You are bidding on a 1978 Cadillac Coupe de Ville D Elegance in Firemist blue with blue interior. Firemist blue was an extra cost option for this Cadillac. This Cadillac is a garaged kept, no accident automobile with 63,xxx miles from Sunday drives and vacation use. It has never seen salt nor snow and has always been hand washed since new. The engine is a 425 cubic inch V8. Delivered new in May 1978, this Cadillac was special ordered. The original order invoice will be supplied to the buyer along with the owners manual. The Coupe de Ville is located in Lemont, Illinois, a southern suburb of Chicago just off of I55. The car features original paint, pin striping and hubcaps. There is one light scratch on the top of the right passenger side fender. There is a bug deflector that has been on the car since new and an alarm. Ziebart rustproofing was applied the first week of ownership and adds additional sound proofing. There is a dealer installed auto alarm. At 36 years old, this car may be classified for a collectors license plate in many states. The interior is in very good condition. This Cadillac is a non-smoking and no food automobile. There are no cup holders. The cloth is stain free and without holes. The thick pile carpeting has always been covered with floor mats. The interior has a neutral scent and is free of odors that are common in most used cars. Even the clock works. The spare tire is like new and has never been used. The Cadillac has passed the Illinois emission tests far below the limits. All preventative maintenance and upkeep has been done. The tires are new within the year, Monroe shocks were applied about 20k miles ago. A new Walker muffler was installed about 15k miles ago to solve a pin hole in the original muffler. The oil is changed yearly. A new Interstate battery was installed within the last year. The windshield was replaced about 15k years ago due to a nick caused by an errant stone.

GM outlines strategy for new products, growth in China
Wed, 01 Oct 2014
"Our strategic plan is a pathway to earn customers for life and create significant shareholder value in the process." - Mary Barra
General Motors laid out ambitious plans on Wednesday to become the world's "most valued automotive company," a goal it says it can reach by strengthening its business in China, rebuilding the Cadillac luxury brand and fixing the foundering GM Europe operations.
Cadillac: The standard of what?
Fri, Jul 28 2017Cadillac's tagline "Standard of the World" goes back to 1908 when it won the Dewar Trophy. While you might think that the moniker and the trophy have something to do with a feat of racing and daring-do against a cadre of British, French, and German marques, it's nothing of the sort. Rather, Cadillac achieved the trophy because of interchangeable parts. The parts they were producing back then were so well-made that Henry Leland, who established Cadillac, was able to disassemble three Model Ks, mix up the parts, and then put together three functioning cars. This amazed the Brits who handed him the trophy, and the "Standard of the World" was born. During the past several months, Cadillac has been producing news releases that would seem as though the company is the Standard of the World: "Cadillac Global Sales Rise 44.2 percent in January ... 18 percent in February ... 22.1 percent in March. . .40.9 percent in April ... 33.8 percent in May ... 7.2 percent in June." Like the Dewar Trophy being about manufacturing not performance, things are not necessarily what they seem. That is, Cadillac's growth is predicated on performance in China, not in the US. Through June, its China sales are 80,357 vehicles for the first five months of 2017, versus 72,073 in the US. The China number is a 75.4-percent year-over-year increase while the US number is a 1.6-percent decrease. For the entire globe, Cadillac has sold 164,174 vehicles. Of them, 65,250 were the XT5. That was followed by the ATS, at 34,277 units. In the US, the XT5 is doing reasonably well, as it has moved 29,798 units during the first six months. The ATS, conversely, is doing not particularly well, as it is down 26.2 percent with sales at just 7,209 for the year so far. To put that into some sort of context, know that Cadillac has sold 7,370 copies of the generally derided XTS, which is down 24.7 percent. The CTS is down 36 percent at 5,059 units, and the only other car in the lineup (we'll pretend that the ELR doesn't exist anymore and it shortly won't), the CT6 sedan, is up 172.7 percent – but they have sold only 5,397 CT6s. While Caddy talks a good game about competing with the likes of the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes E-Class, know that those two sedans have been sold 17,036 and 20,783 times this year in the US respectively. So what is Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen to do? According to Reuters, it is to cull the lineup.
Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
