- I have for sale a very cool 1970 Buick Riviera. These aren't seen very often any more. This one has a good running 455 V-8 and has an automatic transmission that shifts well. The car is long and low and rides good. The car has 54,973 miles on it. The paint on the car is called Sunset Sage. Kinda like a purple with a little copper in it. Has power brakes and power steering that are both working well. The following all work: all 4 power windows, horn, all lights, wipers, remote in glove box, tilt wheel, power seat, speed alert arrow and buzzer, speedometer, fuel guage, heater and defroster, glove box light, interior domes, temp. and brake warning lights, all turn signals and their dash indicators, quarterpanel turning lights, brake lights.
- The factory A/C does work and blows cold. These items don't work: radio, driver's remote mirror, passenger's door window switch. All of the other individual window switches are currently working.
- The body on this 1970 Riviera is really prety decent. There are small spots of rust through just above each rear wheel as seen in the photos. The paint is faded in a few spots, especially on the roof. The undercarriage is very solid and I have found only some surface rust. Trunk floor is solid as well with light surface rust present. Cabin floors look ok from underneath and seem very solid when you stamp your heel on the inside.
- The interior is decent as well with the worst being the very evident heavy wear on the front seat. Rear seat is good. Headliner is good. Dash is real decent. Door panels are good as well with some armrest cracking. Guages work and are clear and easily readable.
- The 455 V-8 runs well and the trans shifts good. The driver's side exhaust manifold has a leak and makes noise but not too bad. It gets quieter when the engine is warned up. A section of exhaust pipe will need to be added to the driver's side tailpipe rearward of the rear axel area. Maybe even the whole driver's side pipe. The other side is old but sounds ok. The chrome on the car is not perfect but decent driver quality. Glass is good.
- This 1970 Riviera is fun to drive and a 455 has good power. The interior is comfortable. This was pretty much a 1-year body-style so its unique.
- Please feel free to ask any questions. Personal inspection is encouraged. As-is, no warranty.

Buick Regal GS and troupe of basketball dribblers make great beats
Wed, 02 Apr 2014The 166 videos posted by YouTube music video maestro Kurt Hugo Schneider have been watched almost half a billion times. When Coke wanted to do something musically inclined and a little different, it called KHS, and the result was the video Little Talks.
Buick appears to be the next blue chip in line, and KHS' melodic celebration of the 259-horsepower Regal GS is called Epic Basketball + Car Beat. In it, a red Regal sits at center court in Venice Beach, California while a cast of ridiculous dribblers make music with and around the sedan.
We'll let the music speak for itself, which it does quite well in the video below.
Buick luxury sedan design sketch would make a great flagship
Tue, Nov 29 2022Over the Thanksgiving holiday General Motors posted a sketch of a futuristic Buick sedan to social media. In fact, the sleek wedge is just the latest in a series of illustrations that seem to point the way to a luxury EV coming in 2024 (for model year 2025). That's when Buick has promised its first fully-electric vehicle, with the promise that the entire lineup will be gasoline free.      View this post on Instagram            A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) The sketch shows a low, long sedan that seems to be inspired (or perhaps served as the inspiration for) the Buick Wildcat concept revealed in June. However, there are significant differences as well. The sketch shows a profile that's more cab backward than the Wildcat's, with a gently sloping roofline that's more Audi A7 than the physical car's aggressive Nissan GT-R-like top. The front end is less busy than the Wildcat's as well, with the chrome better integrated into the fascia and headlights. Similar brightwork appears on the rocker panels and on the fenders behind the wheel arches, cues the Wildcat concept lacks. Buick's updated logo sits at the end of a sporty BMW-esque trough on the hood. Of course, the exaggerated wheels have such little clearance they wouldn't really be able move or turn, much less survive a pothole, but we can forgive that artistic liberty. Other recent sketches shown on the GM Design account on Instagram show a more refined version of the same sedan, but without the Wildcat's Honda CR-V-esque taillights. Another super-luxurious coupe with hints of Syd Mead looks just as beautiful but is unbranded and may work better as a Cadillac. The Buick brand feels a bit redundant these days, but stunning designs like these could help differentiate the brand. The General has plenty of trucks and SUVs already. If it's going to foist crossover after crossover at us, maybe the Buick division could stand out as the sedan-and-coupe-only brand. Related video:
Malaise Era Junkyard Gem: 1979 Buick Electra Limited
Wed, Jun 22 2016In the fall of 1973, the Arab members of OPEC shut off the oil taps, and Detroit got busy making many of their full-sized land yachts a lot smaller. By model year 1977, the downsized fifth-generation Buick Electra was ready to go ... just in time for the 1979 Iranian Revolution to squeeze the supply of the black stuff even further. You won't see many of the 1977-85 Electras these days, but I spotted this faded but solid '79 Limited sedan in a Denver self-service yard last week. General Motors must have bought up the entire world's supply of blue velour around this time, because you'll see this stuff in just about every car they made for the following decade or so. By this time, GM was doing a lot of mixing-and-matching with engines from its various divisions, which meant you could buy an Oldsmobile 88 with a Chevrolet 350 V8 engine, a Chevrolet Monza with a Buick 231 V6 engine, or— as in this case— a Buick Electra with an Oldsmobile 350 V8 engine. Do you want to know how many horses this engine delivered to this 3,631-pound car? 155 horsepower out of 5.7 liters of engine displacement. Times were tough during the Malaise Era.
