If you clicked this ad, you most likely already know these T-Types or Turbo Ts are the same car as a Grand National, but lighter, rarer, and available with more options. You also know that 86-87 are the only years you should really be looking at because of changes in the design such as the intercooler. This is a very lightly modified example compared to many I have owned. Off the top of my head, the upgrades are as follows:
I also have extra parts to be included with the sale including:
This T-Type starts right up and runs great. It pulls very strong for a stock turbo car. I have never taken it down the track, but feel confident enough to say it is a mid-12 second car in the quarter comparing it to my other T-Type I have raced. There is no rust that I can find anywhere in the car and all electric options work. The paint is original as are the bumper fillers. The car originally came with a Parchment White vinyl roof that was removed because there was a split in it. I have all the trim if you'd like to replace the vinyl top. The paint is not perfect. There are scrapes and scratches. Most notably, there is a dent in the middle-rear of the roof (the reason the vinyl top split most likely) and there is a dent in the driver rear quarter from something inside the trunk hitting it. It looks pretty good even without the vinyl top though. This is also an original chrome trim car. The grille was plastidipped black by the previous owner. That is easy to remove if you don't like it or you can finish off the look and do the rest of the trim which I think would look pretty awesome. The interior has no rips or tears, but the pull straps need one or two of those escutcheon plates that always seems to fall off and the driver power lock button is not mounted to the door panel as it should be. I think it just needs to be clipped back in, but I haven't popped off the bottom of the door panel to do so. The headliner has already been redone and looks great. The car also has practically new tires on the original aluminum T-Type wheels. The powermaster unit has also already been replaced, so no worries there. There are no check engine or other idiot lights on the dash and the oil pressure is great. Bottom line is this is a very solid, original 87 Buick T-Type that would be an awesome driver or platform to build for your new project. Many pictures below. How to hack a Buick Regal with CarKnow
Thu, 08 Aug 2013If you own an Apple iPhone or Android device, perhaps you've been tempted to jailbreak or root it. This process gives you access to the the software's code, and can be used to make minor or drastic changes to its operating system. CarKnow, a company in Boston, is working applying a similar concept to the automobile.
Translogic recently took a look inside CarKnow to see just how it can tweak the computers inside a car and what sort of things can be done. As our transportation tech sister site explains, CarKnow basically created a digital duplicate of their Buick Regal in the cloud, while harvesting data generated to create custom apps and infiltrate the deepest function of their test car.
And before you freak out about people maliciously taking over your car, CarKnow's founder, Josh Siegel, stresses that it isn't quite so easy as driving up alongside someone. Take a look at the full video below to see just what it's like to jailbreak a car.
Watch 14 hot rides take over concept car lawn at Pebble Beach
Sun, Aug 16 2015The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is an annual celebration of the beautiful, old cars that grace Monterey Car Week. But Monterey – and Pebble – features lots of newer metal, too, and that includes the concept lawn at Pebble Beach. Now, "concept lawn" isn't a totally accurate name anymore, and you'll see why in the list below. This year especially, plenty of production cars can be found in the area once reserved for the conceptual. Still, we're happy to see them. Here's what's featured this year: Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Audi R8 BAC Mono Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R Buick Avenir Galpin-Fisker Rocket Speedster Hyundai HCD-16 Vision G Coupe Icona Volcano Infiniti Q60 Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 Maserati Ghibli McLaren 570S Rolls-Royce Wraith By our count, that's seven concepts out of fourteen cars. But it still makes for one hot group of metal. Check 'em out in the gallery above. 2017 Buick LaCrosse an evolution of sharp Avenir concept
Wed, Nov 18 2015After years as a bloated, uninspiring, but comfortable near-premium sedan, Buick has taken the wraps off a leaner, lither, far more stylish LaCrosse. The third-generation model has just made its debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show. While there's a lot to talk about, let's first address the new, Avenir-inspired sheetmetal. The fascia is basically the concept car smoothed over into production form, featuring the same winged trishield. In place of the chrome-trimmed waterfall, the LaCrosse gets a blacked-out, recessed grille with a chrome surround. It looks good in photos but it's better in person, adding a real sense of complexity and depth to the front end. The headlights and lower fascia, meanwhile, adhere closely to the concept. The same cannot be said of the LaCrosse's tail. While the taillight lighting pattern is similar, the overall shape of the lighting element is radically different, refining the design featured on the back of the Regal. Also gone, sadly, is the Avenir's boattail rear deck. Instead, the LaCrosse gets a small rear deck that curves up into a pleasant duckbill spoiler. The rest of the tail is pleasantly restrained. Perhaps the weakest point is the profile, where Buick has instituted a "split-spear" design, featuring a strong shoulder line above the rear wheel well, which sits below an even stronger character line that curves down and towards the front of the car. It strikes us as just a little too much, like the Impala. Underneath that sheetmetal, Buick has managed to trim nearly 300 pounds of body fat, nearly half of which came from the vehicle's actual structure. That 300 lbs, according to Buick's engineers, is equivalent to a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator, in case you needed a helpful comparison. Despite the weight savings, Buick has upped the torsional rigidity for this new model by 15 percent. The LaCrosse's cabin features a strong, cockpit-like design, with a high, floating-bridge center console. This is possible due to Buick's adaption of the Electronic Precision Shift system, introduced earlier this month on the new Cadillac XT5. Despite the new-fangled console design, Buick's retained the wraparound cabin style introduced on the second-gen model. Based on a quick crawl around the interior, space is great in front, although ingress in back is somewhat difficult due to the roofline. You're probably wondering why we haven't said anything about the mechanicals just yet.
