Dealers Association called "inappropriate treatment of dealers by manufacturers." One of those provisions stipulated that subscription services need to go through dealers, but that item got stripped out when dealers and manufacturers agreed to discuss the matter further. In Indiana, Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a moratorium on all subscription programs by dealers or manufacturers until May 1, 2019, to give legislators more time to investigate. Dealers in New Jersey have taken their campaign to the state capitol, asking that the cars in subscription programs get a different classification for registration purposes. Automakers run the current subscription services and own the vehicles. Sign-ups and financial transactions happen online or through apps, leaving dealers to do little more than act as fulfillment centers to various degrees, with little legal recourse as to compensation amounts when they're called on to deliver or service a car. That's a bad base to build on for business owners who've sunk millions of dollars into their operations.
Cadillac CTS Vsport laps the N"urburgring in 8:14.10 [w/video]
Wed, 28 Aug 2013You don't have to be German to test your car at the Nürburging. You just have to be serious about beating the Germans on their own home turf. That's why Nissan tests its GT-R at the Nordschleife to challenge the Porsche 911, and why Cadillac - which is no less serious about putting up a fight to German performance sedans - has returned to the 'Ring once again with its latest.
This time it's the turn of the new CTS Vsport, the sportier version of Cadillac's new mid-range sedan that aims to bridge the gap until the arrival of the next CTS-V. So how'd it fare? At the end of what we're sure was an exhaustive test session, the new CTS Vsport clocked a time of 8:14.10.
To put that into context, General Motors points out that the time places the new sedan six seconds ahead of the first-gen CTS-V, whose 400-horsepower V8 engine was actually less potent than the Vsport's new 410hp 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6. That's still a good fifteen seconds slower than the outgoing CTS-V that clocked a 7:59 in 2009 with its 556hp supercharged V8, but only a second behind the E60-generation BMW M5 with its high-revving 500hp V10.
